Very cute
11 August 2014 at 17:49 #29695Here’s a totally awesome vid of my friend drawing Clara Oswald at my request.
Also, I’m going to have a Sync-Watch of Day of the Daleks, if anyone digs that kind of thing. If you want to participate leave a comment here:https://plus.google.com/events/cmvj1t1l3e6kfve3uhc3b889n6o
And I’ll invite you.
14 August 2014 at 11:21 #29733From @craig: Content deleted as it was just a blatant spammy advert for another site.
15 August 2014 at 03:34 #29746A friend of mine designed a Doctor Who theme for a weather app he works on called Weatherwise. They’re giving out the theme for free for a limited time. If you download the app (they have both iOS and Android), go to the Theme store, tap on “Get free themes” then you put in the promo code: drwho
I’ve attached a couple of screenshots so you can see what it looks like. The app is a very dynamic twist on checking the weather.
Enjoy!

15 August 2014 at 09:55 #29750Fan Creativity level 10!
Not sure if this is old news but I just heard that the guy who created that popular alternative Title sequence was actually employed by Moffat to create a new official one! http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2014/08/new-title-sequence-is-fan-inspired.html
I wasn’t overly keen on the whole “cogs represent time” element but hopefully they’ve come up with something impresive

31 August 2014 at 17:04 #30782Welcome, @mystery If you are intending to do strip cartoons, that means they are likely to be funny and would probably be considered ‘parody‘ (which I guess would be legally sound). (Obviously don’t just title the strip ‘Doctor Who’)
If you meant comic strips or cartoons that would be straight/serious then that would indeed breach copyright.
If you meant animation, the same would apply. A spoof/parody would probably be okay but a serious ‘made for profit’ cartoon would again breach copyright.
31 August 2014 at 17:25 #30783Thanks for your timely reply. What if I used a character in a non doctor who story but that character only looked like one of the doctors but wasn’t the doctor and he had a different name but had a space ship that was in another shape other than a police box?
31 August 2014 at 17:26 #30785I think @wolfweed has covered it with his answer. Fanzines used to thrive on contributions from fan cartoonists who were covered in the parody class. This went up to people like Tim Quinn and Dicky Howlett, who (as I’m sure @wolfweed would agree) were the Masters of the form for Doctor Who Monthly. There is a collection of their work on their site (you’ll have to scroll down to the Who stuff).
There is a long tradition (dating back to 1963) of Political Satire Magazine “Private Eye” doing Doctor Who cartoons (try typing Private Eye Dalek Cartoon into Google image search), as well as Newspaper Cartoonists. Largely, the BBC is relaxed about it and fan art in general. It’s like free publicity and why the show is considered iconic. The only area where you’ll get into difficulty is if you’re making serious money out of an ongoing enterprise, or BBC Worldwide feel you’re bringing the brand into disrepute.
Still – post an example of your work if you have any.
31 August 2014 at 17:34 #30786Here’s an example of a Who parody. Making all the names different helps legally. One biggie is also the phone box. Believe it or not, the Police Telephone Box is now copyright of the BBC (hence a normal red phone box here). Also think of Bill & Ted in their ‘normal’ phone box…

If you like strip cartoons, I agree with @phaseshift that Quinn & Howett are the masters…
31 August 2014 at 17:47 #30788Thanks for the insight. here is an example:
There is a guy named Alex and he has a space ship that is shaped like a fish and it can randomize into different shapes. Alex looks like the tenth doctor and some of his behavioral traits are the same. Do you think I can get away with that?
31 August 2014 at 18:09 #30790I don’t know if you intended to insert an example there, but I just checked your post and there was nothing there. If you need help on inserting images, click on the help tab.
I think the example you quote sounds more like a case for David Tennants legal representatives. So unless you intend bringing him into disrepute, it sounds inoffensive. I’d say we really can’t comment without an example.
31 August 2014 at 18:16 #30792I didn’t put a picture in. Just the text.

1 September 2014 at 20:31 #30916Hello all! this artwork is absolutely fabulous! Just thought id say! 😛
My two pence into this creative sphere is my idea for a set of audio adventures, detailing an original time lord,
I’ve sort of got a pilot (one that is pretty rough but for a first try sort of demonstrates the point) that I will upload and post here 😛
would anyone like to voice act in it? I’d primarliy be looking for a female, to be an assistant, and other characters as I go along! if interested get in touch!
regards! Fraz316!
1 September 2014 at 21:54 #30920Here is the pilot folks, any feedback would be loved :’)

You can even download a set of 12 where only one Doctor is illuminated in each one, meaning you could cycle through them on your desktop for a Clock effect 🙂 http://www.geeksaresexy.net/2014/09/04/geektastic-doctor-who-wallpaper-cycles-through-12-different-doctors/
6 September 2014 at 00:47 #31159I listened to the new theme tune last week , and I think its terrible.
The original D.Who was eerie and creepy , but the new version just sounds like Black beauty running through fields , jumping over fences , and is so diluted and dumbed down compared to the original.
So , I made this , and I thought ” who better to ask than the ardent legion of Doctor Who fans out there ?”
I’ve submitted it to the BBC , but as they have their own in-house musicians , there’s maybe not much they can do about it.
Would you be happy to hear this as the theme tune to the Doctor Who that Peter Capaldi said was going to be “Darker” ?
Thanks =)

15 September 2014 at 22:53 #31827So, a while back I made a couple of Doctor Who music video things. Always meant to go back and do more but it never quite happened. Anyway, going to throw these two out there to see what you guys think. Both are 10th Doctor based and set to Amy Macdonald songs that just seemed right to me at the time.
First one is Mr Rock ‘n’ Roll
Second one Wish for something more

21 September 2014 at 07:42 #32253I sometimes throw Who-related material up on cheezburger: would it be appropriate to share those links here?
21 September 2014 at 14:18 #32274@davros Feel free, that’s what this thread is here for. I’d prefer if you posted material here instead of a load of links though. That way we can enjoy it without having to click a ton of links (but that’s just my preference).
23 September 2014 at 22:32 #32454I have written a Who-themed cryptic crossword.

8 October 2014 at 18:21 #33276The Spinnoff I want to see….
Master Who
o Another Time Lord whom we don’t know by real name *
o Each week he goes by a new alias, which is usually an anagram of his name. The worse of which was “Here’s Matt!”
o He goes about the Universe trying out ever-more absurd plans and always winds up destroying competing and even more bungling bad guys. (Usually by accident)
o His worst plan involved deploying Auton Living Plastic through adult book stores
o His Tardis (Sybil) has a working Cameleon Circuit, however it has a very bitchy sense of humor. In 1989 it materialized in Tiananmen Square as a VW Van with a Peace Symbol in the back window.
o While The Master does not travel with companions, he does keep around some people he shrunk with the Tissue Compression Eliminator. Ironically, this lead to the merchandising of full size Companion Dolls.
o Master Who doesn’t believe in Christmas Specials, but does have an annual Halloween episode where the Master plays Skelator at various children’s parties.
o The incidental music is made up entirely of four drum beats which enrages the audience to the point where they go back in time and kick the spit out of Rassilon
o In the end, The Master turns out to actually BE The Doctor
o Leaving the last line to K-9 who says “What else have I been saying?!”* The Third Doctor, upon seeing him in the Death Zone in “The Five Doctors” uttered “Jehoshaphat” as an expletive, not calling him by name 😀
