@gamergirlavatar What she said… I think you have expressed just what I feel about this episode and P.C. I recently re watched the series and have just watched the Christmas Specials. In the last one when he realised that it has been 24 years since he gave Grant the crystal the repressed grief was palpable. Peter’s face conveys such emotional…[Read more]

Thank you for you for you kind and sensitive post. Like ichabod, you didn’t hit me with a verbal sledge hammer like one of our members.
My opinion and feelings about series 13 and the casting thereof, count as much as all the “Fors.” It matters not whether they are illogical to some or not, they are my opinions and I’m allowed…[Read more]

@gamergirlavatar Very well said on all points. I had mixed feelings initially about the choice of new Doctor, especially as the only roles I have seen Jodie W’ in are not very Doctorish but she is clearly a fine actor and so I look forward to seeing her as the Doctor because I think she will bring something fresh and new to the role and I also…[Read more]

@gamergirlavatar I’m a lot more nervous about Chibnall than I am about Whittaker, myself, but that’s because Moffat is the kind of writer whose work I enjoy — for its energy, its daring, and its intelligence — and I’ve found what I’ve seen of Chibnall’s work flatfooted and draggy. But maybe the DW challenge will bring out some spark in him t…[Read more]

Well good for you.
I am against a Female doctor, it’s always been a MALE, so why change. Political correctness naturally.
But as I’ve posted before, I shall watch the first two episodes, and if i don’t like them I shan’t watch the rest.
The thing is, apart from the above, I have never liked Jodie W, so, for me a double…[Read more]

@gamergirlavatar Always nice to hear from you, and thanks for the Torchwood news. I go through phases where I don’t post much, but I check in regularly – usually when I should be working, like right now for instance.
Cheers

@gamergirlavatar (Good that) the Doctor is blind because this can be developed over the course of the season and won’t be played like a fun adventure we’ll never return to. I can’t wait to see how The Doctor and the other characters adapted to this.
Interesting to see what he does with a condition that he can not talk his way out of. It’s…[Read more]

(Puro). Stop trying to blind me with science! *huge grin*
Gin and tonic, my favourite tipple, well, that and Champagne – or what passes as same. You? Hide behind the sofa? Never!
@pedant: The ‘blue object’ mentioned by me, is in the flippin’ trailer. How can it be a spoiler? Or do you mean that I shouldn’t mention it anyway? Sounds a bit…[Read more]

She looks really promising in the trailers. April is so far away. Can I stand it?

@miapatrick: Completely crazy, whihc made it all the more fun.
@winston: Nardole is a dark horse – or rather WAs a dark horse. He seems dopey, but there’s a lot of common sense there.
@gamergirlavatar: I agree with you, and can’t wait for the drought to break. Happy New year to you both.

What pedant said.
I did wonder about Colin Morgan (Merlin) perhaps too young?

Brian Blessed doesn’t do anything quietly – he is rather well known for that.
Also, it wasn’t serious.

@gamergirlavatar I’ve just seen your comment on the Doctor being darker, so sorry I’m not sure how to work this forum yet haha but YES! Absolutely spot on, he brings a darkness with him, very very different from anything I’ve seen before, it makes you feel like there’s going to be something sinister coming, but it doesn’t happen! So…[Read more]

Thanks for the kind words, @purofilion and @gamergirlavatar !
You know what hooked me on Chris Eccleston’s Doctor? “Everybody lives, Rose! Just this once — everybody lives!” I still get chills remembering his unbridled joy and exuberance. In fact, I think I must revisit “The Doctor Dances” again!

I think that is a really lovely and insightful reflection on Clara. I agree entirely, and I wish I had expressed it that way myself.

@gamergirlavatar That’s when I learned that Eccleston was a great Doctor and I wish he didn’t need to leave so soon.
Yes, I thought he had a refreshing and welcome grittiness about him and great potential in general — probably one reason I never took to Tennant. I’d wanted more of Eccleston, and felt cheated out of that and so resentf…[Read more]

Losing “your” Doctor can be traumatic. I think I was sort of lucky as I am old enough to have watched the Pertwee Doctor turn into Tom Baker, but young enough to not have an emotional attachment to Pertwee – I was more scared of the spiders.
So I was almost preprogrammed to accept regeneration. It was just a thing the…[Read more]
