I’ve only just watched Oxygen, and pretty much loved it. It’s strange to say, perhaps, but can anyone think of an episode of Doctor Who in recent times being this ‘hard sci-fi’ in approach?
I think there are an astonishing number of references to other works (including Who history) in this but, unlike Smile a few weeks ago, I thought it produce…[Read more]

@thane15 @Frobisher @Whisht et al, loving the more, shall we say, tangential Bowie refs! I had the lyrics of Space Oddity bouncing around in my head whilst watching Oxygen – floating round the tin can, and then ‘Helmets on’ which is actually in the script although whether that qualifies as a quote being so brief and functional I don’t know.

@frobisher – I think we have the same (poor?) taste in jokes 😉
So, according to those who know here, it seems time is running out on bonkers vault theories so here’s one to throw into the ring.
There has been much mention of ‘hair’ on the aftershow.
Maybe its more than just a throwaway joke though. And no, I’m not going to suggest that its the…[Read more]

It can only be…RICK WAKEMAN!
LOL… but there aren’t nearly enough notes squeezed into those two little piano pieces, for it to be The Cape, himself!
some great theories about the vault since the last time i checked in. i’m still thinking, tho:
1) the master. (why is the more important question, instead of really?) perhaps the m…[Read more]

@kharis So, enjoy my latest craziest “person in the vault playing Fur Elise” theory and please come up theories even more insane then this one.
Trying, really trying, but — love it just the way you put it! Ah, there we are — Alan Moore!
@arbutus . . . villains who aren’t really villains. I confess it’s a theme that resonates with me.

@wolfweed Always read the small print! Did nobody scrutinise that contract? I’d love to see the actual wording.
I was surprised that the Doctor didn’t have a look at that contract!
@frobisher . . . the twist was unexpected. There is definitely a theme of release going on, imo.
Loved Suchet — and yes, liberation . . . will that be this Doc…[Read more]

I’m in Australia and the above is on tonight. I thought every country was seeing it at the same time – the 26th.
Thanks anyway.

My default assumption with Time Lords is that if it’s a different actor, they’ve regenerated. 🙂
Incidentally, I did love the Doctor’s description of Time Lord death as ‘man flu’. Is this a tacit admission that he tends to milk his own regenerations for all they’re worth, lying in bed and getting people to bring him cups of…[Read more]

There are bonkers theories and then there are bonkers theories that take it to the next level of bonkerism.
Of course, I think it is all highly unlikely. But it is one hell of a bonkers theory.

Quite. Our times zones are two dimensional – essentially segments on a sphere.
The Doctor can see fixed points; it’s “how he sees the World” (Fire of Pompeii, iirc). I think there are more than the standard four dimensions in his …er… World view.

In my “pants” post (@frobisher yes, it is a funny reference), I should have typed Episode 6 (not 5) here:
Dark jacket with red lining, dark hoodie sweater, dark pointelle/openwork knit sweater, dark pants with plaid pattern – Episode 6, “The Woman Who Lived” (dark plaid pants are definitely in his closing scene with Clara, the only one in which…

@puroandson Thanks, I was picking up on an idea posted by others (@bendubz11, @frobisher, @bobbyfat, @starla, etc.), so it’s hardly an original thought. I just decided to go through each episode and see what of the Doctor’s wardrobe I could see. But whoa, I should have given my post more of a read before hitting the “submit” button. Several typos…[Read more]

@frobisher Now we’re talking! Trouser analysis!
Oh, that theory is rather pants. (Did I use it correctly?)
@arbutus The character of the Doctor was beautifully defined throughout the episode… The scene where he saw Rigsy’s daughter and seemingly fell in love: “Did you make this human?… She’s brilliant.” Rigsy’s instant understanding that…[Read more]
