I looked them up – DT and MS- that is and they have done a lot of stage work, as well as Tv and film.

I don’t think that DW is the ‘kiss of death’ that Bond is.

Re: Angela Lansbury, good luck to her I say. The only time I could have shaken her, was when she was presenting something or other and her accent was pure American. She used to be very posh? It annoyed me.

I forgot whilst getting carried away by River Song, OSGOOD. Remember her?

Now there would be a perfect companion for ‘his nibs.’ In the Zygon thingy, the Doc invited her to come, but the two of them – by that time – decided to stay on Earth.

But, as SM hinted in the specials, Osgood was great, and of course there were TWO of her, The genius so and so almost winked – I could slap him sometimes. *big grim*

So, she might be back.

We get midges here in WA, but nothing like describved by puroandson solo. They also abound in the UK, especially near water.
The worse menace however, are mosquitoes when the weather becomes humid. There is a desease one can get from these beauties, called “Ross River (no, not that River) Virus’ if it doesn’t kill you, it can maim you.
Bring on the midges I say.

Agreed, after years of DW starvation, CE brought mr back into the fold too.
Unlike youself ichabod, I did like DT, but my OH liked him even better, although CE met with his approval too.
MS. OH did not like, but I did – let’s face it, I liked all three Doctors.
Tom Baker is a legend “in his own lunchbox” my youngest would say, and I shall always remember him and all the others with affection, but it is Peter Capaldi, who has earned my allegiance, the man is a genius, but then he has genius writers.

Yes, I can imagine River and Capt Jack together, especially with Peter Capaldi trying to control the pair of them.

Alex Kinston did say that she thought all was over for River after the Name of the Doctor, but then RM brought her

back. She more or less added – ‘so who knows what the “great” Steven Moffat has in his head.” Words to that effect.

Who nose indeed. *grins*

I recently received the series 9 Box set, and last night I rewatched the above.

It was a delight!

Although this has probably been said before, from the moment the Doctor said “River!” there was instant chemistry.

How I wish that Rvier could be the companion on a regular basis. *sigh* A double act made in heaven.

Isn’t he a wonder.
Interesting thought, aobut him taking over from Steven Moffat. I’d think that he’d almost certsinly write at least one episode for series TEN.
He will of course be co-writing Sherlock with Steven Moffat.
Sleep no More, stioll doesnt fill me with enthusiasm, but then perhaps I’m simply not getting it.

During the Matt Smith Doctor times around the time of Elisabeth Sladen’s passing I had the
notion that it might be great to take Luke around on a few trips? A companion who was the
former companions kid and so he and the Doctor could share memories? Plus Luke was
bright, imaginative and a good role model for younger fans that have a bit of an issue with
an older Doctor, maybe? I felt that had nice symmetry. Or possibly an adult version of Luke?
I just like it when threads run thru the various Doctor’s story arcs. It’s been a successful strategy
seeing some of the other old characters return. So how about a new companion that has a
connection to an old companion?
Actually, I’m ok with any new companion. TBH I was really having Clara fatigue because
I just simply liked her a lot better with Smith Doc.

What a good idea lisa, I like it. He could bring K9 back too.

After having seen a couple of epis of Elementary, with a female as Joan Watson *rolls eyes* I find it an awful idea.

So far I have been pleased with all the companions and I hope it will happen again. I might be in the minority but I would love to see the Doctor and River kicking around together, for a bit anyway. Maybe some adventures during that long night they have together? An alien companion would be good also, male or female.

Wouldn’t that be great Winston. But perhaps river is better kept for special moments.

Spotonski. DT in particular tended to be sentimental, whereas PC isn’t, but shows his affection in other ways.

One of my favourite lines of his is:

“Why? Do you think that I care for you so little, that betraying me would make a difference?”

I found that to be heart wrenchingly poignant and not a bit sentimental.

O’Donnell’s a fangirl. Fangirls generally can list the Doctors, with companions, in order. O’Donnell could probably have run through the entire set of Companions up to Capaldi-Doctor-and-Clara if she’d had the time – I bet Osgood can. 🙂

Tut, tut! David Tennant and Matt Smith!
They held the first spectacular in Cardiff and the second in the Royal Albert Hall, both with David Tennant.
The third was also in the RAH, with Matt Smith. Now I await the fourth with PC.

That might have been the problem. All I wanted to do, was shake Martha and slap the Doctor.
You are quite right arbutus, it was the writer’s fault.
I also felt that the Doctor was sentimental – Tennents Doctor that is – whereas, Eccleston’s and Smith’s Doctor, wasn’t. Niether, for that matter is Capaldi’s.
