@dentarthurdent I probably shouldn’t have said the Doctor didn’t babble at all in this episode. But it felt greatly minimized to me, compared to other episodes. And, let’s face it, it’s not like previous incarnations of the Doctor didn’t babble. But I always felt like there was a flow to it, a stream that I could follow. Oftentimes, Whittaker’s…[Read more]

Im a big fan of Capaldi and, yes, we would certainly be poorer for not having him in Who. But Moff + Whittaker would have served up some treats I think.

There are a lot of reactionary folk on The G (more now than ever it seems), and the “Moff can’t write…” comments were rarely backed up by anything logical, so my assumption was…[Read more]

@janetteb  Yes, all the episodes. I actually don’t mind Kill the Moon or Love  and Monsters. In fact I like the Who fans who meet to discuss the Doctor but soon become friends and even more. They all had a cruel ending. I don’t enjoy the episodes where the Doctor “dies” and regenerates ,  too sad for me. The cruelty of the cybermen also creeps me…[Read more]

Rose is a good shout. Billie’s reappearance still seems to mystify the internet ‘World of Gammon.’ So, what’s it all about, eh?

I think Micky the bin is a good place to start. RTD has a sense of humour, something that continues with Cassandra desiccating, Slitheen flatus issues, and Adam need a hole in the head, like a……[Read more]

@dentarthurdent I read the book a few years ago and really enjoyed Moffat’s writing style but It is more of a companion to the episode which was almost perfect. (Only imperfection that springs to mind is Liz 1’s very modern hair style)

@ps1l0v3y0u I read a lot of the early novelisations when I was a teen back in the dark days before video. The…[Read more]

I shall have to rewatch Day of The Doctor. No great hardship.

Highlights… 10 in Elizabethan England, The Moment, Jenna Coleman settling into the role… and Bill’s mum running for cover (same actress)! If only they’d persuaded Timothy Dalton and Lee Evans to return.  Actually, not a problem: it’s practically perfect.…[Read more]

Forget dates. I just wonder why some random date is sometimes quoted by the writer. Yes, Village was broadcast on that date but Chibnall didn’t have to be so precise. Is it a nod to the discerning fan?

Of more importance is The Master’s timeline. 3 and Delgado, unless it was 5 and Ainley, may have talked about remain…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u I can barely keep track of plot lines, much less timelines, so I’m a poor choice for any kind of meaningful exchange on your date theories. But bravo to you for taking that on! I could not do it.

@dentarthurdent I’m much the same as you … and getting worse by the day. I never considered your point about the inherent logical flaw in…[Read more]

Village of The Angels: The Afterthought.

Do you remember my date theories? Significant dates of eps. Dates mentioned in eps. For November 21st (Village of the Angels) there are two other eps.

    1. Dalek Invasion Earth: Could this have been a flux event? If so then that’s definitely a retcon. That is plans start with A…[Read more]

I love the names “chucklegramps and kid” so apt. I might watch this episode after reading your review and if it is half as entertaining it will be worth it.

@dentarthurdent I absolutely agree with you. I thought the Weeping Angels episode was finally building toward something substantive and exciting, and then … “Whoomp! (There It Is)” … or isn’t. What a letdown. I don’t know what happened. My theory (without any proof) is that there were too many cooks in the kitchen. So how Moffat & Co. were…[Read more]

the beta text or whatever it is means I pasted my spiel and then edited it, did something it didn’t like and then navigated away. Strangely, it sounds like Whovian space-time coordinates. I wonder if that where they first originated?

Was this, purely hypothetical, acceleration enforced by Covid or by The Corp (because Chib was being politely shown the door, wasn’t he); or designed, because the previous two series were such dogs; or simply symptoms of narrative insanity?

All I can observe is something changed. And then Chib and Whitdoc were both gone.

  • @dentarthurdent

I mentioned Diane but it was Claire being tragically meaningful of course.

There was an attempt to speed up story development. Is that the reduced number of eps or Chib trying out some Blink/Big Bang Moff style timey wimey? Or just a slimmed down Fam?

‘Macho’… even pre Chib Nuwho had Timelord Invictus, Good Man C*cks It Up Good and Proper, Epic Sulks, Confession Dials and Other Idiocies.

I’ve no quarrel with the ‘tone’ of RTD2, more the execution, which again may be down to the story. But will we ever know? Will a big break demolish the precious continuity?…[Read more]

Who *was* one of the least macho sci-fi’s, once. The last few eps, the Doc has been getting increasingly macho, shooting things with his enhanced sonic gun – I mean screwdriver, posing with macho orchestral music blaring – kind of the opposite of what RTD said.

The ending… it did seem like a bolt on. To the extent that, though there was supposedly a ‘reason’ to regenerate I just know, if I check it out, I’ll think it was nonsense.

It’s a pity because the rest of the series built up quite a head of steam, even if the ratings were in the basement. The worst regeneration story sin…[Read more]

as if the ending had been grafted on when it became known that Ncuti was going to leave the show. I could be wrong about that, of course.
