Hi,
I’m starting a wiki library of Doctor Who theories (I want to mainly stick to longstanding ones so they don’t all get disproved right away). Does anyone know of any longstanding theories I could make entries on? I’m going to be researching whatever theories I can and try to compile as much evidence as I can on them, as well as counter-arguments. If you’re interested in making an entry yourself, or editing one, it’s here below. But it would really help to even just get some suggestions for theories to cover. My Wiki

I’m sorry to just jump in randomly here, but how did the doctor go from who could potentially make a good dalek, to being actually called a good dalek. I really thought that he’d made some progress. Is it just a difference of opinion between the two daleks, or has he really changed? You could say that in both cases, it was just their opinion and didn’t necessarily mean anything. I think, however, that if anyone was qualified to make such a judgment, it would be a dalek. They may be pure evil, but they can also be very candid at times . I would take their opinion on the matter seriously.

@Dan Temple  That dialog sounds to me like it’s the Doctor carrying out a conversation with his darkside. The Valeyard perhaps?

Maybe Timelords have dual souls, as well as two hearts.

I’m happy that they’re going to have an older Doctor. I could never take Eleven seriously.
Capaldi looks like he’ll be amazing. I hope he’s just a bit scary and unpredictable like Seven was.

My favorite companion is Rose. I don’t understand why so many people seem to dislike her.
She did have her faults, but I feel that that is what made her so realisic and relatable. She responded to things in a very natural, human way, which of course sometimes included mistakes, but that just made her more convincing.
If you think about it, that’s what made all of RTD’s characters so interesting; they acted like real human beings, not just made up fairytale characters that played to script. They made mistakes and did the unexpected.

Furthermore, although she has a few flawed moments, the majority of the time she is a nice, caring person that looks out for others. She is not at all selfish. Watch any episode and you’re likely to see her worrying about the wellfare of another being. Daleks, Oods, complete strangers.

She is also smart, brave, loyal, and incredibly perseverant.
I could go on and on about why she is these things, but I think I’ll stop here unless someone asks for specific examples. Don’t hesitate to ask though, I have plenty:) I love a good ( and polite) debate.

@wolfweed If that was being used in production, I would think that the Doctor dressed up in a tux just to take River to a small secluded diner to say goodbye. I think that I would prefer that to an actual tower. Much more unexpected this way. By the By, does anyone else think that Moffat is going to have a field day making puns with the word mummy, in “Mummys On The Orient Express”?

Clara: “Doctor, there’s a mummy on the train!”
Doctor: “Of course there are, Clara! There are lots of mummies on this train.”

Clara: “Look!”

Doctor: “Great Scott! Where did that come from? (Glares at it) You’re not my mummy.”

Clara: “Well aren’t you going to sonic it?”

Doctor: “Oh no, I have a better idea (unwraps mummy)”

They are both suprised by what’s underneath

Clara: “Doctor, I know that this is a silly question by now , but how is that possible?”

The News is a curious phenomenon – most people who read it seem to suggest they suspect an awful lot of it is bollocks, and it’s written with a distinct bias. It doesn’t stop academic studies demonstrating that certain things from their paper of choice, which are bollocks, seem to stop in the memory over time, and settle in the consciousness as “things we know”.

This reminds me of something from 1984:

What if he hasn’t just forgotten how to drive the TARDIS? What if the Doctor completely forgot who he was, and had to relearn what it means to be “The Doctor”? He would be asking questions such as; what am I like? Is this something I would do? What have I done? It would be very interesting to see the Doctor view himself objectively, just for a little while of course.
