    @Craig Happy Birthday. I would sing but I can’t, however I will charge my glass and drink a toast to you.

    We have a good friend turning fifty in two weeks time and were supposed to be heading to Melbourne for his birthday but that too is deferred for six months. Hopefully normal transmission will have resumed by then.

    @craig Sounds great. I do love this rewatch iniative. It is so positive and that is just what we need right now. Look forward to hearing more. Have not watched Rose for many a year so will be good to re watch it.

    @bluesqueakpip thank you, and yes, that makes sense. It is concerning when they reassure you that if it is that, it’s very very treatable, and then you hear, however, there might be no treatment for a long time, I think its the indefinite time period that makes it hard, not that there is anything they can do about it. My friend, who lives in…[Read more]

    I think RTD injected something quite unique (but utterly different from SM) into his novelisation of Rose but, yes, Cornell very much gives you a straight up-and-down, no-nonsense adaptation. Which is fair enough as it isn’t his story.

    @craig, @blenkinsopthebrave et al

    Yes, I believe Rose is coming up next to be followed by the…[Read more]

    @jimthefish @jannetteb @blenkinsopthebrave

    The novelisation of Day of the Doctor is an absolute joy. Other books in the range by Russell ‘the’ Davies (a nod to ‘fiveish doctors’ there) and Paul Cornell all seemed to try to go for the Terrance Dicks approach (and why not). Day of the Doctor has a clear authorial voice – if you’ve listened to…[Read more]

    I concur with the idea of revisiting some older shows, and (especially in light of The Day of the Doctor) would probably favour early Moffat to begin with. My memory of when this site came together was season 5. I say that because I recall posting on the site from Qantas Club lounges back in the day when I was doing a bit of…[Read more]

  • @jimthefish,

    A splendid idea. Hopefully, our wise and beneficent Emperor @craig will agree.

    As for Twitter and Instagram, I have never partaken and show no signs of ever wanting to. I see it as my early commitment to Social Isolation before my recent adoption of Physical Isolation.

  • JimTheFish replied to the topic The Kebab & Calculator

    I imagine it’s happening largely on social media — Twitter and Instagram being likely candidates. But perhaps we could prevail upon @craig to repost our Day of the Doctor thread back to the front page and we can join in here?

    It feels a bit quiet on the site and circumstances seem to be moving fast, and more of us (of a certain age) seem to be self-isolating. Hopefully, things will pass, but it would be great if there was a place where…[Read more]

    Miss Hadiza wants to know me (and I am sure I am not the only object of her attentions…)

  • Miapatrick replied to the topic Website comments (2)

    @Craig Miss Hadiza has come across my profile and developed interest in me. She’s offered to share photos with me, but since she didn’t specify ‘photos of my pet dog’ which are the only random photos I desire, she might need ejecting.

    @craig and @nightingale

    He was an actor of astonishing range and rare unpretentiousness and he never, to my knowledge, phoned it in. Even when he was doing something like voice work for The Elder Scrolls there was something compelling in his performance.

    @craig Ah, I think I’ve got it. It’s Professor Yana from the “Utopia” episode (David Tennant era). Derek Jacobi played Yana/the Master before regenerating. I’d forgotten all about this episode, but now I see (as others have been pointing out) parallels between this episode and that one. And yes, “you are not alone/y-a-n-a” was a running theme.

    @Craig – thanks for that anecdote. I appreciate how his ear picks up on stuff (though absolutely not saying mine could). In fact I appreciate it because my ears couldn’t!
    Your posting of both tracks for me really showed that too.

    so catching up but still very behind. Just watched Praxus and really enjoyed it. Must say this series is really upping the game. The “fam” especially are really growing in confidence and I liked that they got to go off and do their own thing in this story. Was nice to see Yaz and Ryan especially having their own adventures.

    @craig – christ I can smell that weird perfumey smell from the dry ice like it was last night.
    I must’ve danced to it loads.
    Mates had the album and I just couldn’t figure how that band that I was never that impressed with now sounded so damn funky/ dancey.

    Hi @davros

    This is probably a question for our resident Time Lords, @craig, @jimthefish, @phaseshift, who manage the site. In the interim, there is always the “On the Sofa” thread, which is open to all Who-related discussion.
