The box set is a must to a true Whovian – if one can afford it. I save money every week for my ‘DVD’fund.
Loads of extras and of course, The Husbands of River Song.
Hope you get the set soon.
Cheers,
Missy
20 April 2016 at 06:43 #5174020 April 2016 at 06:41 #51739We lived in Whyalla for three and a half years, before returning to Perth.
Adelaide is such a pretty city. I remember all the picturesque stalls – do they still have them?I only went to “A night at the Proms” once, and it was spectacular. Unfortunately, we were here when Doctor Who took it by storm.
Thank you for the info on David Tennant, a very attractive man isn’t he. Mind you, in spite of all the sidelong looks I get from friends, I also find Peter Capaldi atttractive too. I think it’s the part he plays as the Doctor, and the way he plays it.
I shall look the site up on Google.
Cheers,
Missy
19 April 2016 at 09:33 #51729My OH and I live in Perth, WA.
You are half right however, we were born and bred in London, therefore English to the backbone. *chuckles*
We did go to the Specatcular they had here last year and enjoyed it. As good as it was though, it didn’t
have the same ‘something‘ as the DW spectaculars held at the Royal Albert hall.
Which part of Oz do you live in?Cheers,
Missy
19 April 2016 at 09:25 #51728Now there speaks the voice of an experienced London teacher.
Thank you for the information.

19 April 2016 at 09:15 #51727I think that an episode can take people different ways. Where some of us may love the episode, another can hate it, another can be indifferent.
Like you, I have watched Heaven Sent more times than the other episodes in series 9, I find it bewitching.
However, Hello Bent must be amongst the most charming and gruelling ‘goodbye’ episodes I have ever seen.It simply depends on the individual. Do give it nother chance.
As for a favourite series, from Christopher Eccleston, to Peter Capaldi, I have loved them all – with the odd epi exception. I must admit that 8-9 are at the top of my superb list

If you needed my approval, which you do not, you’ve got it anyway. I agree with evrything you say, especially about watching an episode when/if depressed.
Not so sure about Hell bent being a soother, but Husbads most certainly is.End of threadnap.

Missy

Hello there and welcome to the Whovian Sanctum. *waves*
It’s one of mine. Heaven Sent is my all time favourite, both the script, acting and music.
Face the Raven and Hell Bent are next.cheers,
Missy
18 April 2016 at 05:25 #51706Thanks for the info.
Were I to win the lottery and could fly first class, I would be there.
However, as I never buy lottery tickets, my presence seems unlikely! *big grin*
The USA is a long way from OZ.Cheers,
Missy
17 April 2016 at 10:09 #51686I must keep an eye open for Class. Thank you everyone.
Cheers,
Missy
17 April 2016 at 10:05 #5168516 April 2016 at 06:23 #51671As I haven’t seen Class, I can’t comment. Also, as I didn’t like Big bang theory (neither I or my OH did) thought it was daft! Doenton Abbey was good intil series 4, then – in my opinion – it went down hill.
Cheers,
Missy
16 April 2016 at 06:18 #51670Thank you for that. Are we still obsessed about the ‘hybrid?’?
Well I am.Did they not have a life sized Tardis?

13 April 2016 at 09:54 #5164413 April 2016 at 09:52 #51643Classic, isn’t it.
I find that I’m using the word now. when asked yesterday “how di yoy do that?” I replied:
“A thing happened.”
Sorry, cant help myself it’s adictive. *big grin*
Cheers,
Missy
13 April 2016 at 09:49 #51642@kbranagh “I can’t wait for Hell Bent! Sound legendary.”
Make sure you have the tissues handy, Clara’s facial expression in the cafe is another killer. You will know what I mean when you get to it.
Cheers,
Missy
13 April 2016 at 09:46 #51641@arbutus Re “acting”, I’m reminded of Peter O’Toole’s wonderful line “I’m not an actor, I’m a movie star!”
Now there I disagree. Peter O’Toole, was an exceptional actor – not a film star. Memories of Lawrance of Arabia and The Lion in Winter are prime examples of his talent.
Cheers,
Missy
13 April 2016 at 09:43 #51640@puroandson
I agree about changing oneself to fit a role – or rather not doing so. However, acting ability alone can’t always cut it.
A prime example was The Kings Speech. Although it was a good story/script, Colin Firth as George V1 ruined the film for me. Good actor he may be, but he looked nothing like the King.
This was a shame it could have been an award winner – or was it?Cheers,
Missy
12 April 2016 at 04:51 #51624Oh very true. River was convinced that he would still have the MS face, not realising that “A thing” had happened.
Cheers,
Missy
12 April 2016 at 04:47 #5162212 April 2016 at 04:46 #51621Very high! I remember MG saying once, that he wanted his music to make people cry – or words to that affect/effect (never get that word right) – and it does.
One can only hope that MG continues to write for DW – or am I being selfish?
Cheers

