Hey! Sorry, what’s an “Emily Post ?”
Yeah, here, we do tag people because Syzygy might confuse people or they may not really want to read that again. Short story: mum and I share the tag. Mum’s sick a bit, so sometimes I type for myself, others I type for her. I’m doing that now. And when I DO type for mum, I always let people know…[Read more]

Hi there @bluesqueakpip. @mudlark @serahni and all you great men and women! @whisht @blenkinsopthebrave @arbutus @nerys. This idea sounds like it’s about theology only, but I think it’s about changing perceptions -or not changing them?
Due to the ‘serious’ nature of the post below I thought I’d should share this from a Reuters article which co…[Read more]

@arbutus He was a monumental performer wasn’t he? Indelibly attracted to his audience & effortlessly so.
@whisht sorry for posting thrice but I love Ringo’s beautiful tambourine. The master that’s often forgotten has a spectacular bit of solo tambourine following a 2nd middle 8 on repeat.
@pedant yonks ago I was writing about music notation…[Read more]

That’s such a great clip @Arbutus.
Lucky they knew the guy on the soundboard who – just for their set – flicked up all the stadium speakers’ volumes!;¬)

@whisht Thank you for that link & the lovely “trust in me; sssleep ssafe & ssound” with its gorgeous sibilants. And unfortunately I don’t know Darrow very well at all. So I’ll try to educate myself.
Also @arbutus where be you?
The Britten choon is quirky, Whisht, but the breathing is quite ‘exact’ & whilst the impression created is they’re all…[Read more]

@Arbutus Happy New Year to you too. Wholeheartedly second that emotion (and glad to hear things are good with you and yours)

@arbutus Forget hockey, complaining about the weather is the Canadian national sport. Right now in Ontario it is freezing rain to be followed tomorrow by warmer temps and just plain rain. No snow for Christmas this year but come January………..Brrrrr.
Another thing we bond over is food and Ukrainian food is sooo good but a lot of work. I m…[Read more]

I recall discussing this exact point with you too -last year, actually! I sensed a change but I do feel there are new posters with inclinations toward writing, editing and bonkerising with aplomb 🙂
I also thought, independently of you (clearly timey whimey), about chickenelly, thomck (sp) tardisblue? But others have…[Read more]

I think @margaret-blaine above had some excellent points.
One of the things I found useful when joining was reading as many posts as possible -to get a sense of the site, its posters, academic or not, those who are published writers or not, involved with music as a career, or with experience in acting and script-writing. Over…[Read more]

@arbutus Just to clarify, I don’t think every finale should feature the end of the Earth. But as Chibnall brought that into the equation I think it could have been done a lot better.
He could have left Earth out of it completely and done something a bit different and I would have been happy if it had been a bit more exciting.
Do it well or don’t…[Read more]

@arbutus @thane16 But to me, the baddie was the solitract: luring people with promises of “forever.” Or not even the solitract, but the refusal to accept reality, let go of the past, and let the dead rest.
Oh, yes; it is our clinging to the past that can never be authentically re-created again for us in the present, that is what’s being declin…[Read more]

I did! Thank you for your wishes. It was so great! It was an hour and not like the $300 for 8 to 11 minutes which is pretty expensive for the time. This was $67 (I found the receipt because Mum has to get better at hiding things) and the hour also involved walking around the copter and learning what all the different pieces of…[Read more]

Thank you v3ry much! I liked the 2nd one the best. You can see them all having fun. I have no clue to understanding this music as I mainly like punk, rock 80s rock and then the people from the 50s but this is very interesting music. My head is nodding 🙂 Yeah, it’s nodding! And my foot too!
Happy dreams dude.

aww @Arbutus – I’m gonna listen to the Herbie Hancock in my morning (they’re great great tunes and I’ve not heard the live versions).
But they’ll make me want to get up and for me as I type its nighttime.
So – here is a(nother) song for It Takes You Away.
@Bluesqueakpip has explained better than I how much of a fairytale this episode is (and for…[Read more] -

@arbutus I’d like to think that the Doctor’s offer was more of a “take me instead”, spur of the moment attempt to save Erik, and that she only realized afterward that she wouldn’t be able to stay.
I like that better, too. What I missed, though, was some — sense of connection between Doctor and the Solitract — it’s a being from an old Gallif…[Read more]

Producing a good talking frog was the responsibility of the special effects people, not the writer or the producer.
If I’d been directing, I suspect I would have been shooting an additional scene with Grace as the Solitract’s embodiment, in case the frog didn’t work out. I think the idea of the frog is OK, but it didn’t quite w…[Read more]
