@phaseshift Well Clara has always been a kind of ‘fixer’ and she always cares how situations
shake out. She did talk the 11th into finding a different choice about whether to push the big
red button or try to save Galifrey. She is a sort of psychoanalyst at times too so yes,
she can certainly be the outsider conscience. The Galifreyans may have a lot of respect for her
since the time she convinced them to save the Doctor. Maybe the Timelords would want to keep her
around to tap into her special gifts cause if she can slap the Doctor when he makes dumb choices
then maybe she can do the same for the rest of them?To everyone that already got to see the first 2 episodes —- NO HINTS!!! really ??? no hints???
🙁 🙁 🙁27 August 2015 at 03:31 #42071Cult box says the chalice shown in the new posted photo is the same as the 1 used by the
8th Doctor in his prequel which may be a coincidence but… also, in the other released
photo of the prequel everyone is carrying shovels. What are they going to dig up? Could it
be that chalice? How would it get from that place to the Sisters of Karn? Another
terrific little puzzle to season 9! 🙂26 August 2015 at 01:18 #4204426 August 2015 at 01:17 #42043This is a picture from the prequel film showing in the theatres – this is 1 of two but this one
interested me because of the big wolf like shield on the caped guys chest. Made me think of
the wolf of Fenric. Hoping the prequel shows up on YT or someplace like that particularly for
those folks that cant get to see it in a theatre before season 9 starts.24 August 2015 at 04:13 #42024@JametteB @purofilion Aren’t the new Doctor Who Legos coming out soon??
They should make excellent cake decorations!
and @janetteb Dog + marzipan bone = lol!24 August 2015 at 03:02 #42018Some neat ideas for a Doctor Who themed anniversary cake – Congradts!
24 August 2015 at 02:15 #42015@blenkinsopthebrave Like your idea a lot too ! 🙂
24 August 2015 at 02:04 #42013@purofilion If the last 2 episodes take place on an alien planet possibly even
Galifrey (which I think that might be the case) then I have to wonder if she goes
off something like in the way Romana left the 4th Doctor. That is to be with other
aliens and to be a guide. Having been with the Doctor so long I am speculating that
she has knowledge and skills that would be useful.23 August 2015 at 00:20 #41996http://www.denofgeek.us/tv/doctor-who/242720/doctor-who-season-9-news-new-images
nice synopsis of all spoilers so far
22 August 2015 at 20:08 #41989@ichabod Perhaps you can be persuaded to a new default setting other than “impatience’
It reminds me of the evangelists that are so ‘impatient’ for the rapture nonsense that
they deny global warming! I personally feel that impatience induces a panic and even
some bitterness. It robs you! I know its hard trying to readjust to thoughts of well,
‘it might not happen the way I want but it might turn out that its just as good or better’.
Because your right that impatience makes you live in the future instead of the present and
then you might miss out on some good stuff. We all know people we care about that have this
impatience thing. ( Well I used to tell my S.O. to go find a quiet corner and punch a pillow
for a while and after the crazy look he felt calmer 😉 )21 August 2015 at 03:11 #41958@ania I pretty much agree with all you said but I just think its a bit odd that
Missy created thru her manipulations the impossible girl and therefore very
probably some of those claricles that saved the Doctors from some Masters. So that makes
me think Missy created some unforeseen obstacles for her past selves. She/he has often
not thought thru various situations and still doesn’t . Its just another odd perspective
from me. 🙂21 August 2015 at 01:33 #41956@purofilion I didn’t know Clara drank the tonic 😉 – makes sense- Missy probably
sneaked it to her
I don’t know if Missy realized that Clara would turn into the impossible girl and
be in so many time lines? I wonder if that might have been an unforeseen obstacle
for Missy in some way. She did put that advertisement in the paper in DB for an
impossible girl if I am recalling right and not having a messy mind moment.
I wonder how much of a surprise the whole impossible girl thing may have been to Missy?I want the sonic shades! I want to see what the Doctor sees!
21 August 2015 at 00:25 #4195220 August 2015 at 23:18 #41951#Ichabod My Nana-in-law lived to 105. We visited her in her home
when she was still in her eighties and she was really very spunky!
