My question is was PC dressed in his Dr get up?
As there seemed to be a bug deal on focussing on his hand and that wedding band….
May just be his and his suit, but it seemed to scripted for that not to be…
2 August 2013 at 11:28 #14822Currently re-reading a trio of James Lovegrove books called the “Age Of….” Ra/Zeus/Odin
Each set where the respective pantheons have become real and peoples interactions with them. Age of Zeus for example is where the Greek gods have come back, put their foot down and stopped all war at the expense of mankinds freedom and respective atrocitites.
Pretty good books 🙂
31 July 2013 at 12:11 #14649Shhhh, lets not mention that.
Really, if you want to get into it, I suppose Tennant is the one I watched and got hooked on, Post Gap.
Have watched the odd Pre-Gap on youtube but never made an issue of it. Most of my knowledge comes of spending (lots of) time on WIkipedia.
26 July 2013 at 07:54 #14416Hehehe, I enjoy the trolls, they add colour (a disturbing shade of puce I believe)
Really cannot wait, I always felt Mcgann got short shrift, he in fact, really was ‘my doctor’ as the TV movie was the first one I watched as a child!
(Didn’t own a TV when reboot started so didn’t know it was on until last episode or two)
1 July 2013 at 15:17 #13059I loved Blink.
When I saw this one it really chilled me, and I love the easter eggs.
This one, I think dealt in the believable (if you’ll allow me to stretch a metaphor). Who hasn’t sat there in front of a painting / statue / random animal (Swans for me-evil buggers) and thought its watching them? Thought there maybe was something…behind the looking glass?
Add that to the easter eggs, I’m suprised nobodys ever tried that. Hell, I’m suprised Moffat hasn’t tried that on Who DVDs.
I think the Angels definately lost something, I think it was hearing them speak personally. Listening to them smacked too much of the Vashta Nerada and hearing them. Something that shouldn’t have been repeated.
Anywho, one of my favourite AG episdoes 🙂
20 June 2013 at 13:55 #12665They could even have him start regeneration but not be able to complete it (remember Tennant being unconcious in The Xmas Episode?) and -with a doctor lite episodes have Clara pilot the Tardis to somewhere he can recuperate.
Could that be Trenzalore? Fall of the Eleventh meaning thats where he regenerates / has to be brought to absorb some timey wimey wibbly energy?
19 June 2013 at 15:30 #12583DO we need a thread for ‘Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer”?
Given @craig was annoyed by the Face of Boe question, and I’ve probably annoyed him with Vaccous comments (not sure I even know what Vaccous means 😉 ) it may be a place for anything anyone has a question on but doesn’t quite fit into an existing thread (plus if you had a question about say, the TV Movie – where do you ask?)Thoughts?
18 June 2013 at 15:26 #12490Ha, Brilliant! Love it.
Or Harriet Jones was not killed by the Daleks, she was taken hostage by Zygons who are using her to try and take over Earth, After all, everyone knows who she is!
Speaking of which, did they ever supply a good explanation for why people couldn’t remember things like Daleks/ Cybermen in London? Or the Cyberking in Victorian London in the Special? THought it was down to the cracks but they’re fixed now so it should be a part of ‘history’
EDIT: WHat I want to know is how the GI got them from Victorian London halfway across te galaxy to Trenzalore. Also, he manifested rather a quickly for a being of information at a time when there is no information network
18 June 2013 at 10:05 #12483I want to have been thrown a bone and we get Jack or Martha or someone in.
And find out they’ve been a Zygon for years.
Proper hard hitting betrayal of everything we thought we knew
17 June 2013 at 16:26 #12430Yeah, but I’m marrier with kids now, so my self control issues have been (mostly) tamed compared to the old days. So it has to come out one way or another.
Test subject accepted, Email Spam filter set up 😀
Ta 🙂
17 June 2013 at 12:43 #12402Hahaha, I thought I was special.
Should have known really!I assume we are talking about Chameleon4rch? A few people have now friended but I don’t think I’ve seen any of them active.
Tempted to friend just to see what happens, but thats a trait I’m trying not indulge!
13 June 2013 at 11:33 #12195….But she loves me!

10 June 2013 at 15:59 #12122I imagine Moffat is walking around the BBC with a rather large stick at the moment.
They are either leaking the info on purpose / making stories up to keep it in the public eye or as @bluesquekpip states, there’s somebody need-a-firing at the BBC8 June 2013 at 10:26 #12048If they have to announce because they’ve een gazumped, I really hope Moff has just convinced a mate to pretend to be the new Dr and they’re just lying for the reveal!
5 June 2013 at 23:53 #11922Shazzbot- don’t worry about it. I didn’t think it classed as a spoiler but I knew some people might which is why I gave lead in.
It’s a fair point and I’ll err to ubercaution.
