• Still too much “You say your line, I’ll say mine” in the talky bits – which is down to the directors and editors –  but otherwise a bold, clever, thoughtful episode which, as @juniperfish says is wholly appropriate for today, of all days.

Also much foaming Gammon and frothing Angry Virgins on Twitter (and much piss-taking of the same). It’s…[Read more]

Thanks mate. One thing that happened was missing my “so, you’re a diabetic now” course, since I had no viable way to get there. So now I get that and my deep-retina scan all in one week.

I’ve watch a fair few dashcam vids – it is surprising how limited people’s vocabulary becomes when…[Read more]

Stiff in places I didn’t know could go stiff! On the plus side, the lad’s insurers have accepted liability so the admin side of stuff should be less tiresome that it could be.

Went to the doc earlier just be let her check me out. She’s satisfied there is nothing that is not to be expected, but did note that she has had patients come…[Read more]

Yes as you have clearly realised, The Cry – obviously partially inspired by Lindy Chamberlain but also informed I think by the case of Maddie McCann, but very much its own story. And, as I say, Coleman was excellent and props to whoever put a Tardis in the background!

I very much enjoyed The City and The City as well.

  • @ichabod @idiotsavon @mudlark

Well the other driver’s airbag deployed and probably saved his live – he really didn’t know what day it was for a good few minutes. I can’t see how he was doing less that 40mph when he hit me (the stretch of road is 60mph limit, and my dashcam has a sound like him skidding under breaking). Had he hit me more…[Read more]

  • @blenkinsopthebrave – many thanks. To be fair, most of my constituent parts probably need a service anyway!

  • @idiotsavon I suspect I’m going to be aching all over for while, and a nasty bruise on my arm where the seatbelt dug in. Paramedics where happy to let me go.

The lad who hit me can be very grateful for BMW’s safety engineering.

Incidental by-product, I discovered that my blood glucose has fallen to sensible levels. So yay for that.

  • You know that thing where you are going about your lawful business, signal in good time and when stopping to take a right and…

…BMW hits you from behind at full speed.

    That.

  • @azzitay

There was no plot hole. It was clearly shown what happens to spiders that get too big.

  • @azzitay

Dr.Who FAN … obviously Mr. Chibnall isnt.

Oh you were going so well(1) and then you demonstrated who very little you know.

  • So I’ve just caught up with The Cry, a new BBC drama in which Jenna Coleman is outstanding. This shot in an early episode suggests a director with a keen visual sense of humour, in what is otherwise a very dark tale (what’s that in the background?)…

Go to the search box and enter “bow tie”.

    Thank me later.

  • @troygorsline

Pfft. This is the home of bonkers theorising.

    Get with the bonkers programme!

(Although, come to think of it, @juniperfish, you do need to reverse engineer Eccleston into the colour changing universe….)

  • @jimthefish

There’s a Python gag for every occasion.

    No apostrophe in the credits.

So it’s a machine that goes PTing?

  • So Pting has proved spectacularly popular on Twitter. Watch out for the cuddly energy-sucking toy coming to a Christmas stocking near you.  (I was thing more a sort of Colorado Beetle in space, @juniperfish).

Not for the first time an otherwise perfectly decent yarn, with solid performances throughout has been let down by editing and direction t…[Read more]

  • In the first episode a microwave went ping.

    Now we have the pting.

That has been making me chuckle for the past hour.

And today in “Name That Logical Fallacy” we bring you:

Teleological arguments explain the universe is ordered so well there is no other option but to believe in a hidden Designer.

    A curiosity:

According to Kant (I think, and Hume) Order is only there because our minds are pre-determined to ‘see’ such Order.

    Probably close to neu…[Read more]

Yes, for all her bubbly persona, she is significantly more cautious and considered that her three forebears.

Are you by any chance composing in something else (Word, say) and then copying and pasting? That often brings a lot of bad formatting with it. The best way around it is to click the “Text” tab in the Reply box, which will show you any garbage that has cropped up.
