@craig

Confirmation we’re the same age, I think. I grew to loath trips with my dad as he put on his “nice’n’easy” C&W tapes. But his weren’t approaching the calibre of the artistes you mention. 🙁

@lisa

I guess the difference in ages really does tell on this one, but this was the kind of thing my Dad used to play, brilliantly parodied by…[Read more]

It is worth noting that S4 of Buffy broadcast a full 5 years before the return of Who and both RTD and Moff are very open about their admiration for, and inspiration from, Buffy.

Alexis Denisof. Plays Wesley. *spit*

I just re-watched Hush and had forgotten the number of sight gags with Anya (complete indifference to the b…[Read more]

@Lisa Just to clarify, when I said I thought it was brilliant, I thought it was brilliantly put together and was amusing because it DOES represent all that is wrong with a certain type of country that I was, until I heard it, unaware of. What is “Bro-country”? Seems a lot of Country fans don’t like it either which is why it went viral.

I’ve never…[Read more]

@spider     Regarding the trailer, I don’t remember seeing those visuals, but the spoken lines come from Into the Dalek.

@ichabod   Spending time on this forum will definitely change your day. Witness the following:

@Barnable   Mostly Santa dreams he is as cool as the Doctor.  and    I can understand not wanting to think about Santa being i…[Read more]

@lisa   You can count me in with those who find Capaldi’s Doctor seriously attractive!  🙂  And @ichabod and @mudlark, I hope I am never too old to enjoy a bit of a crush (see above remarks about inner self vs. outer self).

Thanks @purofilion (and @pedant elsewhere) for the mention of the Brian Cox series. We have “Science Sunday” in our house…[Read more]

@lisa  — Ya think?!  So does that mean that I can have his hair?  Just the hair part, you know, not the, ah, um, actual head.  Good grief — so now that I’m 75 all of a sudden I like *younger* men?  That’d be new.  I must have just regenerated or something . . . And I get crush-capacity back?  Who knew?  No, wait — that’s the whole reason…[Read more]

@lisa — I wasn’t clear about something, and new it would come round and bite me, so I want to correct my statement “Clara doesn’t care about other people” so that it means what it was supposed to mean: “Clara doesn’t much care how the D sees *other* people, but she cares very much about how he sees *her*.”  I agree that she’s developed a strong…[Read more]

@barnable — @lisa and all — Santa giving a Christmas present of a sort if assisted suicide — My God, I *love* you guys!  I don’t know whether to laugh my self sick, or go jump off the roof.  In any case, I am finding the idea of Santa giving everybody what they want via dream crabs irresistible.  But the professor is a problem: if you were gi…[Read more]

@lisa I thought of jelly babies but didn’t think they were crumbly enough and “bits of jelly baby” just didn’t sound right somehow.

Cheers

Janette

Urgh. Another “Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell” reference. They are tormenting me. (I was hoping it would appear in the Christmas Schedule. Have been keenly awaiting this adaptation for ages.)

Thanks for the link @lisa. Nice to have a few breadcrumbs to nibble as we wait. (or should that be, “jammy dodger crumbs?)

Cheers

Janette

@lisa, well I suppose it depends where one is in Game of Thrones and who it is! I’m not looking, Schrödinger’s spoiler for me. However, I realise this isn’t the Game of Thrones Forum, so I shall just bug out of this thread if needs be 😉

@lisa I think it has been mentioned in the past that we could do a villains retrospective. It does appeal to me. Anyone else have any thoughts?

@bluesqueakpip

Yes, that is my take – Ashley’s life is full of the trappings of success, but emotionally and intellectually empty.

@lisa

Bonkers theories are rather the mission statement around here!

@Bluesqueakpip, @lisa, I know it’s fashionable to be in the Shona camp, but as I am a sort of semi sciency bod (lackey type only), I reckon your on that money and Ashley is the real deal.

@purofilion, I can only read the funny or outrageous political bios. Tried reading Tony Blair’s, kept wanting to punch things

@whisht where has the Dub step…[Read more]

@ichabod, @lisa @purofilion @arbutus we’re properly down the rabbit hole now! What fun, does this often happen? @ichabod, don’t take away our in-dream resolution by pointing out that it is, in fact, a dream…!!! I’m going with @arbutus here (if indeed I’m following all this at all!) that it is real because Clara’s refusal to leave was a tacit…[Read more]

enjoying this thread!

Hi @ichabod – I have a vision of you trying to catch your thoughts in a butterfly net with them fluttering away on their rather beautiful wings. And like all butterflies, they’re rather wonderful thoughts! With you on board the coming months may fly by (and I mean all this in a good way)!

btw I think I agree with you @Lisa…[Read more]

@ichabod – totally take your point about Clara’s tight-rope walking. In wish fulfillment land, of course you would. However, Clara is displaying all the signs of knowing it’s Not OK 😉 Sure, a lot of that is to do with Danny’s incomplete understanding of the situation. Then again, in terms of the pushing too far, putting in danger, he’s right o…[Read more]

although for a moment she tried resisting the Doctors attempts to wake her

Don’t think she did. She was the person who stayed longest in the dream state – but I think that was because she wanted the Doctor to wake her up.

She still believes in fairy-tales at heart; Sleeping Beauty has to be woken by her handsome prince. But also, I think,…[Read more]

@lisa when my SO was in California he was very impressed by the eucalypts. Apparantly they are much healthier over there than they are here which is no doubt a factor in this fire as most of the native trees in the hills are diseased. Fire bombers have been urgently buzzing overhead all day, not a good sound. We live near a gliding club so are…[Read more]

@ichabod

And welcome (again!). You can be who/whatever you like in here, up to you 🙂

@Arbutus and @Purofilion in particular are pretty hot on the technical side of music stuff, but you’ll find a pretty wide range of interests and angles in here, so post away.

@Lisa

Daleks seemed to of been better on the cohesive team work thing which is sort…
