Mixed feelings about this. I found it jarring that the Doctor had such a giant reaction to Ashildr dying, yet in the previous episode seemed to not really care if O’Donnell died.. Or is that just me? Maybe I’m just upset at him; I think he was terribly irresponsible to make Ashildr immortal. Like some of you have said, he’s saved her, but at what cost? Now she has to watch everyone she’s ever loved grow old and die; as @bluesqueakpip ‘s mentioned, she’d initially died in ‘battle’; a glorious and heroic death for the Norse people.

    And in the initial sequence of events, why did Clara need to bring Ashildr along, anyway? She didn’t need her at all (or I haven’t watched closely enough- correct me if she actually did!); Clara could have just used the sonic sunglasses herself and gotten herself beamed up, instead of putting an innocent girl in danger.

    Also, did anyone else think that the “fire in the water” could be a sly reference to GoT- “A Song of Fire and Ice”?

    Just a thought- Why doesn’t the Tardis translate Baby? For that matter, in past episodes, (eg. The Rings of Akhaten and many more), why doesn’t it translate for all the aliens?

    @everyone

    Hi! Whelp, just spent over an hour reading the whole thread to catch up 😛 Really, you guys have covered it all, and the only thing I want to ask is- a few pages back when everyone was talking about Clara theories and there were quite a few Nethersphere ones floating around, and I got reminded of when the boy came back to life at the expense of PE. I was wondering about that- Wasn’t the Nethersphere a virtual reality sort of thing? The people there didn’t have their physical bodies, in a sense, it was just their consciousness, not actually a tangible being of matter. So how did the boy manage to walk through the portal and go from being a consciousness to having a physical body?

    I really think (and still do after this episode) that Clara is the Master, an incarnation prior to Missy who used a chameleon arch to hide her true self.

    Intriguing, but I’d like to point out that in The Rings of Akhaten, The Doctor goes through Clara’s timeline from when she was born to her mother’s death, and it’s established that she is, indeed, a normal human girl.

    @brewski I certainly thought the whole episode gave off a Curse of Fatal Death vibe! Not just the chair and sewers, but the whole “Davros trapped the Doctor but the Doctor was expecting it and had a counter-attack but then Davros had Colony Sarff but then The Doctor knew he would win all along” plot.

    Cool theory! I personally don’t think that Asylum!Clara is Original!Clara, but I’m interested in the possibility that Clara might now be under the influence of the Dalek nanogenes which were inserted into her when she was in the Dalek casing.

    This is very random, but scientists have discovered liquid water on Mars, and as a Whovian, I sincerely hope none of that water makes it down here. *shivers* http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3250431/Has-NASA-discovered-ocean-Mars-Space-agency-poised-announce-major-science-finding-Red-Planet.html

    @kharis Can I join the Mega-Spoiler-Theory club? I won’t repost anywhere, cross my hearts!

    I’ve seen quite a lot of “Clara is CAL”-esque theories all over the web, (I think someone on this thread also mentioned it) and it may be just my nitpicking, but- if CAL was one of the Claras which were a result of her entering The Doctor’s timestream, then shouldn’t her name also be Clara, instead of Charlotte Abigail Lux? Furthermore, the Clara fragments were “born to save the Doctor”- I don’t particularly remember CAL doing anything which protected/saved the Doctor, although she did help in “saving” River.

    By the way, I’m not quite sure if this post belongs here as it doesn’t really have to do with TWF, so apologies if it doesn’t!

    Well, what do you splendid people think of the Sonic Sunglasses? I think it’s simply put there so the BBC has more merch to sell, but I do hope to see the trusty Screwdriver making a return soon!

    Hi! Sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if there is a thread which revolves around the topic of a Female Doctor? Thank you!

    @phaseshift *SPOILERS* Well, Clara has been confirmed to be leaving this series, so it’s really fitting!
