I am not sure how I feel about Hugh Grant being the Doctor. He definitely has the talent and I liked his past roles including that of the Doctor, so I am not sure why. He would be a charming Doctor I think.
I guess I will do, like I do ,every time the Doctor regenerates and just except himher as the Doctor. Sort of “oh, that’s what the Doc looks…[Read more]

@janetteb We are good in the Winston house although we are both distressed over Ukraine and a smidge of real life. I have tried to distract myself with other things but it is impossible.
Our government is dropping mask mandates on Monday and frankly I find that worrying. We have decided to continue on the way we have been going, like masks a…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent Sorry to hear that omicron has hit NZ so hard. It is all around us here but so far we have dodged it. I hope you and the Mrs. are not too ill and get through your quarantine unscathed.
I have not watched Smile often because frankly those little killer bots scare me. They are very creepy especially to those who show every e…[Read more]

@blenkinsopthebrave Thanks for the news. I am watching Flux again and really liking it the 2nd time around so it will be nice to see what the Doctor does next. I share your pessimism and also need the distraction which Doctor Who gives me, usually.
When reading or watching movies I don’t like true stories, especially sad ones. I always want…[Read more]

@janetteb I have said that and much worse over the last week. I am so angry and frustrated the bad words just pop out. That anger is rivaled by the deep sadness I feel for the people of Ukraine although my tears help no-one.
Shelling a nuclear power plant is not the act of a mad man but just a power hungry dictator who doesn’t care how many pe…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent I also support the Russians who are protesting in their own country when they know better than any what could happen to them. As usual they are being arrested and dragged away even though they were peaceful. Putin will have his way. What a horrible time it is.

This week has been a truly sad and frightening week for the people of Ukraine and every fair minded and humane person in the whole world is outraged. It is easy to feel utterly helpless being just one old lady living in Canada because my outrage helps nobody. Mr Winston and I have given some money to the Red Cross and urged our government to help…[Read more]

@thane16 hi there! A week of rain can cause a lot of trouble so its good you are on a hill. We live on a creek and have a bit of flooding every spring and every now and then a big flood but we are also up on a hill so we are usually OK. One year the water came up to 4 or 5 feet from the house and it was very tense for awhile. Luckily it re…[Read more]

@janetteb and @dentarthurdent I love both those episodes but I save them for Christmas as they make me feel happy. I am a big fan of River Song and that episode felt like a romantic comedy from the 40s. Doctor Mysterio was a fun episode and Nardole is the bumbling side kick with a heart of gold. He is a companion who really seems to want…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent There is a scene in Hell Bent when Clara asks the Doctor how long he had been trapped in the dial and he tells her it was billions of years. She tears up (so do I ) and asks him why he would do that and the answer he gives is “I had a duty of care” a line I will never forget.

@blenkinsopthebrave @janetteb The only thing I have ever bought myself is a VHS tape of The 1st Doctors 1st episode that I found in a charity shop for a quarter a few years ago. Yet I had to find and refinish a cupboard (Tardis blue!) to hold an ever growing collection of mugs. cookie jar, scarves, books, slippers, cute little Doctor dolls and o…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent These were excellent episodes. The speech the Doctor made had me in tears and if I watch it again I will cry again. It was very powerful and Capaldi is so good.
There was a lot of discussion back then about who was the real Osgood but I can’t remember if we ever knew the answer.

@dentarthurdent We are getting more snow today , so more shoveling tomorrow but not the roof.. The Mr. uses a snow scoop on a flat part of our roof and the rake on the rest. We only have to do it if we get huge amounts of snow or if it is going to freeze rain on top of the snow making it too heavy. We have only one story and after all this sno…[Read more]

@dentarthurdent You were determined to make it to the beach eh! I can’t blame you. We were snowed in until today but even then many rural roads were not plowed yet, but we should be good to go tomorrow. The power stayed on and there was little wind so not a big deal really. The mister spent a lot of time shoveling and today he did the roof…[Read more]

@archier That is funny because most Canadians dream of going somewhere warm in the winter. We got about 2 feet of snow the other night and it is beautiful to look at but very hard to shovel.

@dentarthurdent @janetteb It warmed up to -7C today so that was nice. We are expecting a snowstorm through the night so we may have a lot of snow in the morning. I have charged all devices , gathered up the emergency lights and stocked up extra water in case we lose our power, so I am ready. I also put a couple Doctor Who audio books on my t…[Read more]
