Haven’t worked out what I think yet about Rupert/Danny/Orson etc (and what about the Blue chappie from Into the Dalek? Does he/how does he fit in?).
I think it would be beyond awesome and funny if that was put in for no other reason that to yank @Juniperfish‘s chain.

@CathAnnabel – oooh, good point!! clara even calls him “last of the timelords” (which i thought of as odd, at the time) when they’re chained up! perhaps he’s still the “lonely god,” as he hasn’t gone to help save gallifrey yet, in his own timeline?

Wow. Was slack-jawed while reading Mr Fonsini’s diatribe, and – considering I should be working – was steeling myself for having to write back and correct some incredibly warped and paranoid ramblings – so thanks to @cathannabel and @bluesqueakpip for dealing with it so much better than I ever could.

Nice shout out on the “don’t breathe/don’t not breathe”
And @Wolfweed and @Chickenelly‘s “eyes” motif
Lots to watch out for, including the resurrection of @Juniperfish‘s red/blue strands (thanks @Phaseshift)… or maybe it’s Reservoir Doctors! (And seconding that wish that we see the finny one back here, fit and heartily bonkering,…[Read more]

@cathannabel Oh my, what links those location ‘coincidences’ suggest! I could certainly see vague lines of something that weaves a connection between the virtual reality of Forest of the Dead, the parallel time stream stories of Girl in the Fireplace and Girl Who Waited, and the closing scene from Deep Breath. Now this is what I call a long game!

@fivefaces – no problem, we’re all independently coming to (some) of the same conclusions around here, and it’s impossible to keep up with who was first to spot what! I’m @cathannabel here I think (so many identities – hard to keep track!).
Over on Reddit they’ve identified the specific location that was used in The Girl Who Waited and other…[Read more]

@Phaseshift Thanks very much for the get well wishes x I really need them.
I love your clarion call to twelve weeks of excitement 🙂
And you too @Purofilion – thank you.
@Cathannabel Ooh the Bleak House reference is GREAT – and is it a clue? In that novel, a woman finds a daughter she thought was dead… I’m still sold on Clara as the Doctor…[Read more]

@CathAnnabel Wow. I would never, ever have remembered that line from Dickens. Take that to those who feel that the dinosaur was contrived!
@Juniperfish I thought of the library as well, possibly because of the parallel “life after death” themes. (Hope you are recovered from your trip to the ER!)
@purofilion I didn’t need to hear from El…[Read more]

but the impaling of Cyborg man on the church spire I took to be a reference to Troughton’s demise in The Omen.
Surely a reference from your Granny?! But a brilliant reference all the same.

Well, I’m a little bit late to the party – its been a tough few months, and I have only just watched ToTD (twice now!).
I’ve very much enjoyed catching up on this thread and reading everybody’s thoughts. The first viewing I was so sad seeing the Dr ageing, alone, and I really did not want to see the end of Matt smith’s Doctor. On second v…[Read more]

@PurpleCup. Sorry. Must have confused you with the cat in Caption Competition #51. No idea why. My bad. And @CathAnnabel. I should learn that when I write treatise-length posts the short window of time to edit disappears before I find and correct most of my typos.

@JimtheFish and @ScaryB I will certainly grant you that Conan Doyle is not Dickens 🙂
As you say, fish friend, the original Sherlock and Watson are Victorian gentlemen and Sherlock’s clients are generally upper or middle class.
However, Sherlock’s investigations do take him to parts of London other than the West End. For example, he visits an o…[Read more]

Haha – been there exactly with Hollyoaks, for the same reason! @cathannabel Re: Eric Ritchie Jr.
Some years ago, I had tickets for, but ultimately missed, a West-End production of “A Christmas Carol”. The actor playing Ebeneezer Scrooge was Eric Richard. Coincidence???
I loved your blog post, btw.

I was particularly happy that the stereotypical “markers” for “female” in animation, such as boobs or long-eyelashes were totally absent from EVE. She was a scary mo-fo 🙂 The musical score was marvellous too.

WALL-E is absolutely my favourite Pixar film. It’s astonishing, which is why I thought I’d mention it was on yesterday On the Sofa. A great silent movie in the beginning and such an unusual tale to come published by a big corporation like Disney. Its view of humanity is pretty broad (but all the more engaging for it) satire.
It…[Read more]
