That’s my main charge against Steven Moffat. He leaves too many meaningless cluess (don’t tell me he doesn’t, he does). You are 100% right. I haven’t noticed it on my cell phone. I thought the picture is visible only in the first shot and the circles are just darken. But I watched it on my computer and it’s so obvious. The circles definitely have a texture.

I think Moffat wanted people to spot them. The painting hangs in the background and thin circles as they are in the oryginal could be missed.
