@pedant It took me a few minutes after watching to post because of the swell of emotions this brought. I miss my Mom and Dad so much but I was so lucky to have had them for parents and to have known them as people. Love is a gift. Thanks.

@pedant

Yes, TARDIS Crew didn’t dress up for the time period most of time in AG DW and never in the few BG DW episodes I have watched. I don’t know why people start complaining about it now.
As for the episode itself I don’t anymore constructive to add besides I felt it was rushed in the beginning and the end but mostly good ,and Kine James…[Read more]

It isn’t at all that I want or expect that a work of fiction, whether in a novel or drama, should adhere to facts at a documentary level; I do know the difference. It would, though, help me to suspend disbelief if there were, to adapt a quotation from W.S.Gilbert, enough ‘… corroborative detail … to give…[Read more]

@idiotsavon On the subject of names, I don’t disagree with the principle. And yet, I recall that while Tennant and Capaldi were mostly called by last names, Matt Smith was very often “Matt”. Due to youth, perhaps, or personality? There might be a bit of that element with the use of Jodi (as well as the…[Read more]

I would class it as ‘people wanting something to moan about,’ and I suspect that in some cases, it definitely is. One poster on T’Other Place was, for example, insisting that it was an example of ‘lazy writing’ even when I’d pointed out that the decision to NOT dress Team TARDIS in period costume had to get past the Director, the Costume…[Read more]

@pedant At last, a much needed public service to all DW fans some of the time and some DW fans all of the time! Thanks for the giggle; I needed it! Well, we all need it some of the time . . .

@pedant That should make things easier for some people.

They got the hanging right! They got witches in England being hanged right!

@pedant I agree that Alan Cummings’ James VI and I was one of the highlights. But there were so many highlights. The Doctor being ducked as a witch was one of those things that was just going to happen when she regenerated as female, the monsters were suitably monstrous,…[Read more]

@pedant Sorry about that, my bad. Is open now. I got dragged into a building meeting that went on much longer than expected.

@pedant Thanks for the link. We’re not losing pubs (well, bars) around here; we’re gaining lots of little independent breweries, which seem to be blossoming in every US city with a halfway decent economy. We’ve also got a massive alcoholism problem that’s been going on for a while under the radar because our opioid epidemic has taken the sp…[Read more]

@pedant @mudlark Jesus H Christ On A Bike, ichabod. That you even gave such transparent horse shit credence does not reflect well on you.

Don’t be daft! Who says I gave it credence? I said I’ve seen pub closures attributed to this “cause”, and am pleased to read comments on it here that throw more light on the subject from folks who’d kno…[Read more]

@fatmaninabox a sort-of kebab (no calculator but with chilli) as I mentioned that….person. 🙁

@mudlark

Now, mudders! Definitely you wrote a post describing the furious winter experience from which I took a “whoa, THAT’S a serious winter. That. Right there.” 😉

Not to worry. If it was more humorous than, “awful. This is awful” awful then…[Read more]

@mudlark and @pedant Surely the growing disparity between income and cost of living is a factor. It certainly is here. A single drink equates to half an hour’s wage for young people, those that are working that is. In Oz student benefit and unemployment benefit have not risen since the early 1990s (when my partner and I were recipients of the…[Read more]

@pedant Trolling Score thanks for the technical update and the troll. To correct this is just religious bs hatred.

@pedant

uhm? Did I say “no arc?”

THANE? Did you?

Definitely hints of arcs. For instance the crack in the wall was very little -at first (as an idea/arc. Cute! The crack had. An. ARC. Geddit?? ROFL!). OK, seriously now, the crack continued right to the end of Smith’s era. Other little arcs and clues such as “I was born under a clock” says…[Read more]
