Hello! I’m the other new (well, new-ish) person around here. Have some new member questions, in no particular order!
-Who’s your favorite Doctor, and why?
-Which episode’s your favorite, and why?
-What’s your favorite villain?
My answers are:
-Eleven, because he’s the one that got me interested in the show,
-I… actually don’t know, let’s go with Dalek, because when the Dalek proceeds to just fly up the stairs you can almost see its smirk even though it doesn’t have a face,
-And the Daleks, because the entire reason I started watching was because I wanted to know why the big saltshakers were supposed to be scary. Also, because you have to respect something that looks that ridiculous and still manages to make you hide behind the sofa.

I took the quiz too! I got Cerulean, and then I took it again and got Arcal.
I also took the Sparta quiz, because it looked fun. I also got old age, which apparently has all the sane answers!
Slightly off topic, but there’s no thread for it. I checked. Also, SPOILERS. Although it is Two, so really, it’s been around for practically forever…
Today I found some reconstructions of The Evil of the Daleks, and it was really good. Two pulled off some really good gambits, and Jamie had some good moments in there as well.
However, does anyone else agree that Alpha, Beta, and Omega, along with the rest of the “Factors” were the best part?

7 July 2016 at 21:44 #53164@1997whovian Hello! My favorite Doctor is Matt Smith, but Capaldi is awesome too. Favorite episode… I don’t know, but if I had to pick right now it would either be Dalek or Asylum of the Daleks.
Favorite companion is a Classic Who companion, Ace. Ace is different from other companions because instead of standing there and screaming or running away, Ace pulls out high explosives.
Also, she took on a Dalek with a baseball bat and won.
That is quite possibly the most awesome thing any companion has ever done. EVER.

If he runs out of lives (11) then he dies for good next time.
However, at the end of The Time of The Doctor, he was granted another cycle.

We’re currently on 12. That means that unless they give the Doctor more cycles, then he will continue to regenerate until he hits 24.
26 April 2016 at 23:21 #51927For the third one: Maybe Rassilon put the confession dial in a pocket dimension where time ran at a different speed, so it was 4 billion years where the dial was, but only a couple months or so on their end?
I mean, the Time Lords can canonically create other dimensions (IE Tardis Interiors) and they are TIME Lords, so maybe it’s possible?
For the first one: No idea. I’m not the BBC.
For the second one: Ah, a mystery! Although it was probably just Rassilon. Still, future writers might try to pick up the thread.

24 April 2016 at 18:26 #51861Oh, I don’t know about not scary. They’re still imperialistic space nazis, after all, and you have to have at least some respect for a species that can build and use a weapon that can destroy reality and win a war with the Time Lords.
Although they were stopped by the Doctor and company both times, but those were Acts of Writers. (First the Moment, then the meta-crisis.)
However, I do agree with your earlier point that they do look like futuristic plumbers.

On a more serious note, it might actually be someone that we’ve seen before. I, personally, wouldn’t mind a reappearance of Ace or another Classic companion.

Moffat decided to leave us on hiatus for a year as he left the BBC scrambling for a new showrunner, so the Hybrid Arc is the only one we really have to go on. (Unless you count Peter Capaldi’s “Am I a good man?” arc, which I don’t, because HE’S THE DOCTOR. If you look up the definition of a good man in the dictionary, it has a picture of his face there. Faces.)
Therefore, I’m obsessing over the Hybrid arc.

I promised all of you that I’d tell you about Emerald City Comic Con, but life’s been getting in the way, so I’m doing it now that I have spare time.
The Con was four days long and started on the seventh. The first day was a bit more calm, and I mostly just wandered around the exhibit floor. There was a booth giving out free books! FREE BOOKS! Free books are the best swag, aside from free video games, in my opinion. There was also a Dark Horse booth giving out free comics, and a booth selling only fezzes. Unfortunately, the fez booth had no Doctor Who fezzes. 🙁
The second day was more of a panel and show day. There was this one really funny show, called Gamers Live, and it was awesome. It was about these guys who were roleplaying and the actors actually portrayed the characters. Heh… control of boots.
After that, there was day three. I went to a Doctor Who fan meet-up and had a rather detailed discussion about the Hybrid plot arc, because it was the only one to obsess over at the moment. There was a guy dressed up as Four who had a working K-9 replica, and another person with a remote-controlled Dalek with a Four scarf and Fez on it! So cool!
Day four was a bit of a let down after that. I went to a fan panel for Doctor who, but they were mostly just talking about stuff in the Seattle Area that I couldn’t go to. There was a guy in a really good, as in could have been an actual costume good, Masquerade Clockwork Repair Drone from the 10 episode with Madame Pompadour, so there’s that.
Overall, it was really fun and I want to do it again sometime!

From one minute of scrolling I got:
Two versions of the main theme played on Tesla Coils
A mix of the main theme with the Game of Thrones theme
Canon Dalek Themes
A heavy metal version of “I am the Doctor” (It’s much better than it sounds)
and a rendition of “Am I the Doctor?” by Jon Pertwee (“I cross the void beyond the mind, the empty space that circles time…”)
There’s still more I haven’t listened to yet. Can’t wait until I can!

I don’t know about my favorite overall or in NuWho, but the Remembrance of the Daleks serial is my favorite Classic Who. Even for the people who don’t like Seven all that much…

You are right, though, that if you have no money in the first place, then you can’t save OR spend.

PS Asylum was pretty good, in my opinion. But then, the only reason I started watching Who was because I wanted to see why the giant pepper-pots were scary, and then they turned out to be awesome. So I’m biased.

2. 6 (He’s really fun to hate)

7. 2 and 8, who I haven’t actually seen any serials from, so he’s at the bottom by default. Yes, I know 8 was only in a TV movie and Big Finish, but I haven’t seen the TV movie either.
Together
1. 11 (I’m probably biased, he was the Doctor that introduced me to Who)
2. Toss-up between 12 and 7
3. 10
4. Toss-up between 9 and 6
5. 4
6. 3
7. 1
8. 5
9. 2 and 8 for the aforementioned reasons.
As for another companion I’d like to see on the show, it would be amazing if there could be another Ace-like companion, because Ace was awesome and I’m sad that . 🙂
Also, it might be interesting to see what would happen with a Temporary!Dalek Companion (Sort of like Jack. I saw this elsewhere and thought it was a good idea. Don’t remember where, though). I’m not saying that the Dalek has to be entirely willing to be on the TARDIS (it might be a prisoner or something) but it would be thought-provoking.

Ok, here’s my go at the question.
I believe that the Daleks would get bored. To stop the boredom, they would reincarnate the Doctor and continually defeat him for the lulz. At some point, the infinity-th (Yes, that’s a word that I just made up) clone/timestream paradox double/solid hologram/whatever plot device would manage to pull off something brilliant and escape for a long enough time period to cause the Big Bang for the THIRD time (Except that instead of being a Macguffin box flying into an exploding TARDIS, it would be an exploding Dalek armada).
Or they’d just remember what art was and go do that instead. XD
I’ll follow you up on your suggestion of looking at the Faces of the Doctor thread, it’s just that this thread said it was a good place for random discussion and your first post. 🙂

I actually have a bit of a nagging question. What do you guys think that the Daleks would do if they won, as in exterminated everything in the universe? Please don’t say that they would find other universes to exterminate or kill each other off, the whole point of the question is to look at more unconventional answers to the question.
