    @bluffme this explains the issues over BBC and Doctor Who quite well, I think :here.

    Gidday. Welcome from Oz. I think the BBC is strapped for funds. It isn’t like the channels or the huge production areas available in the US. Even Aus’ own series are 6 hour long-shows. The most loved, Rake, didn’t come out each year & had 7 or maybe 8 eps when it did. The TV shows you’ve mentioned have millions -not just in production…[Read more]

    @bluffme the shows you mention are from American networks, aren’t they? Can’t really compare that to a BBC show.

    @bluffme

    Any reference for this, or are you just quoting a ‘my best friend’s mate who is third assistant focus puller at BBC Cardiff and once went within shouting distance of the Doctor Who set said’ article?

    I take it you don’t work in TV? Just guessing, because you don’t seem to have a clue how much work an effects heavy SF programme is.

    Thumbs up for that, I should love to watch an updated version.

    @bluffme

    I had a look for this. For a start it should be 12 episodes a year. Split it up? The man is bonkers!

    He should try not hogging the writing, like RTD (although he was fun to watch) and giving more writers a chance as Steven Moffat did.

    I did read that he was…[Read more]

    Can only hope the latter is true. Good riddance.

    @bluffme – The others have shown how Doctor Who is all about change, and we have to realize that.  What makes this forum great, though, is that we don’t expect anyone to welcome any change they think is for the worse.

    But what we’re all here for is to talk about the show, not rant about it.  So, please, go ahead and explain where you think the w…[Read more]

    one more piece of proof the he is trying to fundamentally change how The Doctor is perceived. From Jodie Whittakers portrayal of The Doctor and the writing this season and now a new year’s episode instead of Christmas episode he has changed the series beyond salvation. I don’t believe I will watch next season in protest. I definitely am…

    @bluffme – If you look around on this forum you’ll find people both for and against the latest series.  Yes, most of them have been for.

    In my opinion Chibnall making it a New Years Day episode is just one more piece of proof the he is trying to fundamentally change how The Doctor is perceived.

    For those of us with reservations about the changes,…[Read more]

    huh? What did I do? I think I chatted REALLY well with @Bluffme. I was discussing the post and asking ‘propa’ questions of the poster?  at post #66594. But if you think that this person just wouldn’t listen – I get that. They probably wouldn’t. Which is why I being genuinely interested in answers!

    That’s wonderful! (the purse, I mean).  I think they’re not over because (I suspect) after another 2 years they may well return to a male Doctor.

    I meant to say that the purse is the Tardis, and I have some news. It got itself noticed again this morning by a married couple -I assume they were married, but who knows nowadays. I got t…[Read more]

    To me the whole season seemed to be about trying to conform The Doctor to this world view of making sure no one’s feelings get hurt, this generation of people wearing their heart on their sleeve. Where every child should get a trophy

    If it had been that sort of season, Ryan would have ended it by riding a bike. Grace would have s…[Read more]

    I stole that from Maggie Smith.

    Welcome to the forum, I’ve been away for a while and cannot catch up now, but do read the posts – if they aren’t too long. *winks*

    I haven’t watched any of this series, because I am against a female Doctor and I don’t like JW.

  • @bluffme – I loved, loved, loved the Moffat years.  I miss him too.  But @pedant is right.  The show has to grow a new audience, and whatever praise I want to give Moffat, one job of a showrunner is to increase or at least hold steady on audience, and Chibnall has increased it where Moffat didn’t.

    So, yeah, I would like the complex st…[Read more]
