    @pedant – argh, I missed the Housemartins! You may be interested (or not!) to know that you and this forum has meant that whenever I listen to anything posted (especially by you) I tend to open up another tab for the lyrics!
    And @thane16 – I also missed your Joy Division. I really need to listen to more Joy Division. I wasn’t in to them at the t…[Read more]

    ooh – lots of great music here!!

    @pedant
    The Cocker is… amazing. I think that’s the word I’m left with.
    How many do I need to buy/ download??!?
    Also the Dixie Chicks – I’ll admit I’m not a fan but always good to need to listen to music I don’t think I’ll like. I need to confront my prejudices far more often and I cannot fault the sentiment in…[Read more]

    @pedant @lisa

    Fair enough Lisa. You came back after 2 years away, knowing there’s a 1% “i’m a Leaver” on this Forum, by the regulars, to ‘rub it in.’

    Also “hope the next season of Who is better than last year!” comment. If you read many of the regular’s posts in the past year or more, the new season was welcomed by & large. Sure, like anything,…[Read more]

    Nope, I didn’t know that.  That’s me told!   Skittering off to do homework, whilst listening to this song live on YT. Thankyup, totally new to me.

    Absolutely! In fact, I be a tad envious [ahem] I didn’t put that up before.

    It’s his usual arpeggio & chordal treatment but one loves the …..it’s coming ….it’s coming…..chord 1  but not yet…not yet….pedal point it a bit more….& ……da. duuuuum.

    Well, I suppose you could say an 12.8% rate is rare. Sorry, I didn’t know you’d lived in the States (so have I).

    Look, I seem to be misreading you. Please remember that I’m dyslexic and that it’s very easy for me to miss nuances and subtleties. You asked if busy folk have time to read pamphlets and I picked up on that. Your real point…[Read more]

    Man! I didn’t see your reply. Despite the ‘tick’ I’m not getting notifications from the music thread. Possibly because, I’ve been naughty & not nice so yes, a tad of a trigger but also because you know, Thane really liked him & then really despised him. The memes on the internet are pretty funny unless you’re …him. This is like He Who…[Read more]

    I didn’t know that. I knew about Tony Blair when was in my primary school years . The reason not because we studied any politics but because Hugh Grant took on the PM role in Love Actually. Everyone kept saying the character reminded people of Tony Blair

    @pedant duly followed. Incredible. Spawn now has homework. He’s busy reading novels. But with a diet of NorthS***re & docos (the latter from me) he now needs MORE. An appetite for knowledge never to be fulfilled.

    This is your decision. The government will implement what you decide.

    In writing. In the 2016 government leaflet. Sent to every household in the country.

    Aside from the important issue of proportional representation, the other difference between the Australian and U.K. electoral systems that needs to be acknowledged is that for the best part of a century, Australia has had compulsory voting. did Jewish families move accounts off-shore or was this a deliberate ranting?

    It’s a classic anti-semitic trope, and a favourite of the anti-semitic left. All Jews are rich, innit? (‘Rootless cosmopolitan”, although a slur more commonly associated with Nazis was, in fact, nicked from Stalin.)
