Given that all the old faces will be there to see number 12 off, here’s bonkerising that the scene will go like this:

I must have blinked and missed those blinking wolves!

Chibbers has always wanted Dr Who to be more adult. He must be careful how he handles that for the younger viewers though… (Even implied rape of the Doctor sounds rather disturbing…)

From Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (By Chris Chibnall)

SOLOMON: My bounty increases. And what an extraordinary bounty you are.
    NEFERTITI: Never touch me.
SOLOMON: I like my possessions to have spirit. It means I can have fun breaking them. And I will break you in with immense pleasure.

A strange episode this. Vasor demonstrates that a hand rub is not always entirely innocent.

It’s a world full of wolves (At least 250) but we never see one.

Ian rubs Altos’ thighs and shows that such an action is not always sensual foreplay.

There is a Benny Hill style runaround as Vasor attempts to rape Barbara…

There are Ice Warriors (But they’re called soldiers)…

Trying to direct the Gap-Crossing live in the studio was an epic fail. Instead of seeing Susan jump as the makeshift bridge collapses, we get a reaction shot. Barbara seems to have seen something else entirely…

Ian is responsible for two killings.

Moral: Bad men should die by the Twizzle-Sword…

This episode is like The Crystal Maze or The Adventure Game. A time-limited series of puzzles with traps…

The ‘slowly’ destructive nature is a bit reminiscent of  The Shepherd Boy from Heaven sent.

Evil vines remind me of  ‘Creeping Vine’ from ‘Dr Terror’s House of Horrors’ (1965)

Edmund Warwick (Darrius) would return to the show to pretend to be the 1st Dr a couple of times…

This is a Fake News story! It’s a tale of Utopia (But a a fake Utopia).

Never eat cherries & narcotic powder. It may be drugged! Then you might have a walnut whip placed on your forehead! (It may luckily fall off) The crew all wake up with ice-cream headaches a la ‘Last Christmas’ or ‘Extremis’. Indeed this is a Fake Paradise but it’s not a dream, it’s a Mesmorant Hallucination.

Nobody really believes Barbara, they just assume that’s she’s deluded. Swayed by truffles & trinkets!

If that’s not orange juice they’re drinking, I wonder what it is? (Brain urine?!)

Hartnell is hilarious, holding up an enamel mug and declaring that he can fix the TARDIS with it.

    brain

Weirdly, Babs kills the Morphotons by not breaking their jars (Should’ve given Jacqueline Hill  a sledgehammer).

I really like this episode (despite the technical complexity perhaps stilting the delivery?). The cleverly executed delusional fantasy & the creepy brains with eyeballs (see also Dr Mysterio) really make it. I just wonder if it’s meant to be a metaphor for something specific and if so, what?

@missrori  All that Moffat has hinted about Xmas is that there will be something rational about being vile and awful and evil. And that it is actually a good strategy. I think that any interpretation of ‘a dark episode’ or ’12 turned bad’ is pure speculation/misinterpretation (Click-baity or not)…….

The Doctor has a colour telly but it’s ‘Hors de combat’ (LOL)… (I wonder what he would make of his episodes being colourised?)

One-Man-Submarines with special-suited-soldiers featured in Bob Holmes’ ‘Nightmare Man’ (Itself an adaptation of ‘Child of Vodyanoi’ by David Wiltshire)…

    cov

Probably the greatest Billy-Fluff of them all (‘And if you had your shoes on, my boy, you could have lent her hers’)…

Lovely that the companions laugh at the fluff (This is what ‘As Live’ TV is all about!)…

Finding the flipper-prints is very ‘Robinson Crusoe’…

That Voord design is quite cool. The one that’s about to attack Susan is most definitely ‘Hidden in plain sight’. It’s a bit ‘Alien’ I suppose (That moment where it comes out of hiding from inside the wall)…

Teleport bracelets would later be used in Terry Nation’s other big success, ‘Blake’s 7’.  AG, it would become a Time Agent thang of course. ‘Cheap and nasty time-travel’, if you ask me!

    Oh no! Babs!!!

    @jimthefish (Et All)

Well I made it to Cardiff at the weekend. On Saturday I went to Cardiff Market, a location from Torchwood: ‘Small Worlds’. It’s a really cool building. (When I got back home I rewatched the scene. I noticed that there’s a continuity error – The brolly shop is open then closed in a split-second!)

Sunday was ‘Doctor Who Day’. Starting off at the Water Tower (& Torchwood lift – correct stone) and into The Millenium Centre (‘Boom Town’ & Torchwood  [& Interiors for lots of modern Who of course]).

Then a trip to The Doctor Who Experience.

Who’d have thought it but @ 10am Rachel Talalay gave me a lovely long smile as I passed her near the Norwegian Church, on the way there! (Presumably, either I look like a Who Fan or my jaw dropped or both…) I would have given her gushing compliments but she had headphones on (presumably not Cyber), so I thought it best not to disturb her… She had on a cool top with an image of her Cyberman on the back. I presume the editing of the Xmas ep continues…….

The Experience itself will be shut in 3 weeks time, so it was good to get there! (It seemed to be pretty popular too!)

There is an exhibition next to the shop displaying the Target Book covers. My new favourite having seen it in the flesh is ‘The Ark in Space’. It’s a great show and it’s free to enter.

The Experience bit must remain top secret. Let’s just say that I was ‘moved by Romana’…

Then it was on to the exhibits. It’s amazing how close you can get to all of the props & costumes. On the whole, it’s only small gadgets that are kept behind glass. The rest are there to be scrutinised and studied…

Happily there is plenty from series 10 represented, including the impressive Vault doors which flank Missy’s costume.

Seeing so many iconic bits & bobs can be quite overwhelming for a Doctor Who fan! I took some photos (As you do).

    dwe

Afterwards a snoop at Roath Lock (Just the outside!). Then on to Ianto’s Shrine (Torchwood) finishing with Eddie’s Diner (‘The Impossible Astronaut’ & ‘Hell Bent’) for a burger & ‘shake! (‘Have you met Jim The Fish yet?’)

I also managed to purchase lots of Dr Who goodies, which I’ve yet to enjoy…

I really liked Cardiff (And the fantastic weather helped)…….

All in all, the perfect holiday to Doctor Who’s ‘Mecca’! (An early Birthday/Xmas present)

@jimthefish – Thanks! I’ve not been to a Doctor Who exhibition since the Kelvingrove in 2009.

Before that, was MOMI on London’s South Bank (26th century Earth!) and a small one at Bristol Museum in the 90s. Longleat in the 80s.
