Sorry @craig Ending made sense for me – virus, antivirus. AI. AI fights back. Very Moff. Love (parental) saves the day. Clerical soldiers (again!), war as capitalism. Reminded me a bit of Oxygen (which I also loved). And yes (as Moffat’s said in interviews) ripped off/inspired by Genesis of the Daleks.

Disneyfication of DW? Capitulation to US…[Read more]

@WhoHar <waves> I like Martin Bellam as a successor to our sadly missed Dan Martin, but the comments section closes so early on T’Other Place now it’s ridiculous, and it’s always been a bit of a hornets’ nest – hence @Craig our Emperor’s creation of this excellent and well-moderated space.

The thing is, the Guardian’s Doctor Who fandom is just…[Read more]

@Bunface @Craig @ScaryB – loving the Chris Waites and the Carollers spot and Easter egg pointing to Susan again.

@Blenkinsopthebrave

I seem to recall the Doctor telling Ruby that they are in London at the same time as The Hartnell Doctor and Susan. (Or words to that effect.) And at some point a bit later he stares wistfully across at where his…

hmm, I see we have an incursion from the tedious culture warrior brigade. Just to echo @craig if you want to contribute then make sure it’s an actual contribution and not the usual tired word salad of Clarksonisms. Plus make sure it respects the community etiquette guidelines.

Full thoughts later but just to chip in on the billboard controversy.…[Read more]

@craig

I got the exact same shot! Thanks.

Thank you @Craig (And yes, I believe this is the pattern for the rest of the series).

IMO it’s very exciting to have all of us potentially able to watch at the same time (or at least those who have Disney+ or itunes).

Agree with @WhoHar (and greetings my Antipodean friend) anything goes on the episode threads, but no spoilers at any time outwith…[Read more]

Greetings Emperor Craig

As the new Disney + arrangement means that those of us in North America have now already seen the show I wasn’t sure if you wanted to wait until it available in the UK before posting a page for it or not. Probably best if we hold back on comments until you post a dedicated page.

Cheers.

@craig Just a heads-up: Looks like a spammy post in The Winchester.

To all my fellow Whovians,the tall and the small , I just wanted to say “Well done, Well done everybody, we are half way out of the dark”

I wish you peace and calm and good health. I hope you stay safe and happy and that life treats you well. Thank you all for giving me another year of good conversations about our favourite Doctor with a special…[Read more]

Hi Declan,

Not much to add to the advice and support offered by the lovely people here (@ps1l0v3y0u, @juniperfish, @craig, and of course Grandma @winston ).

However, it does seem like we are online at the same time quite alot, (Maybe even same time zone), so feel free to reach out if you need a chat, and I’ll try to respond in a…[Read more]

@ juniperfish @craig

+1 to that suggestion.

Sneaking out of work briefly to wonder whether a 6oth Anniversary “What’s Your Favourite Who Series/ Story/ Episode from 60 years of Who” topic might be nice @craig for Yuletide? Seeing as the BBC has kindly made so much of the back catalogue available on iplayer at present…

@scaryb @jimthefish @craig @phaseshift

just to add my thoughts on the sad loss of Ian Gibson.
And to echo Jim’s plea that we put Mick McMahon into some sort of protective space.

(but not an iso cube)

Gibson’s flowing lyrical lines were so powerful for me when I saw them in 2000AD.
It created an environment and characterisation that couldn’t…[Read more]

@craig – just to say I’m more than happy to help in terms of bouncing ideas off, financial contribution etc.

Not that I can have done a better job, but I know what goes into making sites so I’m happy to help at least in the ‘thinking’ part.
And happy to help financially.

@scaryb @jimthefish @craig

Gutted to hear that myself. If anyone doesn’t know about the impact Halo Jones had on Andrew Cartmel’s run on Doctor Who can I post this link to the blog on 2000AD I wrote back when we were doing retrospectives?

2000AD Doctor Who (Gridlock edition)

Not quite sure where to post this – @Craig, @JimtheFish, @Phaseshift feel free to relocate it.

I know there are a good few Ballad of Halo Jones and 2000 AD fans in our little group, and I just wanted to mark the sad news today of the passing of artist Ian Gibson, after a long battle with cancer. Pat Mills tweeted it out earlier, but it’s now been…[Read more]

I watched this too late after too many beers to trust myself to get all my thoughts down but I will say this: going head to head against Tennent and NPH (who I’m surprised didn’t actually do his own vocal) and Tate, Ncuti Gatwa burst into this episode with beautifully energetic charisma. Stunning debut.

now I’m going to do the mature thing and Go…[Read more]

This is interesting. On the commentary to this episode you have RTD and Phil Collison on talking and suggesting this ‘biregeneration’ has echoed back through all the other regenerations.

I’ve had a go at transcribing:

RTD: So then, the whole timeline bi-regenerated. Sylvester McCoy woke up in a drawer in a morgue… and Jon Pertwee woke up on…[Read more]

@craig

It’s almost like RTD can never let David Tennant go

@juniperfish

I think you’re right @craig, that RTD can’t quite ever let Tennant go. But honestly, what’s not to love about that?

I honestly don’t think it’s that controversial to be honest but I think it’s bound to be read by some as a lack of faith in N’Cuti. They have Tennant in rese…[Read more]