IANAFIAAFM- cant see why he’d know but I’d love some firefly / who crossover. Adam Baldwin would be brilliant as a companion. 🙂5 June 2013 at 16:48 #11888Well, spoilers are below but relevant spoilers that may not be spoilers. So, if you’re senstive, don’t look below the line….
Really
Don’t tempt yourself!
Really
Really
Really
I’m giving you every chance(And please, move this to spoilers if it costitutes one, I don’t class it as one but some people may)
Will Wheaton (yeah, Wesley!) has apparantly said on twitter that the part has been cast. He apparantly thought that everyone ‘in the know’ would know by now. He didn’t say who, but apparantly he has tipped Chiwetel Ejiofor (Serenity) in the recent past
4 June 2013 at 16:51 #11835Can we have a warning siren embedded at any mention of Troll Alert. I just think it’d be funny watching people at work trying to frantically turn volumes down..
*looks over shoulder*
If we’re going child actor, I would have loved to see Mara Wilson (Matilda – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mara_Wilson) do it. Think she was a genuinely good actor and probably still is but she’s “out of the game” so to speak.
Wouldn’t mind an established actor, but they’d have to be damn good to get past the Tom Cruise factor. I think Robert Carlyle would do n excellent job, he was really good in Stargate Universe (now there’s a show cancelled before its time!)
And speaking of cancelled, Alan Tudyk. If he could do a passable english accent I would LOVE to see him as the Dr!
3 June 2013 at 16:30 #11760Not read all the comments yet, but as a ginger myself, if the new Dr is a ginge, I shall stop watching, start reading the Daily Mail and grow old(er) and bitter(er).
Fe**ing gingers!2 June 2013 at 01:25 #11569I jut swore, loudly. And woke my missus up!
If we’re going older – Patrick Stewart.
Picard and The Doctor all in one. Awesome!30 May 2013 at 12:20 #11361IMO, I don’t think the leaf is significant except what it means to Clara.
I saw that Graveyard as a “place where things may happen” – almost like they’re in his head.
The leaf was just used to ground Clara and make her sit up and listen as she was completely out of it for a moment.
She seems to be ‘re-intergrated’ after travelling through his time stream and thats where he found her.
A question though – did the doctor also travel through his own time stream – did he change anything?
29 May 2013 at 09:59 #11281Gah. I hope he doesn’t fit him in.
Never liked Roger Moore as an actor28 May 2013 at 12:19 #11196I’m stil going with my theory that HurtDoc fought with the Daleks in the Time War. Somehow.
I wonder if they chose John Hurt (over say Ian Mckellen or I dunno, John Malkovich) because we’d refer to him as Hurt Doc or Doc Hurt etc and its a meta reference to his character? Could they be that sneaky?
I want more Gallifrey. Memories are good but I want them.
And what was in that damn time war book?!

Interesting that Hurt is wearing black and Smith / Tennant are wearing white.
Its probably his first filmed scene. I don’t think that means anything at all apart from Hurt looks like a posh farmer
20 May 2013 at 12:34 #9993As someone mentioned a few pages ago.
GI being an element of change….of Chaos perhaps?Clara being Order? GI and Hurt wear black….
Black Guardian for the 50th? (Yes, I’m going to punt that constantly 😛 )
Really though. THere is some information on the Time War. The Wiki pages contain sources from RTD and Moff at Cons / Confidential. I’m not going to assume its all right but I find this interesting
The Last Great Time War pitted the Time Lords themselves against the Daleks of Skaro.[1] The specific incident that sparked the conflict remains unclear, but according to executive producer Russell T Davies, the origins dated back to the encounters of the Doctor with the Daleks. In Genesis of the Daleks (1975), the Time Lords—having foreseen the possibility of the Daleks conquering the universe—send the Fourth Doctor into the past in an attempt to avert the Daleks’ creation, or affect their development to make them less aggressive.[2]
In retaliation for this ultimately unsuccessful mission, the Daleks attempt to infiltrate the High Council of the Time Lords with duplicates of the Fifth Doctor in Resurrection of the Daleks (1984), followed by an open declaration of hostilities by one of the Dalek Emperors in Remembrance of the Daleks (1988).[3]
Two specific events led up to the outbreak of the war: A peace treaty was attempted by President Romana under the “Act of Master Restitution” (a possible reference to the otherwise-unexplained trial of the Master on Skaro at the beginning of the 1996 television movie). This attempt was followed by the “Etra Prime Incident” (The Apocalypse Element), which some say “began the escalation of events”.
I find this interesting as we know Rassilon was nuts due to trying to ascend the Time Lords to beings of though and energy.
What if…the TIme War was already under way and the Dr (Hurt) found out about the plan, and sided with the daleks.Actually fought on the side of the Daleks for ‘Peace and Sanity” to stop the destruction of the Universe?
