@davidwho   Also the 10th going back and borrowing money from Donna’s dad to buy her a lottery ticket for her wedding. A sure winner I presume.

Wilfs sad eyes that always make me cry.

Harriet Jones, Prime Minister. Yes we know who you are

Captain Jack , where did he hide that gun?

    stay safe.

@davidwho — She must be awfully old by now; like most of us . . . !  But yeah, she did a nifty job.  Thanks for the reminder.

@dentarthurdent  — Yes, yes, a pact!  No dying til RTD is back in the saddle and DW takes off again like the wobbly, wild-eyed rocket it’s always been, at its best.  And yes on music, too.  I have somewhat, ah, odd-i…[Read more]

@davidwho   Hello and a late welcome to the site! your list was lovely and it brought flashes of good memories that make me want to watch all those episodes again.

It is so hard to pick a few choices because there are so many feel good moments in Who. A few spring to mind while many more will come to me later.

@davidwho  — Oh, I don’t forget the eyebrows!  I treasure the memory.  Thanks for congrats on making it to 82 — I forget about it a lot of the time, but then I have to get up and walk somewhere . . . and boy, do I remember!  The Doctor is very old; I can relate!

@mudlark — thanks for the reminder about birthdays!  Libras are the best, espe…[Read more]

Hello and welcome. I don’t post much nowadays, because I refuse to watch a travesty of such a past wonderful series.

Everyone knows my views, so I shan’t bore them by repetition. *grins*

Peter Capaldi is MY Doctor too. He is supposed to be the most ‘alien’ of all the Doctors, and yet I found him to be

the most ‘human.’ Mostly thanks…[Read more]

Welcome to the forum, the home of bonkers theories.

I like your suggestion that the reason the name of a Timelord is not normally revealed is that it can be used to gain access to secret information.  It is reminiscent of the old belief in some cultures that to know a person’s real name was to gain power over them, so that everyone…[Read more]

@blenkindsopthebrave — dear Brave Blenx, thanks for your welcome and encouragement.  Just passed my 82nd birthday, so I can only hope to hang on long enough to see what Davies will do to rescue the wreckage of the show I loved (well, we all did).

@davidwho — I like your speculation re CapDoc and River.  One of those examples of less is more -…[Read more]

  • @davidwho   Don’t worry, you won’t spoil me.   I watched right through to the end of Jodie W’s first season, last year.   Now I’m repeating it, from Eleventh Hour onwards, currently up to Flatline.

I don’t know so much Old Who, though I did see the first episode when it first aired (I’m nearly as ancient as the Doctor, dammit).   Trought…[Read more]

Those are some excellent points which I fear you’ll never get the answer to. There is, however, an excellent novelisation by Steven Moffat himself which is well worth checking out. It does fill in a lot of the background around the story, although I fear that rather than answering your questions, it will present you with a load of new ones.

  • @davidwho     Well, Capaldi is my all-time favourite Doctor too.   He just fits the role so well, complete with his slightly-eccentric mannerisms (mostly courtesy of Steven Moffatt).    I’m currently working my way through the Capaldi era of nuWho and thoroughly enjoying it.

As to the Doctor’s full name being some sort of password or key, yes…[Read more]
