the Land of Fiction
This was mentioned during in the last season’s comments (somewhere…maybe even by me), so it might have some legs. I wonder if RTD will go back to the well of old Who for a second season on the run.
Mrs Flood was obviously the Doctor’s original Nanny
That would be a really in…[Read more]

It’s all hearsay atm, and there may be more innocent explanations. As you point out, the Tardis is often rebooted when there is a new Doctor. If this is the case, then the next casting is going to be very interesting.
I’m pretty neutral on another regen, as I am not sold on Gatwa as the Doc. Dunno why, just some actors…[Read more]

“History Doesn’t Repeat Itself, but It Often Rhymes”
Samuel Langhorne ClemensYou are right in that we are no where near Twin Dilemma levels of storytelling. Or that we have a showrunner actively trying to kill the show. The way contemporary televisin works, I don’t think those levels of Who will be plumbed again. H…[Read more]

Nice linking of Romana there. I know there’s a lot of talk re Mrs Flood, but I’m hoping she’s a new character (or Omega!), rather than an old favourite. And, as @blenkinsopthebrave alluded to, she really needs a bit more agency – the 4th wall breaking monologue is looking somewhat old now.
I didn’t have an issue…[Read more]

Eiffel Tower? I thought it was Blackpool Tower 🙂
I think the schwup is something to do with the reason that they can’t get back to Earth on 24th May – incidentally that’s the air date of the penultimate episode (“penultimate” from the old Latin meaning “the ep we all get excited…[Read more]

@blenkinsopthebrave Thanks for this. It does look exciting and even a little scary and I can’t wait. I agree with @janetteb that the cgi looks great and the episodes look action packed but I also like some coziness. As @ps1l0v3y0u says it does look flashy. Bring on the flash.
I am so lucky because this will be one of the first times I will be…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u Oh yeah, I’d forgotten about seeing into someone else’s living room (the fellow on his couch). So these would be terraced houses, correct? I forgot about that detail and was confused as to why, during their escape, they could see into other people’s houses. Because they’re connected, duh!

@ps1l0v3y0u You’re right about the sonic screwdriver at Donna’s house. I had forgotten about that. It did, what? Create a kind of force field, blocking off the Wrarth Warriors but allowing the Doctor, Donna’s family and the Meep to escape?
Like you, I didn’t find the episode amazing. Many of RTD’s stories ran on timey-wimey machinations rather…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u They could be in the same room at the same time because Weyoun was one of at least 8 clones. This explains so much!
Being Canadian I am already worried and disturbed but if the orange one and his minions were evil aliens it would make sense. Evil aliens always want to steal our resources.

@janetteb @ps1l0v3y0u Entrance of the Gladiators seems like rather appropriate background music these days. Yes, I am avoiding the news … not completely, but as much as I can. I’m doing a lot of novel reading and watching, if not cheery material, then at least that which I find more believable than what real life is dishing out. So those Doctor…[Read more]

I’m fine with bats as long as they’re not in the house, and I imagine Androzani is rabies-free. I wonder if Sixie would be understanding about my balloon phobia though, since I am quite open about it. He’d probably find my views rather repulsive though since they’re rather American. I’m rather centrist. I’d accept his views and…[Read more]

A pity… You should check it out on the Archive. Even has AI upscaled episodes. Very good series, especially if you like urban fantasy.
I also wonder what the other classic Doctors would have done to Adam. Like, would One have imprisoned him in the TARDIS or marooned him like the Monk? Which Classic Doctor would be the most lenient,…

@ps1l0v3y0u I wonder if Xanatos would recognize Two’s deviousness, and if Demona would stand a chance against him.
Also, would Two have marooned Adam, or would he have been nicer?

The very same. I imagined this scenario where the Gargoyles wake up to the Second Doctor jumping back, catching a fright, and muttering “Oh my… Giddy AUNT! I thought you were weeping angels!” Then he leans on the rail and lets out a big exhale of relief. Jamie asks what the weeping angels are, and The Doctor gives him a short answer…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u I think Trump has a very simplistic view of the world. He sees every transaction as a zero-sum game – for one party to win, the other has to lose. (The concept of ‘win-win’ is beyond him, if he ever heard of it he probably dismissed it as woke nonsense). I think this explains why he is so gratuitously obnoxious – the more he…[Read more]

Re:Moffat “supposedly his last outing…”
Really? I know IMDB can be unreliable, but Moffat is listed as the writer of the first episode of the 2025 season. And, as we know, Moffat is a master of playing the long game with his stories.

@ps1l0v3y0u, @dentarthurdent, @winston

On the question of fantasy, a lot of excellent points have been made above. Given that the conversation began with reference to the visual representation of fantasy in Who I would offer two examples of how fantasy can really work on the screen;
