If you are only to where Shane reanimated then my best advice is to not dig too much into what the Internet says. The show will explain how and why people reanimate. As River would say ‘Spoilers!’ I would rather not ruin that piece of the story for you.

Everything is good now. I was hit from behind in my car coming home from work, which totaled it. Also, my wife’s grandmother passed away. It has been a rough month or so but life goes on and so must I.

My wife and myself absolutely love ‘The Walking Dead’ as well. In fact, we are watching the last episode before the winter break right now before the new one comes on. Being the comic book nerd I am I also read the comics.

As for the unfortunate Southern accent, I was born with one so I can sympathize. šŸ˜‚

Hello all. Sorry I have been MIA recently. I’ve been working way too much and had a few unfortunate instances of life fall at my doorstep. All is returning to normal though and I hope now I can return to being a regular part of the conversation once again. Hope everyone has been well in my absence. Anyway, Allons-y and Geronimo! (I have now made it to the Matt Smith series and am loving him as the Doctor)

Being new to doctor who and just now watching these two episodes I have to say that, Ā besides ‘The Empty Child’, these two episodes are my favorite so far.

I’m not going to break down the episode, as that has been done quite well in the thread previously. There were some great moments in these episodes though.

Seeing the joy on The Doctor’s and Rose’s face when they first see each other in person. Then immediately The Doctor is shot by a Dalek. The cliffhanger of the doctor regenerating at the end of stolen earth must have been nail-biting when the next episode wasn’t 17 seconds away (sometimes being behind is a good thing).

Rose. Oh dear Rose. Many don’t like Rose but she is my favorite companions. With that said I see everything in her that people don’t like. For some reason though those things make me like her more. I loved seeing her a little more battle hardened to show you that though we haven’t seen her she has been busy. The pay off at the end where she gets the version of the doctor who can love her made me hold my wife a little tighter.

….. Freaking DW… making a grown man catch a case of the feels..

Donna, dear Donna Noble, I can honestly say that I did like you at first. Donna’s character development through her being the companion was just great. These two episodes made me love her though. Seeing her be the hero and then have every shred of her adventures taken away was so heart breaking.

So many more things but I will keep it short. I honestly thought these two episodes are in my top three that I have watched so far.

@jimthefish yeah it’s starting to look as though this maybe a move to sale some physical copies of DW. I guess that isn’t so bad. I’ve been setting some money aside for a collection anyway. Hopefully the sales are good so they don’t cut into my comic book money. 😜

AG is just an abbreviation for after gap.

I’ve had Hulu before. The selection is good. The only reason I cancelled it is because I have cable and could watch all the shows when they aired. If I wasn’t cursed with Comcast, which has a data cap on their Internet, I would drop the cable and just use Hulu.

If this is the wrong place to post this please let me know. I looked in the episodes section and there wasn’t a section for this episode. I just finished watching the episode ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ from season 4 (AG) while I was holding my two year old daughter as she fell asleep. The look of loss and pain in The Doctor’s eyes when he thinks his daughter has died made me hold my daughter a little tighter. Oh the feels! One of the many reasons I love this show.

@missy and @puroandson Thank you both for the warm welcomes. I believe I have stumbled across a nice community to share my love for all things DW.

Well a little good news (at least for me). I decided to check my on demand from my cable provider since I have BBCamerica and lo and behold the have all of the AG episodes. I didn’t take the time to see if the had all of the specials but my crisis has been averted, at least for now.

@craig with Netflix being my primary way of watching DW this saddens me very deeply. I am a new fan of the show and am only on season 5. I will now have to find an alternative way of catching up on the show (maybe Hulu or Amazon Prime). It blows my mind that a good show, that I’m sure so many people love, is leaving but 90% of the other garbage stays. I don’t know all of the ins and outs of why it will no longer be available but it sucks for those of us in the States who love the show. If I didn’t like the Marvel shows, Peaky Blinders, and Sherlock so much I would probably cancel my subscription due to this news.

@arbutus I suspect that my lack of interest in Donna so far is just from lack of experience with the character. As I said before being fairly new to the series Donna’s run as companion has just started for me. I don’t dislike her and hopefully she will grow on me as Martha did.

I, too, thought that SM handled the Captain Jack character a little better than RTD. Although, my love for the character may be based more on the fact that I love John Barrowman in just about everything he does.

@craig You are correct, sir. Obvious troll is obvious. As @arbutus said the second comment got to me more than the first. Next time deep breath and keep scrolling.

@zepyr101 the TARDIS translates other languages to proper English. As well as. translating English to whatever language is used at their present location.

Also calling it England English is like saying Italy Italian. That just sounds ridiculous. Do you call what you speak American English? I hope you aren’t from America by the way. We have enough people giving us a bad name already.

As far as my opinion on the content of this thread. I am still fairly new to DW, with zero experience with BG companions. In my opinion though Rose was a fantastic companion. She is the stick by which I measure other companions. I did enjoy Martha’s short run as companion, and have not been thrilled by but still enjoy Donna.

By far my favorite companions so far would be between Rose and Captain Jack (if we are considering him a companion).

@pedant Thank you. I am just now, Ā as I type this, Ā starting episode 5 of season 4 so I have a good little bit before I am caught up but from what I have seen so far I like how RTD ran the show in these episodes. I am excited to see the direction that Moffat took the show as well since he wrote some of my favorite episodes so far. My wife and I also love Sherlock so we were introduced to Moffat before we discovered the wonderful world of the Doctor.

@winston Thank you for the welcome. I knew there had to be some people from the same continent as me on here😁 As I made my account I figured that my favorite word from the show (so far) would be appropriate as a username.

@kharis Thank you. Ā I am enjoying the sofa so far!

Hello all. I recently joined the forum and wanted to properly introduce my self. I am from Knoxville, Tennessee in the US. Ā I am fairly new to the Doctor Who universe, but my wife and myself have quickly fell in love with the show. We recently started watching the show on Netflix, starting with the 9th doctor, Ā while the shows we normally watch were on mid season breaks. Now I fear that it may replace a few of my other shows. I hope that through conversations here on the forum I can learn more about the show and share my thoughts on my new obsession.