Imagine what that would do?
In this, he could be Mcgann – Ecclestone or Future Valeyard (IF he somehow ended up back in the Time War. Maybe we’ll even revisit Genesis and start the TIme War?)
19 May 2013 at 02:29 #969819 May 2013 at 00:45 #9678Wasn’t mind blowing, but the fact it was post library. It was listed innocuously, but it revealed a lot imo
19 May 2013 at 00:29 #9674Bloody hell that was good!
The thing that’s been staring us in the face?
Soufflé! Bloody souffleMy initial thoughts were that he was time war, but prisoner zero is a nice thought.
And that place was like a time lord waiting area, all in his head really which was why he was still linked and recreated the leaf.14 May 2013 at 10:32 #9022Bah. Cricket talk and I’m not here!
The Vampire Monster in RoA – Harold Larwood. This is how Australia and Lords (after the fact) saw him?
Everything that is happening is an attack on the Doctor- Bodyline?
13 May 2013 at 13:21 #8903AVOID WIKIPEDIA.
Its already been hacked (though now re-edited)
13 May 2013 at 13:18 #8900@PhileasF
I always liked Ghost in the Shell (TV) take on it. It’d tell you in the Opening Credits if it was a Complex (Arc) episode or Stand alone.Hmmm..I need to watch that again. Its been too long
13 May 2013 at 13:01 #8896Don’t worry. I won’t.
Kinda disgusted at myself (Especially as I technically should be working!)
13 May 2013 at 12:48 #8893I have no self control and have just read an episode synopsis.
Not gonna give anything anyway, but I ALWAYS do that.
Blah
13 May 2013 at 12:11 #8885I was….meh.
I liked it but it didn’t seem to grab me.
The Cyberhand made me laugh (Its Thing from the Addams Family) and I agree with the comment that 3/4 Cybermen would have been creepier than 30040348374872384234 or however many.
Overall, solid and likeable but could do better. 6.5/10
(Hark at me, rating it like I’m qualified to)
My prediction, the WHOLE thing over the last three seasons (or more)… Black Guardian.
Establish Chaos by getting the Doctor to do bigger, badder, bolder things and disrupting whole systems.
He nullified it a bit by getting Erased by Oswin, but the GI has been used to reconstruct it for other species (after all, the BG wouldn’t be affected by it).
Clara is the White Guardians attempt to help the Doc. But, they were forced to flee by the Time War (and diminished), but the Chaos that called helped the BG get stronger but the WG can’t and is still weak.
Maybe Clara is the embodiment of the Key of Time?
10 May 2013 at 14:27 #8428Quick question, looking through Wiki (avoiding work!) and came across this paragraph about the Time War
the Master, renegade Time Lord and nemesis to the Doctor, as they believed him to be the “perfect warrior for a time war”. It’s implied that they gave him a full new set of regenerations as was done to all Time Lords fighting in the war, and that the Eye of Harmony could be used as a means to gain more regenerations. However, after the Dalek Emperor gained control of the Cruciform, the Master deserted his post, used the chameleon arch to disguise himself as a human and escaped to a time period shortly before the end of the universe. Genetically a human, he escaped the destruction of all Time Lords as well as detection by the Doctor – who was unaware of his resurrection in the first place. The Master also remained ignorant of the latter phase and outcome of the war until told by the Doctor many years later.”
That bit about new regenerations, I can’t remember anything about that. Can anyone shed a light?
9 May 2013 at 16:51 #8339I would like to see Donna back. I really didn’t want Catherine Tate as I hated her sketch show. But I ended up quite liking her.
9 May 2013 at 14:44 #8324Thanks Shazzbot.
I’ve been saying Omega is coming for a few years now (no real reason, just gut feeling) and I predicted Rassilon as well.
Mind you, I did think it was The Rani who picked up the Masters Ring. WOuld have been a Lot better IMO!
I always saw the ‘Friends’ thing as ‘friends of the family’ IE, her mum / dads friends who she knew and was friendly with, rather than her mates.
9 May 2013 at 14:41 #8322As for NiS- I think they’ve nicked an idea from the Borg.
Picard got taken to be a SpokesBorg for them in S3/S4(?), and I think they’ve geneswipe the Doctor and clone a CyberLord.
9 May 2013 at 14:24 #8319Phew. FInally caught up!
Phone doesn’t like replying on here and toooo busy at work!
ANyway, I liked TCH, thought it was a decent little story.
As for predictions…
The Doctor travels to Trenzalore (sp) and finds out…its New Gallifrey!
THere were a couple of other surviors who took the Looms to create new timelords (the book Lungbarrow. Not sure on the canonicity of the books/radio etc) and started up a new race of timelords.
The silence is his silence when his Jawdrops 😀
Either that or Omega has masterminded the whole thing
