"For years the boys have had their hero, now it's the girls' turn." – Colin Baker 💙 #SDCC #DoctorWho

"The white male dominance of the role has been nothing but timid — but now they've broken the bravery barrier." @SawbonesHex #DoctorWho
— Chris Taylor (@FutureBoy) July 21, 2017
21 July 2017 at 01:45 #61212"I'd like to see David Tennant do some of the scripts I had. That'll wipe the smile off his face." — @SawbonesHex #DoctorWho

21 July 2017 at 01:53 #61214We watched a clip from a semi-restored version (using stills/audio) of "The Wheel in Space" & ugh I love Patrick Troughton. #SDCC #DoctorWho

Wot no animation?! (I’ve already got a WIS recon)
21 July 2017 at 02:15 #61215New Britbox classic trailer…
21 July 2017 at 02:26 #6121621 July 2017 at 03:13 #61217Been travelling, so have not read the million posts that have come in, and Therefore I am absolutely sure that what I am about to say has been well discussed already.
But, since Sydney Newman argued back in 1986 that the Doctor should be a woman in the future:
https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/07/17/sydney-newman-co-creator-doctor-told-bbc-cast-woman-1986/
it is awfully hard (ie, impossible) to take seriously the moaners (ie, sexist pillocks) who think that this change is all about political correctness and is not “true” to the original show (that was created by the same man who said that the Doctor should be changed into a woman).OK, that’s it! I am not engaging in this “defence” that needs no defence any more!

Rest in peace Deborah.
21 July 2017 at 14:47 #61246That’s sad news. And going too young too.

22 July 2017 at 21:16 #6129722 July 2017 at 22:03 #61299The video in the link above has a small spoiler about Xmas (because it was live when I linked it). I’d advise discussion about this small revelation to be conducted over on the Spoilers thread, otherwise we might have to shift the link to over there & that would be a shame…

23 July 2017 at 06:04 #61306Thanks everybody, for (pre?) ComiCon clips — I was away for the weekend and out of touch. Can’t say I’m surprised that PC says he plans to just “vanish” for a while. I think he’s got a lot to think about from this experience of getting his dearest wish from childhood, and having to deal with the many realities of actually doing it — it’s never entirely what you expect, is it? And there will likely be some brooding time too (Scottish, you know). It can’t easy or quick to come down from a high like that, and let go of the inevitable lows as well.
Sheesh, gonna miss this crew no matter what comes after . . .

Michelle Gomez is ace. It’ll be such a shame if this is the end of her involvement in the show because she’s been just fab on and off screen….

26 July 2017 at 20:03 #6146626 July 2017 at 20:23 #61468Fantastic. It seems Mark has had a lot of bonkers ideas. Chibnall should hire him as, at least, an “ideas contributor” to his writing room (if it exists).
28 July 2017 at 12:36 #61503Can’t say I’m surprised that PC says he plans to just “vanish” for a while. 10 August 2017 at 17:30 #61690Earl’s Doctor Who connection is that he appeared in William Hartnell’s regeneration story: The Tenth Planet.
Not only was he a black actor playing an astronaut (in 1966), he was Zeus IV’s captain. Eat your heart out, Star Trek. 😀
15 August 2017 at 14:09 #61724Not exactly Doctor Who, but David Tennant is to star in Neil Gaiman’s adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s ‘Good Omens’
16 August 2017 at 02:16 #61726@mudlark As both a Pratchett and Tennant fan ,I couldn’t be more excited. Going to Google it right now. Thanks.
16 August 2017 at 09:21 #61727Erratum: Having just re-read my post above, I see that in my haste to hit ‘submit’ I failed to spot the inadvertent and misleading omission of a couple of words. It should have read … adaption of his and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens, since they were, of course, co-authors of the said work 😳
