    @Pedant @Miapatrick I had a thought last week that there might be an arc based on the SkyHigh company that the targeted bloke’s Dad owned – that there was a reason he was targeted by an alien *predator*. I mean, why pick him?

    Might still be right.

    Personally, I don’t think we’ve seen much of the new TARDIS, but what I’ve seen so far I love.

  • Miapatrick replied to the topic The Ghost Monument

    @pedant there was something in her reaction to it that caught my attention, I’d almost missed what it was they said. It’ll be interesting to see how this series pans out.

  • Miapatrick replied to the topic The Ghost Monument

    @pedant arc is definitely on. Hint of a Big Bad, and, I didn’t entirely catch what the bandages were saying to the Doctor – Timeless Child? Something she doesn’t remember?

    @pedant Hi I have read this information (finally) on the Pub pgs . You said :

    PSA: Anecdote is not the singular of evidence.

    What did that mean?

    There was discussion of something to do with aspirin which indicates excellent health benefits for people with heart conditions. So, one more day for Episode 2.

    @pedant

    Here’s Kevin Smith on his diet – which he got from Penn Jilette (of magicians Penn & Teller) who also had a health scare.

    I don’t know if this is of any use, hopefully not condescending – but it shows you’re not alone.

    Good luck.

    @pedant

    I liked that. Mum showed me the first one you made a few weeks ago? Really liked the ‘ums’ sped up. Hope you’re not in agony at all. Or it’s bearable.

    Thane.

    @notime

    Yep, it’s called the Opening Title or Title sequence or Intro as opposed to “outro.”

    @madtimetravellingscot A narrative in this instance was a called plot. ‘A’  happened then ‘B’ then ‘C’ with lots of discussion about what was happening in between. Felt like a very real situation: whether travelling on late night “ghost train” or “siege…[Read more]

    @pedant As everyone has said, sorry to hear about the diagnosis. I had a few problems recently and had to go for blood tests but thankfully turns out I just need to “stop smoking, drink less and eat more fruit and vegetables” – which is what I think all doctors say to everyone. Have subscribed.

    Seriously though, my boss was diagnosed with Type 2,…[Read more]

    Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. Do take care of yourself. Duly liked and subscribed btw.

    @pedant Commiserations on your diagnosis.  My other half was diagnosed with Type 2 about 9 years ago and has been stable on Metformin and statins ever since.  We made various dietary changes, reducing fat and salt as much as sugar, given that he wasn’t actually overweight (funnily enough he was sent on a Diabetes day course to find out all about d…[Read more]

    Thumbs up from me, and best of luck. I’m not signed up to YouTube – at least not yet – so can’t do the same there, but maybe I should think about it.

    With you all the way on the subject of the NHS. My experience of it over the past few years has been amazing. And yes, they do take chest pains very seriously indeed. Trouble was, for…[Read more]

    You do pay for health care via the NHS, in your national Insurance Stamp.

    There are always salads, not hot to prepare.

    So, you are Type two, that’s great news, no injections.

    You sound as if you are you up for the challenge.

    Good luck

    @pedant, quoting @Kharis  Every show a self-contained story” sounds to me like a return to 100% “monster of the week” and no need to bother staying for the end, because there’s no chance of failure, and everyone ends up exactly as they started so the next “self-contained story” can toddle on without any continuity with what came before.…[Read more]

    I’m not sure about the fact that Graham has cancer.

    OK. Sorry, why?

    I look a million dollars and I’m half dead. No kidding. I have a paramedic watching this as I type and he’s performing a truly hideous job/procedure (these doods get paid far too little).  Yesterday I was in the garden for 4 hours. Last night I had some peeps over fo…[Read more]

    I liked Segun Akinola’s music, so there you are. And, much as I loved Murray Gold’s music (I own the CDs), by the end of Peter Capaldi’s run I really was feeling as if he’d said what he had to say for Doctor Who.

    Followed by falling over.

    Indeed Gold has made it clear, “it was a pastiche, basically. It was bloody hard. It was mainly samples.”

    For the whole 1st season!  Later, Foster did quite a bit of the incidental music. I’d say that Akinola is at the stage Gold was at in 2002-03. We ought to give him time to develop. As for arcs,…[Read more]