I caught her hanging out the upstairs windows wiping them down
and she rode a bike and was just a very active women.
I’d see her drinking every single morning apple cider vinegar with
honey and never missed a day. It looked really weird to me. So I asked her why.
She said it was for her inflamed joints. She felt it helped her with that.
It supposed to be good for lots of things. Nana was a believer and that
makes me 1 too. 105! I will probably taking her ‘tonic’ in due time. 🙂18 August 2015 at 05:16 #41888I should say that I was trying specifically to post to the spoilers.
Over here in the comments I didn’t have that problem and
just though I should make a little mention cause its a bit weird. Thanks18 August 2015 at 05:10 #41887@craig and or other mods – I cant seem to post / paste to the forum tonight
I’m wondering if its me or are you doing something? Btw – I never have had
anything from the spoiler thread for series 9 show up in my mail which
seems really odd but hasn’t bothered me. Maybe it will fix itself 😉
(I always hope that happens with laptop stuff)17 August 2015 at 05:15 #41872@arbutus I’ve seen pizza stones for ovens and bbq. My husband does mostly all the bbq.
I don’t know how this all came to pass but he has staked out certain cooking territory.
He also makes good eggplant humus which he has loved ever since he first ate it in a
restaurant and then there is his special grilled cheese. Of course far be it for me to mess
with him over any of his particular specialties 🙂 That would be silly!17 August 2015 at 04:23 #41871@mudlark On 1 of my trips to England I visited Anglesey Abbey with some friends
from the midlands area and Sara bought up some sacks of the stone ground flour from the gift
shop for her Mum and Auntie. Apparently they make the flour from a mill on the property.
That was btw some amazing garden! My favorite bit was the birch trees area under
planted with cyclamen. Visiting great gardens is a passion of mine.@purofilion Grilled onions on anything is always a good thing. There is a place
here in Sactown where I can go to get a authentic NY style neapolitan, marguerita pizza.
Its called Masullo’s. The owner/chef is a transplant from the Bronx and takes his pizza very
seriously. He imports a lot of his ingredients including the flour. I get over there now and then
but not too often. I get the grilled chicken pizza oven ready from Whole Foods mkt. Yes, they
are overpriced – but but but…. 🙂 (I also think they make a darn good new england clam
chowder which is nice on cold wet days.) However I don’t get over there all too often either.
We have such abundant choices for good food where I am. The area has this very pervasive
attitude of the ‘foodie interested peoples’.16 August 2015 at 00:42 #41853BTW – I think the old style pizza ovens added something to a great pizza too.
But nowadays in California I eat California style pizzas. The grilled
chicken, onions and cheese is a total yum!
just saying…16 August 2015 at 00:34 #41852@arbutus @mudlark and everyone!
http://www.kingarthurflour.com/flours/
Thought I’d share this for the bakers – my friend Maria is a really great baker!
She says this is 1 of the best flours to bake with cause of its gluten profile, non gmo plus milled
properly. Apparently its preferred by many professionals too. She comes from a family that owned
a Italian bakery in a Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn NY! She said that 3 reasons why NY
pizza is so good is 1- the water and 2- they used this King Arthur flour and 3- real cheese and
other toppings. Although you have to be choosy about where you go for authentic NY pizza there
these days. Anyone can get this flour online and although I have thought about doing that I’m not
really much of a baker myself.15 August 2015 at 21:16 #41848Tonight on BBC America the episode of Blink is on. The director of Blink Hettie MacDonald
is also the director of the first two episodes of season 9. This article popped up today
’10 thing you might not know about Blink’http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2015/08/doctor-who-10-things-you-may-not-know-about-blink/

This is my favorite breakfast/brunch restaurant in Sacramento -The menu changes according to
available ingredients and its completely farm to table and organic. They have wonderful
chefs. All the breads and pastries are baked in house and are outstanding. Love love the
delicious food. They even make the grilled cheese on Challah! Totally not traditional
but its so delicious plus you only get real maple syrup to go with breakfast grass fed
beef for hamburgers etc. If anyone is ever in Sacramento I will take you to breakfast here!
