Where did Nabile get the pen & paper to write Danger and Warning? He must have already been uploaded by that point. This makes a nonsense of the plot & therefor the show. As a result I won’t watch Dr Who ever again. Listen out for my podcast on The Rings of Akhaten next week…

Probably too hasty about Guardian. 1st day back is always a trollfest. They succeed in their purpose – my blood is boiled. Give me wi-fi death any day! Here is definately better though. How I bask in it’s relative shelter! Divided loyalties was an unforseen consequence.

Here you don’t have to read: ‘In the next week trailer, the girl hits the stone which wobbles. This mistake has ruined my up til now flawless view of the show. As a result I shall never watch it again (but will comment).’

Moffat’s 3 stories of 2012 are each up for a Hugo award (Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form). I personally hope that The Snowmen wins one.

Back to the Bells: Anyone else wondering where the Dr got that portrait of Clara from? Also the leaf, camels, any more puzzle objects to come? The Dr is the guardian to the repository of his history. 4-D!

Anyone else wondering whether or not to return to the Gruniad? It’s never been more apparent as being mostly the place to vent personal Who-bigotry (i.e. – David Tennant is a god but RTD should have been killed at birth/old Dr Who is just bad costumes & bad actors whilst new Dr Who is just Buffy meets Douglas Adams at his worst).

There’s only so much of the same shite you can read. I’ve only had the internet for a year but I rather think I’ve reached that point.

Compare with the cerebral delights of this very site!

50th Anniversary begins filming on Monday unless it’s an April Fools joke – expect those! The perfect time to film old Drs but I doubt it will happen now… I think we might be in for Forrest Gump instead, complete with one of the Drs other wives: Marilyn Monroe…

    I lost my mojo….. It’s alright, I got it back…

Less than 3 days to go.

Returning to the Gruniad for a stint will be weird though…

Yeah – I should have said Monastic ‘destiny’ or similar. McCoy abandoned the idea after  he discovered ‘girls fronts’, whilst Tom Baker was fed up of looking down at peoples’ shoes all day every day!

Destiny of the Daleks is the 1st Who I remember properly watching & loving it (aged 4&11 months). Watched every episode since on broadcast without fail until NOW (except xmas once or twice)! Also I remember the Ogri (vs K9) & Kroll but not much else from season 16.

One abiding memory is of watching Dimensions in Time (aged 19) & moaning that the Drs should have worn wigs!

I gave up on Who early in the wilderness years after reading one of the New Adventures with it’s sex & swearing. Not prudish, just thought it was a cheap trick poorly realised…

Another is the semi-revulsion of watching the TV Movie (but still hoping it would go to a series).

Yet another was breathing a sigh of relief after watching Rose…

With the ever increasing prospect of the old Drs not physically reprising their roles for the Nov ep/s, someone mentioned somewhere that they’d better bloody well be in the next Children in Need sketch. That’ll be in Nov 2014 though…

Moffat has said the 50th anniversary ep will not be a fan-fest but that the past Drs will be ‘honoured’.

Also we have ‘paintings’ so perhaps that’s how the past Drs will be honoured –  perhaps a ‘Dorian Gray’ inspired plot?

I’m surprised no one is ranting about the JNT/Gary Downie ‘exclusives’ in the news yesterday & how the tabloids handled it. The Mirror had Colin Baker on the cover with DR WHO SEX SCANDAL emblazoned on it (& in tiny print – colin baker who is not involved). Scores of folk on their web article declared their hope that Colin will sue…(bloody right).

Also today’s Radio Times ep guide gives us the Gaiman ep title *(Nightmare in Silver)* and reveals stuff about the Vigil & the Whispermen (mostly which is which & when). Go & buy a copy if you can…

That monster in ‘The Rings of Akhaten’ that looks a bit Sycoraxy is very ‘Pyramids of Mars’y (also it’s trapped in a pyramid & demands a sacrifice) – could it be related to Sutekh or even the God himself?

Those other ‘monsters’ in the episode remind me of something & I can’t think what. At 1st I thought it was the Seers from Underworld but perhaps it’s just the Rocketeer?

7 days til the Radio Times series guide (hopefully).

Favourite TV shows include Dick Turpin, Robin of Sherwood, Lavender Castle, Survivors, Moonlighting, The Wind in the Willows, The Maxx, The Prisoner, Gormenghast, Chronicles of Narnia, Max Headroom, Space 1999, Randall & Hopkirk (deceased) (new), Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Life & Loves of a She-Devil, Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, Catweazle, Worzel Gummidge, Children of the Stones, Chimera, Into the Labyrinth, Spiderman (live action & original cartoon), Farscape, The Witches and the Grinnygog and many more.

I thought the 1st series of Black Mirror was better – eps  2 & 3 my favourites (loved the trailer for 2nd series though).

Currently trying to follow In the Flesh just now…

What a Who-y weekend. Comic Relief (poor sketch – pass me the memory worm), new trailers (BBC America version too, also the TARDIS in that BBC ‘where next’ ad), Matt on J Ross & Chris Evans & yesterday Warwick Davis on Titchmarsh (tight lipped) & the Dr Who site revealed a lot! Who else supposes that The Whispermen are those chaps in top hats, whilst The Vigil is that vile thing in the woods?

