    @dentarthurdent you are probably right about Longitude. I needed a dictionary and encyclopaedia (I actually have a large Collins encyclopaedia of History) to work out what the hell was happening.

    I like Morricone too. And Lord of The Rings: but once was enough for me.
    I’ve realised it’s not War and Peace but Crime and Punishment! I can’t even…[Read more]

    welcome to the forum. I’m in my early 20s & recognise Blink182 & Lock Stock etc. Like @dentarthurdent I also know Fleetwood Mac & Dire Straits though I’m pretty sure most of my friends wouldn’t have a clue. I don’t know what lapfox trax, breakcore or speedcore is! I think emo was connected to the scene kids of the ‘10s which I basical…[Read more]

    yes, it’s a difficult situation when we are living so far away from our close family. If there’s anything we can do, particularly as we’re in Brisbane, please let us know.

    Thano.

    @winston

    we’re terribly sorry to hear of your loss & condolences from all us Christensan’s here in Aus. It’s awful that it was so quick and unexpected. That you couldn’t make the funeral either as it was so far away also.

    All our love. ❤️❤️😢

    Happy new year to all us Forum Buddies. To @oochillyo @dentarthurdent @nerys @janetteB @winston @nerys @blenkinsopthebrave and many more…

    my NY reso is to work more in the garden, despite the muggy heat. I’d like to say exercise & diet but I doubt that’ll change!
    Hope we all stay safe from further Covid outbreaks and that the unnerving polit…[Read more]

    yes, indeed.
    and the filmic quality of those episodes are intriguing. They really are colour-rich, just drenched in sun & shadow. The Silent’s features filled with hollow spaces & crevices like the moon….

    @dentarthurdent

    yes, my smartphone IS a computer. I use the internet on it to text people, just as I would my laptop.

    I also had a very cheap push button phone (a Nokia)  from 2011. It died eventually in 2021. Texts were my main form of communication & they still are but now I can access photos or send links via my phone (which uses an email a…[Read more]

    hi there. Yes, ‘loading up’ was incorrect. I find, though, that after I click on 22 it takes a few minutes to get there. At that point, on my phone, at least, I have an awful lot of scrolling followed by it (often) going back to page 1 again.

  • syzygy replied to the topic Dr Who News (5)

    @blenkinsopthebrave yes, that sounds like a very good plan. Is it that the Doctor doesn’t really connect with Donna? That the story, involves her, but not?
    The last couple of The Doctor Donna episodes, had various people (like the Shadow Proclamation) stating, “I’m sorry for your loss.” And when Donna prodded, the younger woman reiterated, “the lo…[Read more]

    @janetteb and to you! Yes, we’re doing well. It’s hot here but we’ve had no rain & compared with the flood peaks expected today in Victoria (??), I believe, we’re very grateful. I know flood warnings came 7 days ago with expected river peaks effectively at midnight last night. Not good at all. It either never rains, and there’s fires, or it floods…[Read more]

    @nerys you have restored my memory! Yes, it was Roadkill.

    McRory was wonderful. I remember her in Northsquare. Back in ‘98, I think.

    @nerys absolutely 👍 for Hugh. His voice -whether as the bloviating House or in an English role is worth a watch. I did see him in a British political thriller 2-3 years ago which was a disappointment, imho, but more to do with the occluded story line than anything Hugh-wise. 😀

    Hey again @Oochillyo.
    im sorry I didn’t see your other post. You absolutely, definitely shouldn’t give up your dreams of creating art. During Covid I think we all experienced terrible loneliness so doing anything remotely crafty is a must.

    Hi @Oochillyo

    I wish I could help you! My areas are music & history. Yes, I’d like to know that too. I don’t think conservation of energy is a law, though….

    I’d add, however,  that energy in & energy out isn’t the same & doesn’t need to be, as per your 5th paragraph.
    🙂

    @winston golly, yes, “It” scared me too. And I’m alright around clowns. You didn’t do anything wrong. These things happen.

    Thane stayed with a friend 3 years his senior so he saw the 4th Harry Potter at age 8 & spent the next YEAR yelling thru the wee hours, wanting night lights/ stair lights, when, from Year Zero he’d never had those additions…[Read more]

    @winston You are a card! (As me dear ma used to say).
    “never ask granny for a fu**ing cookie” indeed.

    yes, certain films may not be Christmas flicks, per se, but as memories with kids, it’s a great reminder. Two years ago Thane commanded: We. Are. All. Watching. Harry Potter. This. Christmas.

    I thought “all? You mean 1 film, yes?” No, it was al…[Read more]