Amy and Rory died, thanks to the Weeping Angels, with Matt Smith as Doctor.
Every time I watch Face the Raven I cry, mostly because of the Doctor’s reaction. Peter capaldi kissing Clara’s hand is a real killer. Why is it, that such a simple act can break one’s heart?
In Hell Bent, it’s more Clara’s reaction, when DW says that if he met Clara, he’d know her. that look of desolation on Clara’s face, is another killer. *says Missy, reaching for the tissues again*Cheers,
Missy
10 April 2016 at 09:32 #51607Well said. I’ve watched this more than any other episode in the series – only just beating ‘Husbands’.
A Buddhist Doctor – now, there’s a thought.
I still live in hopes that there will be an episode with Missy and River sparring.
How sensational that would that be and a fitting ‘farewell’ from Steven Moffat. *sigh*
Cheers
Missy
10 April 2016 at 09:25 #51606@theconsultingdoctor
Yes, that’s right. Everything resets when he dies and off he goes again.
A marvellous episode, one of Steven’s best in my opinion.Cheers,
Missy
8 April 2016 at 11:47 #51599Heaven Sent is such a favourite of mine, that I’ve watched it more than any other – except Husbands of River Song.
However, Face the Raven is Superb, we might see more of Sarah Dollard. Bello bent is wondrful, and like the former two, very, very sad.
It’s more the Doctor’s reaction than Clara’s. For possibly the second time in his life, he is completely helpless.
The grief on his face followed by the fury, had me reaching for the kleenex, as did Clara’s face when she sees that the Doctor really doesn’t know who she is in Hello Bent, heart breaking.
Brilliant writing.Cheers,
Missy
8 April 2016 at 11:38 #51598Enjoy, I akways do.

7 April 2016 at 05:56 #51592@puroandson Lansbury moved to the US in the 1940s where she studied and made some great films: it would be expected for her to put on a “posh” accent as you suggest, I believe.
That’s just it, she had a strong American accent whenever she was in the UK. Now I can see why.
However, she was never one of my favourites.Cheers,
Missy
7 April 2016 at 05:52 #51591Well, I’m excited! And yes, it has always gone to air on New Years Day or Eve.

6 April 2016 at 05:58 #51588SHERLOCK – SERIES 4
For all admirers (like moi) of this programme, filming began on the 4th.
No rumour, Mark Gatiss said so, I heard him.Cheers,
Missy
6 April 2016 at 05:55 #51587@puroandson
That’s because you have such excellent tast. As do we all. *big grin*
Hello Joam, I will be interested in hearing all the replies to your request.
As for me, you simply know it’s the Doctor, ( which is no help at all) although River didn’t. *grin*Cheers,
Missy
6 April 2016 at 05:49 #51586Like winston, I too can only dream.
Have a wonderful time and let us know all about it.

5 April 2016 at 08:18 #51581Had a look pedant, definitely different.
I kept thinking that it would have been even better, if Peter Capaldi had been playing.Cheers,
Missy
5 April 2016 at 08:13 #515805 April 2016 at 08:10 #51579Interesting, thank you.
I also had to smile at the 10 things Americans like about we British. In particular the way we take the micky out of ourselves.

Missy
2 April 2016 at 06:36 #51564@puroandson
Mine too.
Also among my favourites.
Recently I went on YT to see if I could find the music for Heaven Sent – and struck gold – literally!
It’s classed as the Heaven Sent Suite
Murray Gold seems to get better and better. He should receive an award for this episode alone.
Cheers,
Missy
2 April 2016 at 06:29 #51563What pedant said.
I did wonder about Colin Morgan (Merlin) perhaps too young?

30 March 2016 at 10:06 #51540As you say ichabod, “A hell of a story.”
Toby Whithouse is a good writer. “Under the Lake and “Before the Flood?”
What does everyone else think?
Cheers,
Missy
30 March 2016 at 09:57 #51539I’m ashamed to say that I don’t remember Adric? *blushes*

29 March 2016 at 06:58 #51512Osgood would be a fun companion. I hope they give us lots of companions in the new series and she is one of them.
Not much chance of that I fear – Osgood I mean.
Cheers,
Missy
29 March 2016 at 06:56 #51511I haven’t seen the original series for ages, but I know that I didn’t have a favourite companion – not even Sarah jane, I only had eyes for the Doctor – and the Tardis, oh, and K9 naturally. *grins*
The new series, is quite different, the companions have made an impression on me, whereas the earlier ones didn’t.Missy,