Lots of complaints about the new 6.10pm time slot but do we really want Who up against the Cowell channel’s prime slot show? Saturday Night Takeaway (& whatever replaces it) = pretty poor but probably popular. Remember when the enemy was Corrie & what that did to help our favourite show?

Back to that Comic Relief sketch – I reject it as canon – mostly coz it was bad (Funny as I do consider the NTA skit as canon – mostly coz it was good – Dot Cotton is real!). If you caught the Sunday edit though it was better as the awful rumpy-pumpy jokes were removed.

12 days to go! Getting excited now!

This episode means so much to me on a personal level. I’ve lost a couple of very close friends to the monster & I know plenty more still living with it.

This is on a par with (if not better than) Curtis’ last ep of Blackadder Goes Forth. Powerful, moving stuff.

The Dr is eventually wise enough to know that you often can’t defeat this enemy but you can make a small difference. You can add to the pile of good things.

Hidden ’50 year discrepencies’, nods to the past always with something new, lesbian jokes (remember Oswin’s 1st crush?), The Shard revealed as something else (or secret base beneath), Cyber-rats/cats/kids, Clara explained…

’50 year gap’ anomalies do seem to suggest the Dr will ‘start at the start again’ like he (sort of) did at the end of ‘The Five Drs’.

Watched the ‘Legacy’ boxset yesterday. Tom Baker features on a couple of documentaries. It’s uncanny how he hasn’t really aged in the last 30 years. Only the whiteness of his hair (it’s Who curly style again) & the rotundness of his belly have really changed. I’d say he’s aged the best of the old Dr’s. Next I’d say is McCoy who looks fit & well these days. Davison has changed so much because he was so young of course. Colin looks like a different person altogether (of course looks aren’t everything). Should have stuck to that carrot juice…

As long as there’s no (distasteful) floating disembodied heads whizzing about, I’m open to all (re)interpretations – if they work.

One potential get out clause is what we learn in Time Crash: If multiple Drs meet, it shorts out the Time Differential, causing the ‘older’ Drs to be ….. older.

    wolfweed @replies

Perhaps Ace should return as a Time Lady. She was due to return in SJA of course.

Romana 2 too. And Jamie (& Victoria & Zoe). Perhaps Tegan should meet William Wallace so that they can do that Braveheart joke…

    Wilf?

    Benton & Yates?

Tom Baker’s talking Cabbage? (Sorry – that’s not canon).

K-9 was on Stargazing tonight. He’ll also be on tomorrow & Thursday after 9pm on BBC 2.

I’d like to see K-9 mk 1 meet K-9 mk 2. I bet they would bicker like an old married couple…

(K-9 mk ‘4’ is obviously too busy keeping Luke Smith company when not saving the Earth with Sarah Jane & the gang).

Found this fantastic theory on youtube:

    travellerinthedark

*Is the character of Clara a representation of Doctor Who? (born 23rd November, loved by children and adults and mourned by both when she died at the age of 26, resurrected in the 21st century etc.)

    Find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eu5xtc-x3k

If you count Dr Who failing to get a series after the TV Movie ‘pilot’ then ‘Dr Who’ has died twice.
(Of course if Clara dies every week in 7B then this theory is rubbered).

The Grand Moff is writing the 50th special now! He is excited and daunted – he doesn’t want to let us down.

He does realise that it’s impossible to please everyone.

    I’m sure it’ll be good…

I was watching 30 years of CITV the other day & noticed that Hugo Myatt (who played Treguard in Knightmare) reminded me very much of Anthony Ainley’s Master. Perhaps he could portray a homage to that sort of version of the Master (rather than portray that actual regeneration)?

Also, what are people’s opinions of other people portraying deceased Drs? From the Serpent Crest finale, I can certainly see David Troughton playing his father (he looks like him too, more than his brother). Someone else mentioned Sean Pertwee playing his father – not sure about this but wouldn’t rule it out. I’d have liked Geoffrey Bayldon to have played the 1st Dr [an original candidate for the role] (perhaps he’s too old now?) but have heard mention of David Warner. On ‘More than 30 years in the TARDIS’, Hartnell’s grandaughter, Jessica Cairney is dressed as the 1st Dr. Should we keep it all in the family? Or is it all a step too far?

Perhaps if old Dr’s return some should wear wigs (apart from Paul McGann)! I always thought that about ‘Dimensions in Time’! I suppose now they’d also have to CGI some bellies away too! And as for (the lovely) Colin Baker…

On ‘Death in Blackpool’ – Thought it was suitably funny that Lucie was more shocked by Pat’s love of James Blunt than by the revelation of her true identity!

I think there’s a 10th Dr novel where he (or a companion) likes Mika (because RTD did?!?)

For me Blunt & Mika are scarier than any Dr Who monster…

Link to Shada webcast included on the new ‘Legacy’ box set (which I heartily recommend).

I’m voting for Big Ron, ’cause he was in Destiny of the Daleks.
