Ugh… I am sure she will be wonderful. I don’t know her but my Doctor is a man. I am heartbroken . I already struggle every time they give us a new Doctor but this will be the most difficult for me. Not sure I even want to watch. 😢

HI sorry I moved and am now playing catch up. So I really enjoyed this episode except why now do we understand Latin? When before we did not. Does the doctor turn on and off his translater?  I also wandered why he could  not just close the temporal rift but then there would be survivors of the ninth. What happens when all those that went through the rift die, do the eaters of light come back? Loved that Nardo was in pajamas and robe. Cute pop corn screen but obvious. All in all enjoying this season.

Loved it! Best episode yet! The suits, corporation, taxes, racism,  scarey for all of us. Zombie fun.  Bill calling out to mum. This couldn’t have been done any better.

Ok I watched it a second time and I will revise my opinion a bit.  The problem for me is I keep waiting for alien that is mean and evil. These wood lice were neither, helping her to live.  But I have to say I enjoyed it more the second time around. I did love David Suchet. His creepy popping up and disappearing was wonderful.  The doctor being annoyed at Bill for calling him granddad was just perfect. Love that Bill was the one to figure out that the landlord was the son and not the father. Still love the ending the best.  Hum… We are both stuck here. What does that mean? Playing Pop the weasel when whoever is in the vault found out the kids were eaten…. Perfect.

Before I read everyone’s comments I would like to post my opinion.  Except for the last few moments of this episode I was so disappointed. 6 twenty somethings go into a “haunted house” a bunch of bugs make them part of the house. Really? The Doctor never questioned how they got in the garden, or what happened to them once the house was destroyed.  Bill who I now adore was dress like a 12 year old boy from the 60’s.

To all those saying companion, works or doesn’t work… Wouldn’t colleague or associate work? Although I like the word companion, I don’t think it works when introducing Capt. Jack.

@bluesqueakpip yes you are right.  I guess if you can change from man to woman or woman to man, clothing and accessories wouldn’t matter.  On the hat issue, I love hats cowboy, fez or top!  And as for program watching like meals most families don’t do this together anymore.  In fact I know very few tweens and teens that watch tv at all at least boys don’t.  They are on Xbox, ps 4 or you tube.  I am actually liking that this is the Doctor and Bill show at least in the beginning.  No real protagonist.  I get the feeling that they are setting us ( the Doctor and Bill) for a major one. Can’t wait!

@wolfweed not to disagree but Missy said the doctor gave it to her when she had her daughter and she showed a cameo pin.  I find it hard to believe that someone would give a man a cameo pin.  But in the scheme of things anything is possible.

@wolfweed thanks for that looked it up on you tube.  So was Missy a female before she was the master? Why would the Doctor give a man, the master a cameo pin? Oh space and time befuddles me. Yet as far as we know the doctor has always been a male.  Since River was with both men and women could one of her woman loves been the doctor as a female?  My head now spins.

Hi all, I don’t write or even speak as well as the rest but I loved this episode. Loving PC more now than ever. Telling Bill not to lose her temper than punching  the lord was great. The reference to black Jesus was perfect. Someone on here said Bill might be a descendent  holds up if you see the coming attractions. Ok getting ready to watch again, I will now pay more attention to the detail rather than the story.

It has never dawned on me to want a companion from the USA even though that’s were I am from.  When they say his companions are whinny I wanted to yell… Let’s see how you’d handle being in those situations. As far as his playing the guitar, if I lived as long as him I think I would learn lots of instruments.

Not sure if anyone posted this before but could Bill be a relative of Jenny? Can’t imagine that Jenny is floating around out there and never tried to find dad. Maybe hearing he is on earth follows him there and falls in love. Ok I am a dreamer and its probably out in left field.

In reading a couple of the post here about PC, I would really like to comment. He is not my favorite Doctor as I have stated earlier but it may be that I want to be entertained when watching DW. I found the previous episodes with Clara brooding. Terrible that I want my soul lifted by a fictional character? Maybe …  In the Pilot I finally found him delightful. Now after Smile, I know I will miss him. I am now looking at him differently.  We all have up and down years. And after watching the you tube interview, it’s good to know that PC is a fan and not a student, just like me.

Wow all I have to say is I am loving this season so much. Bill is a wonderful companion.  Her views are great.  The fact that she is questions why the seats arent closer to the console,  wondering why he likes the blue box,eating blue jelly and taking pictures with her phone. Perfect, just perfect.

I am so enjoying Bill. Watching episode 2 for the second time. Her views on things are wonderful. “Do you have stretchy arms like Mr. Fantastic?  You never thought to bring the seats closer,” that was great!  Why hasn’t he thought of that. What, what, what is his oath? This is going to be a great season.

Went to Michelle Gomez( Missy) IMDb it says she shows up in season 10 episode 6 Extremis. No further info. I think the Doctor is keeping her in the vault.  Spoiler?

I love that an off the cuff comment about the Tardis name has brought up so many questions, I also rewatch the Pilot again and this time I noticed that when the doctor says to Bill I noticed you, he was looking straight at Susan. Please let me know what you guys think.  Again thanks for being so welcoming. Although I watched Dr Who for many years none of my friends are interested so no one to discuss the show with. Love Sci fi , fantasy, fiction. Big fan of Anne McCaffrey, Marissa Meyer,Isaac Asimov but you guys are way beyond me.

I think I have watched all episodes of Dr. Who shown  in America.  Has there ever been an episode where they show more of the Tardis? Sleeping quarters, kitchen  so on…?

@mudlark my understanding is that he cannot return to an exact time he has already been. Paradox right? But clearly the memorial shows Danny and Clara’s names. Bill said the Doctor has been there 50 years and Bill dresses like early 90’s . Can’t be earlier because of the smart phones. I am just trying to figure out if it’s 2017 and Bill just likes that look.  Am I making too much out of nothing?

It’s funny sometimes I will see an episode and think it’s ho hum. I will then  watch the same espisode 2 or 3 years down the road and think it was marvelous. Not sure if it’s cause I missed information the first time or not.  Didn’t Martha Jones have a sister? Could this be her niece?  Ok maybe not just guessing here.

not sure I am doing this correctly. Hopefully you will see my post. I do agree one of the best of  his(Peters) episodes was the husbands of River Song.   It made me smile. Bad writing? Yeah I guess that could be part of the issue but I guess I am a face person and I recieved very few expressions from him. Does that make sense? I miss every person that has played Dr who since I started watching in 1978.  I will miss him too.  May this season be great!

Hi, new user here from USA. Just finished watching the pilot and loved it. But to be honest this is the first time I have liked Peter as the Doctor. I always felt he tried to hard. It always seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else, playing a different part.  Maybe this will finally be the season that he comes across the best because he is leaving.  I think Bill is great, I get the Donna vibe from her.  Totally amazed at everything and afraid of nothing, but not as bossy.
