@pedant The flashes of lights did look like a show I saw on the brain. When different parts of the brain were used electric flashes showed the researchers what part of the brain was being accessed. So I agree with you there, I think she is in a brain like place.

Def need a re watch before Sunday. So glad shes finally got better writing. Still a lil bit of over explanation but a drop dead reveal. Loving the nod to Sims manic and hilariously psychotic Master. Excited hand clapping in a villain, always good.

But you had a special line, all for you. Didn’t you notice?

    @pedant
I now want to re-watch so I can spot the clues – agreed, it was a world-class fakeout. But Dracula is in twenty five minutes.

  • The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, Python, The Rutles. They were my teenage through early twenties years.

To have seen him in concert…I envy you, @pedant.

@pedant   I love these, especially Gaudete, which is an Arbutus family favourite. Here’s another that comes up at our annual carol sing, carefully timed so that we haven’t had too much wine and cheese to get through it, but just enough to not feel self-conscious when we mess up the verses (we take turns soloing, and we never fail to mess them up,…[Read more]

@pedant  Sad magic is my Christmas this year. It is a little tough for us but the granddaughters  are coming in the morning for Christmas Day and they are a blessing.

@thane16  After Doctor Who, Boston Legal is my fave! I love Alan and Denny Shore. Thanks.

  • @pedant

But the other bit, it’s “and we can do it together.

Lovely The Buff. So, good. We haven’t watched anything yet. After our evening meal on Christmas ‘eve (Czechs do this on the 24th so the 25th is a very lazy day) I went straight to bed. So hot & humid the jelly was melting.

    Ah yes Toby.

But I think this luverly scene fits round about now. Don’t YOU??

Niice. Sounds a lot like Patrick Doyle’s thing even though this is 400 years old!

  • winston replied to the topic On The Sofa (9)

@blenkinsopthebrave  I love that movie and even those clips had me giggling! I love a good insult.

@pedant Thanks for the clip and “ditto”.

@pedant – my parents were economic migrants.
My dad caught the thick end of abuse.

    Fuck off.

You called me an enabler of racism.

    Fuck off.

I’ll listen to music and reply to that but fuck off.

    Merry xmas

    Can I be clear(er)?

In my anecdote, when the person made the comments about the strain on local services and it being the fault of “the Poles and Lithuanians”, my family member and myself both made the point that the person’s belief needed to extend to… my family member, two other people in the conversation and others they’d…[Read more]

    Hi @pedant

Well, I realise that I’ve left an important part out.
I guess I tried to use the anecdotal info along with the general, as “they” are not a homogeneous bloc.
And yes, I mean “they” in every sense of Poles, Blacks, Muslims, ‘others’… Leavers.

The group I was talking with were lumping all the Poles and Lithuanians together as ‘them’,…[Read more]

Hey YOU! You’ve been gone a very. Long. Time 🙁

I hope all is well in the Arbutus manor?

And that reminds me of another manor!  The @idiotsavon castle!

I spent, ooh, about 3 hours last night watching Listen & reading all the comments. I’m a-watching all of the Peter Capaldi years again. How beautiful. I was reading a…[Read more]

@pedant – thanks again for the Dixie Chicks.
And thanks for the ever-prompt to check lyrics (I do mean this without any sarcasm or humour or whatever – I know text on a screen and my usual-tone might make it seem something other, but I do genuinely mean it).

I realise that the only thing I have close to the Dixie Chicks in sound terms is REM.
    Or…[Read more]

ah, @pedant my wording, my bad.

    “They’re not racist but… they’re uncomfortable”

I can’t get back into my head and so can’t exactly remember what I was trying to get at.
Whatever I was doing I was being too clever by half.

Maybe I was trying to write a phrase with far too many things ‘between the lines’ (or ellipses).

    So, while I don’t think…[Read more]

@blenkinsopthebrave You did, you thought right the 1st time & you’re right the 2nd time (or is that the 3rd?). I was aiming for pithy. Instead you got the pith. 🙂  That was my first ever CD -$29.99.

Thank you. We do need an uplift.

If you think that the adjective ‘decent’ applies in any shape or form to Cummings you are either ill informed or your judgement is seriously askew, and one of the most dismaying things about the House of Commons as currently constituted, and more particularly the Conservatives, is the lack of talent on the front benches.

    As for Alexander…[Read more]