This restaurant also has a facebook page which I follow because it tells you the menu changes
and show you the dishes.
When I was a kid there were local bakers called Friehofers. They delivered baked goods to all the
local groceries and many restaurants in the Hudson river valley and into Conn. Everything was
always incredibly well done and I have to admit that I really ‘appreciated’ those tender but crispy
and very chocolate-y chip cookies. Its no secret in my family about how I loved those! 😉
Last time I was there I tried looking for them. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any sign of them 🙁14 August 2015 at 16:43 #41826I want to share with everyone these yt videos I have been watching. There is ‘colorful’
language but quite honestly I like colors. 😉 These are informative and entertaining!
Basically they are a historical account or BG Who. This is the first 1 I saw and I have
watched several more since and plan to get to the rest.14 August 2015 at 03:56 #4180314 August 2015 at 03:42 #41802@Purofilion I’ve tried many confections in my years including cakes and pies
and crumbles, tarts even marzipan and tbh I cant totally live with out most of
this. But I still soemtimes have weakness for chocolate treats, vegie breads and fruit crisps.
I’ve learned to make good brownies, crisps and sometimes I like to make a vegie bread
and I might add a chocolate swirl in it. I know that there is a common notion that
Americans love everything sweet but me not so much. I could be wrong but I think it
might have a lot to do with the diet Americans grow up on. There’s tons of hidden
sugars in all the processed foods particularly the breads and cereals. I think folks
are beginning to get a grip on this and that’s a good thing.12 August 2015 at 19:32 #41767@indigomoose Someone recently theorized (apologies cant recall who) that the Tardis
may also be psychically connected with all the Doctors which could be
how they all knew to arrive at the same place and time to save Galifrey.
If this is so then it would be very interesting to see the Doctor having
more ‘conversations’ with the Tardis either thru a psychic means or some
different mechanism because if the Tardis is keeping blueprint of everything
in its ‘mind’ that could be very useful.12 August 2015 at 18:52 #41764@jimthefish I know where we will be at that time – watching the only thing that
matters!! over and over 🙂 a welcome diversion and then back to real life12 August 2015 at 18:06 #41761New trailer being released today according to message that posted from
Doctor Who site just now!!12 August 2015 at 17:31 #41760@indigomoose @jimthefish @blenkinsopthebrave I like the Romana
concept and have even entertained this idea for a moment before we knew who Missy was
but I still cant reconcile this idea because Missy likes to kill people for fun
and entertainment purposes. That’s not how I see Romana. But as we all know
the personalities do change somewhat with the new regenerations.
I suppose that Romana could be using a chameleon arch to become Missy too? Also, still
wondering if Missy regenerated or if she is a download? Need new episodes now!!! 🙂11 August 2015 at 15:35 #41740@whisht Tea! and in a pub!? Well we are a very different sort of pub here aren’t we?
I believe there could also be a menu in this pub which offers jammy dogers, custard with fish
fingers jelly babies and I would like to suggest Tardis brownies! (1 of my personal favorites)
all gooey, dense and yummy and they are shaped like the Tardis and covered in Tardis
blue frosting and when you bite into 1 they are always bigger on the inside but they can never
make you bigger on the outside 😉@Janette We have this tiny little pond with 2 pretty fish in it and we named both of them
Fester and Fang! 🙂 Never missed an episode of the Addams Family when I was a kid in the
‘last century’ (ugh!)10 August 2015 at 04:16 #41700@purofilion There are so many kinds of green tea that you really need to google to get
a good idea but I like the Japanese Sencha. They all come from different varieties
of the Camellia bush. They all have health benefits that come from polyphenols and flavonoids
and all that. One reason I prefer the green tea is because the typical western tea consumed
is a black tea. It has to do with the processing. The black teas are basically put through
more and harsher processing so tend to be far more acidic inside your guts which is to say that
green teas are milder and gentler and wont cause irritation or digestive issues and they taste
really nice.Personally I will not eat or drink anything Soy. Its pretty much all GMO (or roundup ready)
plus it has something called photoestrogen and some other pretty toxic stuff too. In Asia
they consume it mostly either as soy sauce which is basically for flavoring or tofu and miso
which are fermented things which still aren’t really health foods in spite of the big hype.We used to take the kid when she was little to the apple hills in the fall and they had the
apple picking and the pumpkin patch and the corn maze and the hay ride and the petting zoo 🙂
Now I just go the local organic farmers markets and buy it by the gallon.10 August 2015 at 02:05 #41696@purofilion @bluesqueakpip @rose2112
I always liked Costa for coffee on the high street — when I’m next over in England
I will definitely be popping into one of those.
