    This series just gets better and better. I felt last week that we had pieces of a puzzle that did not fit together. However the shape of the picture was there but without the conclusion it lacked meaning and what a conclusion it was. I have yet to rewatch, preferring to leave a day or so between viewings.

    Everything I could say has been said and…[Read more]

    @CountScarlioni They put out some pictures from next episode out today and 1 has
    a very good look at the box. The shots don’t look very spoilery and are on the Doctor
    Who news site.

    @CountScarlioni Sorry I missed that post. Could be? It’s another paradox.
    Probably just a device to give the Doctor the upper hand. I think it would be
    interesting if it ends like the movie “They Live” but I doubt that will happen.

    When the Doctor was stroking the Zygon control panel on the screens around him the words
    ‘Sapphire’ popped…[Read more]

    Absolutely. I think that is an excellent prediction about the Osgood Box.

    @lisa Brilliant!  Remember ME!

    <span class=”useratname”>@countscarlioni  That was a heartbreaking song, and certainly could be the direction we are going.

    @starla  the one who travels to New Mexico, is zygon Kate. We don’t see what happens to her once the police officer changes into a zygon

    Well, not exactly — but our last shot of Kate — isn’t she holding up and looking at what sure looks like a zygon finger or something?  I thought, if she’s a zygon copy but a *good* one, she’s taken out a *ba…[Read more]

    @countscarlioni Brilliant, on the ‘box’ being empty.  I like it.  Also Kate as Zygon-Kate, this could work very well.

    The school called Draketown

    Well-spotted! Excellent – serpent theories can continue unabated 🙂

    @iusedtobethedoctor Hi there – I’m about 200 miles North of you… I disagree however that Clara’s fate is to end up as the C…[Read more]

    wow – @countscarlioni – amazing not-actually-bonkers-bonkerising!!

    Kate not really ‘Kate’ but having voluntarily being Zygonned to deal with this threat – brilliant!!
    The Osgood Box being a placebo – brilliant again!

    I have nothing to add to everyone’s great bonkerising and great insights into this episode.
    Instead, some minor spots of…[Read more]

    I relish the more subtle and multi-layered episodes which have featured under Moffat’s aegis but, as must have been apparent from my brief post yesterday evening, I thoroughly enjoyed the change of pace and mood in this, and disbelief did not need to be suspended; it was nowhere to be seen (maybe slipped out for a pint at the local). I did wonder…[Read more]

    Thanks for the link! @bendubz11  Its always encouraging when others are having similar thoughts.

    @countscarlioni It was delightful to see Osgood, and I really like how she played it as there being no difference, it didn’t matter which she was as she and her sister were true twin-hybrids.  And that conversation – question mark u…[Read more]

    @doctordoctorwho  Turmezistan… what?

    Uh . . . chief export, turmeric?

    @jphamore  the two real leaders who made the human-Zygon peace treaty, the Doctor and Kate Stewart, must be shown to not be incompetent fools. They must have a plan, or be able to devise a plan on the spur of the moment to make it look like they had a plan, so that we can tru…[Read more]

    @CountScarlioni

    the writer was careful to get other facts correct. Ashildr/Lady me tells the Doctor, for example, that the life expectancy in England in 1651 is 35.

    Another interesting and perhaps significant point;  I don’t think that anyone in 17th century England would have considered mortality in that statistical light.  Lady Me, who had s…[Read more]

    @CountScarlioni     Well, I agree with her. I don’t want Clara to die, either. I feel she’s earned a better end to her story. But I also hope that her exit is worthy of the road she’s travelled to get there!

  • Arbutus replied to the topic The Woman Who Lived

    @ichabod   Well, that’s a point. But if they do go in that direction, I hope we see something new in the treatment of it, as we have just spent an entire series on the question. Possibly there are other existential questions the Doctor might be driven to look at?

    @CountScarlioni    It wasn’t so much the idea of Clara dying, but of dying in that…[Read more]

  • Arbutus replied to the topic The Woman Who Lived

    @CountScarlioni   Oh, that’s dark. We’ve even had it foreshadowed by Clara in the Dalek casing. But I can’t really believe that the show, still being a family show after all, would go all the way down that path?

    @purofilion  @ichabod   I’m not so sure that “Am I a good man?” is really an issue here. While Ichi is right and we will probably al…[Read more]

    We could argue about ‘true love’ but as Missy says “can you humans understand the meaning of real friendship?” This is true love – as true as any sexual love, and as some Greeks would have it, truer and longer lasting than most other forms which flit and fly by on the ether.

    Fully agree. Or perhaps along the lines of a…[Read more]

    Just a few more random thoughts and observations before tomorrow and the next episode.

    Firstly, the resemblance between the outfit worn by Ashildr/Me in the background of the selfie, and that of Clara’s mother which sharp-eyed @Kharis spotted.  It probably is just the writers tweaking our tails – as @pedant said, ‘Beware the chain yank’, and the…[Read more]
