Hello all! Well, the festive season is upon us (either Hanukkah, or Christmas, or a few days off work) and I decided to offer a present. It is a compilation of all the best insults from the perfect Christmas movie, “The Man Who Came To Dinner” (1943). Enjoy.
p.s. I decided to put it on this thread to draw attention away from, well, another thread. And since this thread is about Who, I am getting out the Jammie dodgers in expectation of the return of Who!
23 December 2019 at 01:47 #68656thank-you @/blenkinsopthebrave. That was greatly needed. I came here to forget about a combative issue that has arisen in “R.L” and did not need to find issues here too. I got through my Christmas Dr Who re watch. What a fine episode Twice Upon a Time is, a perfect ending for the Moffat era.
Sadly we cannot buy proper Jammy Dodgers here any more. I keep looking for them. Might have to make some for the New Year’s special, if I have got over the Christmas Baking frenzy by then. (Left it all till yesterday because of the heat and podcast editing.)
Cheers and have a lovely Christmas
Janette
23 December 2019 at 02:22 #68658Despite the heat, have a wonderful Christmas.

@pedant Thanks for the clip and “ditto”.

25 December 2019 at 02:51 #6867625 December 2019 at 03:00 #68677To all my fellow Whovians and their families, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas filled with good food ,good company and laughing children. I wish you peace of mind and a little joy wherever you can find it. Have a great day!
P.S. Call your Mom or Granny and anyone who might be lonely, they will love it.
28 December 2019 at 18:48 #68688I hope everyone has had/is having a great Christmas filled with what matters to each of you—family, friends, food, music, stories. @winston, I’m sorry for your difficult time. I hope the grandchildren filled your day with light!
29 December 2019 at 04:53 #68697@arbutus Thank you for the good wishes. My granddaughters did fill my day with joy and laughter and a little silliness. It was great! The teenager is here for a few days so the house is filled with her friends and her “stuff” and my bathroom is filled with make-up and hair products.Ah the memories.
I hope your holidays are good and filled with love and family.
31 December 2019 at 11:41 #68701Wishing you all a good New Year’s Eve. I know I’m not alone in going into 2020 with a heavy heart, whether for personal reasons or because of the state of the world, but we have Who, and that’s unequivocally a Good Thing. Will see you on the other side, looking forward to hearing what you think of the new episode (whenever and wherever you get a chance to watch it). Hang on in there. Keep on keeping on. Love to all.
31 December 2019 at 15:12 #68702@cathannabel Heavy heart indeed. This is not a New Year’s Eve to celebrate. Sickened right now that fireworks went ahead in Sydney. We did however raise a glass and toast the New Year because we have to hope that it will get better.
Looking forward to Dr Who and Dracula.
Best wishes to all for 2020..
Cheers
Janette
31 December 2019 at 16:21 #68703Echoing @cathannabel‘s New Year wishes for everyone. I hope that more people can find common ground somewhere this year, and that 2020 will be the year that the world finally begins addressing climate change in a way that matters. Meanwhile, there is still beauty in the world, goodness, and the many small things that make life worthwhile. Let’s hang onto them with all the strength we have.
So much love to you all,
Arbutus
31 December 2019 at 17:19 #68704Let me join in wishing everyone best wishes for the new year. I know we seem to surrounded by hubris and stupidity in the world right now, but I think this site shows that there is still a place for whimsy and hope. And especially Doctor Who.
31 December 2019 at 18:44 #68705Hi forum My name is Mark Morris and a big fan of Dr Who since the Hartnel years. I recently made a fan film and wondered what forum members would think of it. I’m thinking of making a full fan film if enough people like it or want to get involved. Anyway Here goes. And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
31 December 2019 at 20:12 #68707Like @cathannabel and @janetteb I am finding it difficult to summon up even a flicker of optimism in contemplating the year ahead, but there is still a hope that at least a few gleams of sunshine may pierce what looks to be – at least to some of us – the impenetrable gloom of the storm clouds ahead. So, to everyone here, my very best wishes for 2020, stay safe (especially those of you in the antipodes), happy Who viewing, and may each of you, whatever your circumstances, find some personal joys and satisfactions / consolations in at least the small things of life.
31 December 2019 at 23:44 #68708HappyNew Year everyone, and NEW DOCTOR WHI TOMORROW!
In my house there is so much booze I’m slightly frightened, we’ve already had two dinners, and someone’s already fell asleep.
1 January 2020 at 00:21 #68709This has been a difficult year and a difficult decade for many of us.
So, may 2020 and the new Twenties become a story of finding light in the darkness. For ourselves, and for the Doctor.
A Happy New Year, especially to those who are finding it difficult right now.
1 January 2020 at 02:54 #68710Hello to all my friends around the world and a Happy New Year!! I have 2hr. and 30 min. to go till midnight so some of you have long beat me to the midnight kiss. So I blow a kiss out to all of you with my hope that next year finds you happy and contented.
Like all of you I wish for more peaceful dialogue between all sides with far more listening and far less shouting. I also hope that everyday, regular people everywhere can demand that our governments address climate change. Not by talking but by doing something, anything , and that we at home can force change by being the change. We can consume less and follow the 3Rs and use less energy or plant some trees or go green or anything you want that is positive change for our planet. I know that is a lot to ask for, but a girls gotta dream eh.
Anyway that is my last rant of the year so……..Happy Who Year ! See you after the episode.
1 January 2020 at 03:05 #68711@blenkinsopthebrave Whimsy is such a lovely word and I agree that we need more of it as well as imagination and fantasy and wishes. Doctor Who is full of all of that and more and I can’t wait till tomorrow night to start a brand new series. I have my Who slippers, t-shirt,scarf and TARDIS mug all cleaned and ready. Treats will be eaten and tea will be sipped and I will fall under the spell of the Doctor and her companions and that magical blue box. I can’t think of a better way to start a new year than with the Doctor. Happy New Year.
1 January 2020 at 10:02 #68712Hi guys, happy who year to you all. My first post and one I hope will answer a question, I found this dalek in a bootsale and added to my collection but maybe I am just not very knowledgeable but why the different bottom, I am trying to remember an episode where a dalek repairs itself?
