@ps1l0v3y0u I don’t know about this chord being contained in ‘The Inner Light”, “Blue Jay Way” (covered by this band on their reunion tour) or “Within and Without You”, I’m sorry that no one on here can tell me the song or songs I’m thinking of which contained “The Devil’s Chord”, so now I’ll have to reveal them.

The main song I’m thinking of i…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u @janetteb Sadly, Canada has its own “Defund the CBC” initiative, led by those who, quite predictably, feel their own political causes are not sufficiently championed. But, given how reliant Canada has become on American broadcasters, the CBC is really the only broadcaster in Canada promoting Canadian culture (especially music). If we…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u In Oz the public broadcaster, (ABC) is purely government funded which I guess is a mixed blessing. Not dependant upon a drying up license fee but instead are subject to government whims and the malice of one side of politics who dislike anyone who dares criticise them and equate truth to bias. (it is universal sadly)

    Back in the day…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u I don’t know anything about “the Devil in Music” or George Harrison using this chord. However, it was used in a cover version of a Beatles song and possibly in one or two other songs. This guitarist likes using more obscure chords.

I’m not wishing my life away waiting for the Doctor Who Christmas Special 2026! I think the BBC has…[Read more]

do you have a source or is it rude to ask?

I don’t unfortunately. Just observations. I’ve been wrong on the finale pretty much every time, so the law of averages suggest I’d get something correct eventually.

Apparently, there was a source on Reddit who was leaking information about the last series. So uncannily…[Read more]

@whohar @ps1l0v3y0u Based on what information was released, the hasty rewrite to the finale of Ncuti Gatwa’s second season was due to Gatwa’s decision not to return for a third season. But all the last-minute changes had to be stressful for RTD. So I wonder about how enthused RTD is to return. (Mind you, I’ve only read about this situation. I fear…[Read more]

My response was a bit Carry On

    Carry on Cyber

Carry on up the Tardis etc.

13>14 WAS more loaded than 12>13.

100% agree. Strange really. Probably due to the return of Saints David and Russell.

I suppose you have to say Chib and… what would you call it… gender avoidance (?) was a reasoned response to a particular narrative problem.

Maybe. Noting that Chibnall also told Jodie Whittaker not to watch any previous Who, maybe he was trying to do a soft reboot type-of-thing.

RTD wouldn’t have turned that chance of a laugh.

Tradition on Who is for the new showrunner to write the regeneration scene.

Apparently, it was RTD’s choice.  He made a comment that he didn’t want to have a man in women’s clothes as he didn’t want to offend (IIRC) people in the trans community.

@ps1l0v3y0u re the corset, women did wear corsets in the Regency period but not the tight lacing variety that most people think of when they think corsets. In fact tight lacing only became a thing after the introduction of metal grommets in the mid 19th century. Before that a corset was basically the female undergarment/support. It was the bra of…[Read more]

@ps1l0v3y0u I suppose I was prepared for some level of disappointment, having to wait so long to see these episodes (because, as I have mentioned before, I refuse to subscribe to Disney+ for one program). @whohar @ps1l0v3y0u Thanks, and yes, I agree. In many ways, Chibnall’s tenure was a disappointment. But I always have it in the back of my mind that the blame may not land squarely on him, because I don’t know what was going on behind the scenes. Still, in most cases, the writing just did not come together for me, and since he did most of it, it…[Read more]

    Yes, twas I.

Even before I’d heard this rumour, my view was that Chibnall had really wasted an opportunity to do storylines that reflected the change of sex/gender. There’s so much potential t…[Read more]

@translatorcircuit @ps1l0v3y0u Many thanks to both of you, who have better memories than mine. I really couldn’t remember a single reference … but then again, I’ve forgotten significant chunks of the 13th Doctor’s storyline because so much of it was unmemorable. And I don’t feel inclined to go back and watch it again.

@ps1l0v3y0u that is an interesting theory and digs deep into the vault of Who canon. Image of the Fendahl is another episode I should rewatch. those were really golden years for Old Who.

@ps1l0v3y0u Hmmm, it’s been a while since I’ve watched “Forest of the Dead” (it and “Silence in the Library” are among my favorite Doctor Who episodes). And then the mystery was revealed as…[Read more]

I think the reason Chibz gets a ‘free pass’ from other showrunners is just politeness or ‘professional courtesy’.   You don’t badmouth your fellow workers even if you think they’re crap.