I have really gotten into Japanese green tea with a little raw honey and cinnamon or
lemon and its very yum! I use my coffee maker to brew it too. I’m not sure if that’s
considered ‘inappropriate’ brewing but there it is. It seems that besides coffee
it’s all I ever drink anymore. Although hard cider season is upon us soon and
my area is know for that (not just about wine) and I’ve always been a big fan of
anything apple! Where did the year go that its almost apple picking time??9 August 2015 at 05:09 #41681@FarManInABox I also saw a rumor about the 8th Doctor possibly returning???
I think it would be so cool to have some new interpretation
about how the Doctor chooses his appearance. Remember the
4th Doctor said in the under gallery that he revisited some of
old favorite faces. Oh and please please bring back Doctor Tom
again too!!!!!
BTW – On the subject of TonDoc there is that theory about the under
gallery being the inside of the curator Doctors Tardis and that the
door is located behind the painting of “Galifrey falls no more”.
I’ve re-watched that part over more than a few times. I hope we
get to see more of that location with TomDoc!9 August 2015 at 01:32 #41669@blenkinsopthebrave I can only say to you in response – Ah yes the inhibitors aka
republicans that can only win elections if they disenfranchise those that would vote
against them. Even though in voting for them they vote against their own interests.
Hm? I also recently saw a comment being made about the Catholic church being more
progressive than the GOP!
Oh and BTW – Sorry for posting this to you on the wrong thread!!8 August 2015 at 23:05 #41659@craig — aka Goerge Bailey So very sorry but I seem to have had a small @ issue
in my previous post to you 🙁 – I’m just so goofy sometimes 🙂8 August 2015 at 22:59 #41658@George Bailey Thanks for the flick snippet! John Carpenter is responsible for some
amazing cult classics! Mark Gatiss did a documentary series called “History of Horror”
for the BBC and included Carpenter in it. I like that ‘symmetry’– the interconnectedness
of all my favorite sci-fi talents!8 August 2015 at 03:35 #41636RIP Rowdy Roddy Piper who wore those iconic sunglasses in the cult classic “They Live”
This was a very interesting article. The author is tying together the fact that within this great
movie there was a metaphor about politics and life (just like in any great science fiction)
with the current social-political atmosphere that presently exists in the states. I felt it was a
very well written piece and if you like mixing politics with your sci-fi then this might be for you.7 August 2015 at 05:26 #41607@tardisstowaway Go to the spoilers for season 9 page. My idea is that it might be Ace.
I based it on a few small bits of stuff but mostly the fact that there maybe Vikings
in this episode she is part of and Ace was a wolf of Fenric who was in the Viking Mythology.
She was a seventh Doctor companion. That’s my guess however I gotta say my guessing track
record is a sorry thing 🙁5 August 2015 at 05:42 #41547hope this post works this time- this should be the 1 about the Tardis
telling the Doctors to meet up to save Gaifrey — fingers crossed!5 August 2015 at 04:58 #41545Not sure if that YT video went thru in previous post- getting a blocked certificate
message on the page so I will try again another time – sorry folks5 August 2015 at 04:56 #41544Was it the Tardis that took all the Doctors to where they needed to be thru a psychic
connection? I like this idea!1 August 2015 at 05:02 #41500@gamergirlavatar I think the different locations that Amy found and moved thru in the
GWW episode were all within that ‘clinic’. I imagine that this clinic could be something like
hollow decks (star trek as an example) or even very much like the Matrix world (like in DB)
These 2 episodes have some possible links that seem intriguing. I don’t see Amy returning but
I believe we will see other past characters coming back into the story.31 July 2015 at 05:53 #41492@Janette In both situations the dead are being looked after !
