  1. I did finally brave watching it. No spoilers that I could tell. Its posted on http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/ now.

My guess is Clara is deliberately copying the phrase just to tease. 🙂

As for any “reviews” of upcoming shows, I have steadfastly avoided them. Even the ones that claim they are “spoiler free”. I’ll wait to form my own opinion before I weigh it against anyone else’s.

Funny, in the past I kind of snuck peaks at spoilers just because I was so impatient. Now I want nothing to do with them!

  2. @Wolfweed – ‘I’m not a ladykiller’.

Now there’s a line designed to be ambiguous – though it could just be a bit of a joke at Peter Capaldi’s expense (he was in the recent stage production of The Ladykillers).

  3. I repeat: Bows and arrows!!!!   😀   I can’t wait for this. The challenge will be to keep from waking my neighbours with my squeals of glee when I watch first thing Sunday morning. Thanks so much @wolfweed for posting the clips!

I think that might well be the case. Reflections seem to have a big part to play this series (as well as ambiguity).
As far as I can tell, the Dr eating with the spoon was unnecessary other than to show us that figure…

Whilst everyone is busy thinking there might be some clue on the blackboards (and there might be), most people didn’t think to stare at the spoon! (When I spot such things, I always get paranoid that I’m hallucinating! It seems not so, this time…)

I can’t wait for the ‘proper’ trailer this week!

Whoops! I suppose spoonfeeding sets up the spoon as the Doctor’s weapon!

As to the reflection, I’m not claiming that’s it’s definitely human (/oid) [it might be a bookcase I suppose?] but it certainly appears to have a human shape.

  6. @Wolfweed – it really doesn’t look like a bookcase. Yes, a human shape, wrong angle for Clara (and the camera) and it’s almost entirely black.

Could be Gretchen. Shape’s almost that of someone in a helmet.

Yeah, the spoon was put in there to allow the Doctor to pull it out as his weapon later. Interestingly, the Capaldi Doctor doesn’t seem to have the infinite pockets of Smith and Tennant – the Sheriff finds a packet of sandwiches, the Sonic and the spoon.

Yes it looks to me like a slightly crouched soldier. Gretchen is a good call. I was thinking Maybe Danny as a soldier?

On the other hand, I suppose it might just be the production team tea boy/ spoon passer…

  8. @Wolfweed – honestly? It looks more like a CGI insert to me. Directors are normally a bit paranoid about close-ups on shiny reflective surfaces, because of the possibility of getting the spoon-passer in shot.

Also, the shot looks deliberately backlit, rather than accidentally backlit (if you see what I mean). It’s lit from two directions, both behind the figure, and the light also has different colours – warm red by the figures feet and more Tardis white above. I’d think that if the spoon passer got between the lights and Capaldi to that extent, it’d have shown.

Of course, the explanation could be that the camera/spoon passer did get reflected in the spoon, they spotted it, and decided it would be cool to cover it up with some sneaky CGI work that connects with next week. 😈

If they’re running it would have to be digitally inserted. If they were (crouched) on the set it looks like they’d be about 6 feet away – unlikely to be the spoon passer. I think forensics need to go over this with an HD toothcomb…

Please don’t worry about me – I don’t think ‘Vashta Nerada’ whenever I see a boom shadow..!!! 🙂

  10. @Bluesqueakpip @Wolfweed

Sorry, didn’t realise you were discussing the spoon over here.

Feckit!  Now I can see 2 figures in the spoon –  1 standing, all dark and shadowy (that I originally thought might be Clara – when you see the full shot) and 1 crouched down(who looks like he might be eating with a spoon!).

It’s more complex than 1 of BSP’s enigmatic avatars!!

    😈

Any bets on the following exchange?

Clara: How did you get the job?
Doctor: I know the Chair of Governors.

If that exchange does not take place I will never forgive the script writer.

I do feel sorry for Danny Pink. The expression of horror in that second clip is heartrending.

I must say I am really looking forward to this episode as Coal Hill is so central to Who lore though I have a terrible feeling that we are not going to encounter Ian, not yet anyway.

    Cheers

    Janette

  12. I’m with @JanetteB

*Shakes fist at @Bluesqueakpip”  I mis-read your post – I thought that was actually in the trailer. That’s just brilliant, but can’t help thinking I’m going to be so disappointed! There again, it could very well have happened off screen.

    *cheers up again*
