@mccottonthedoctorfan Aww, this was my 1st season of watching the show and I just thought Pearl and her Bill character was just fabulous

@mccottonthedoctorfan I have not listened to any of the sixth doctor Big Finish stories but you have really sparked my interest. I really like the sound of an older, history professor as companion.
    cheers

I haven’t heard many audios, so I don’t know who she is.

Black boots. Before Peter Capaldi’s footwear was positively identified as Loakes brogue boots, a lot of people thought he was wearing Doc Martens boots – so the precise make isn’t important, I’d say. Just look for suitable black boots in your size.

  • @mccottonthedoctorfan     I am just learning about the world of cosplay and it looks like a lot fun but hard work also. You need the patches ,in my opinion they help complete the coat. The belt at the back and the pocket flaps would be good  if possible. They used to sell iron on patches at sewing supply stores and maybe still do. The patche…[Read more]

Your name is too long. 🙂

Otherwise, I took it as ‘I won’t change again, I want to stay as I am or die.’

I think he’s burnt out with the effort it takes to get rolling again in a new form. I think also, Bill being turned into a Cyberman, and Missy dissappointing him was all a bit much to an already fatally injured…[Read more]

I agree. And I think the Christmas episode will be like “It’s a Wonderful Life”, as he comes to realise why he has to live (albeit in a different body).

    @mccottonthedoctorfan.

I want Mr Huffle, from Doctor Mysterio.

Like you I have liked all four Doctors of the new series, but Peter Capaldi is the best of the lot.

Of the Classic series, William Hartnell,  Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were the best – in my opinion of course.

Either of the first two would work with the coloured scarf but you’re right that the third would need the reddish scarf to be accurate.

I would also recommend this site for some excellent cosplay stuff (it’s apparently very good at screen-accurate reproductions and has a big Who-in-everything-but-name section but it is…[Read more]

@mccottonthedoctorfan  There are no Big Finish Productions featuring the Twelfth Doctor yet — so far, the only new series Doctors to have been featured are the War Doctor and the Tenth Doctor.

There are also some audio plays in which secondary characters from the new series are the central characters; perhaps look into the UNIT audios a…[Read more]

  • @ob-wan @mccottonthedoctorfan For me, I don’t think it’s about the status they have, it’s the function they have in the narrative. Generally, the companion(s) are the ones who learn from The Doctor, but who also act as a means of us finding out more about him. In effect he/she are a proxy for the audience. I’m not sure River, specifically, has…[Read more]

    Hello there, to your question?

No, I wouldn’t rate either as a companion.

The Brigadier had UNIT to run and River spent most of her days in prison.

My understanding of a companion, is one who travels with the Doctor all the time, every episode,

    until they leave him.

    Cheers

    That’s kind of what I meant when I said…

“Perhaps it’s like people who have a Doctorate who get insulted if you call them “Mr.”  Maybe she was saying that she was much more than JUST a companion.”

But my point was that I don’t think that eliminates her from ALSO being a companion.

  • @mccottonthedoctorfan Obviously this question wasn’t directed at me, but I thought I’d jump in anyway. I believe someone asked about River being his companion at a Q&A and Alex Kingston jumped in and declared her character was a wife not a companion. I’d agree with that to be honest. It chimes with what Moffat says about their interplay being…[Read more]

ME is the one possibility I could live without, so I agree.
It isn’t the actresses fault, but I simply can’t warm to her.

All my hopes were pinned on Osgood, but now they have been dashed – or have they?

@McCottonTheDoctorFan   @sirclockface     I have listened to a fair amount of Big Finish (not anything like comprehensively, I would have had to sell my car for that!). From what I have heard, I would say that most of it is good fun, and some of it is excellent. They have done lots of Dalek stories and lots of Eighth Doctor. I’m not sure where…[Read more]

It’s worth noting that, prior to the reboot, the BBC – insofar as it expressed an opinion – considered the audio adventures canon.

@mccottonthedoctorfan Thank you for the review!

I think I might buy the doom coalition box set featuring Paul Mgann. How long was each episode roughly?