( ok time for a break now 😉 )31 July 2015 at 05:36 #41491@Janette I also recall that in GWW Amy has to choose which of her selves to delete.
In DB Danny has to choose whether to delete his emotions. Your right that SM often
re uses many concepts over and over including places that don’t physically exist etc.
and so on.
I will be trying to remember linkages for days now 🙂@Purofilion Very Happy (belated) Birthday Missy Puro 🙂
30 July 2015 at 23:44 #41489BTW – The giant magnifying glass that allowed communication between the 2 time streams
in GWW between the sick in the red waterfall area and the green in the normal time stream
area reminds me of Clara being able to talk to Danny after his death when he was inside
the Matrix thru a special ‘potal’. I think this is just brilliant continuity in tying
these 2 episodes together!9
30 July 2015 at 23:10 #41488Hi – Michele Gomez hinted this week that there is a connection between using
the same location in both ‘Deep Breath’ and ‘The Girl Who Waited’. This that got my brain
ripping again. So how does the ‘2 Streams’ facility in GWW relate to the ‘3W’ facility in DB?
The 2 Streams facility was sort of a clinic that administered a medicine which was
to cure a plague that afflicted aliens including Galifryans. It also has as a part of
this story this notion of disconnected time streams and I wonder if this is in a way
similar to the time pocket situation of Galifrey ? So the site being referenced was supposed
to be on an infected planet called Apalapucia. I think the planet was a conglomeration made
up of various bits appropriated from other planets and turned into a version of part spa
and part clinic together in one. It had teleporters and inter-active interfaces [Seb?}
I recall several people mentioning the fact that this might not be a coincidence and now
we know and I’m trying to analyze this. Any ideas folks? 2 streams as spa and clinic and 3W
as???27 July 2015 at 21:52 #41469@ichabod and everyone
http://www.portlandmonthlymag.com/articles/2015/7/20/profile-ursula-k-le-guin
A very nice recent piece about Ursula Le Guin
I didn’t know that she was classmates in high school with Phillip K Dick
[Something in the school drinking fountain?]26 July 2015 at 05:15 #41447@Purofilion Jane Eyre isn’t the governess type I was thinking of.
Actually more like an aggressive disciplinary type with serious issues
because in real life the governess didn’t marry the Mr. Rochester’s.
It was not like that or like Mary Poppins. It came with a lot of
hardship. However I think there is something to the idea of straddling
across having some independence and being subject to your superiors as
governesses were always forced to do.
So then which superiors is Missy subject to and who is pulling her strings?26 July 2015 at 01:54 #41442@ichabod @Purofilion BTW – I think someone mentioned a long while back on some post
about the correlation between the character in Prachett’s novel Hogfather. She was
a goth Mary Poppins sort very similar to Missy. That story must have been an influence.
But the thing about being a governess in Victorian or Edwardian England is that they
straddled the threshold between servant and marginally better standing in the community.
It was one of very few solutions to be an independent woman in a patriarchal society
but there was the isolation of never being totally accepted into any particular class
so that had to have a lot of pressure on emotional health. Which brings me to the
Missy costume. I think there is a correlation in the choice of presenting her in that
outfit. Pressure of acceptance, poor emotional health and sense of self. Also, sometimes
these governesses were also mistresses.25 July 2015 at 22:42 #41434@ichabod @Purofilion So yes, I think Missy is self selecting this
new female role. In fact did you notice the small detail of the stud bracelet she
wore? To me that speaks to a touch of the bdsm type of “mistress” and she does
like imposing discomfort and pain. In fact she feeds on the traumatic and abusive!
She gets an adrenaline and endorphin rush. (Apparently Galifreyans get that too 😉 )
But it seems to be the new approach for her in the dysfunctional relationship issues
between herself and the Doctor. Maybe its her idea of personal growth? lol – no idea.
She was never particularly successful in any of her domination efforts as the Master so
perhaps in her psychotic logic she finds some new confidence and feels less vulnerable
as a Missy? -
