Well we have made it through another storm although Xmas is cancelled till next weekend. That is fine with me as long as everyone is safe. It was a day of good old fashioned phone calls and that was nice. The mister and I took plates of goodies and loaves of bread to our neighbours so they would get eaten up and then we watched Back to the Future.…[Read more]

@janetteb  Thanks for the heads up about The Amazing Maurice, I am a big fan of Pratchett and I look forward to this! David Tenant does a lot of voices in animated shows ( there I made the Doctor connection) and he can sound so different it takes me a bit to get the voice.

@thane16     Hello. I hope your holiday is going great!

    stay merry

@thane16 Was that Roadkill? I thought it started well, but didn’t quite come together. What became of the investigation into the journalist’s death? Was it an accident, or was she run down deliberately? I guess we’ll never know.

But, if nothing else, it was worth it to see Helen McCrory in her final role. She was magnificent, as always.

@nerys and @thane16 I just watched the trailer for The Amazing Maurice which I am looking forward to having enjoyed the book by Pratchett. Maurice is voiced by Hugh Laurie. David Tennant also voices a character. (one of the rats) so this post isn’t entirely off topic.  🙂

    Cheers

    Janette

@thane16 I agree with @winston‘s and @janetteb‘s assessments of Avenue 5. Overall, I enjoy it, though there are some slapsticky, over-the-top moments. But I find far more to like than to dislike. Hugh Laurie could recite the telephone book and make it entertaining!

@janetteb   We really liked The Detectorists and I had no idea about the Christmas special so thanks! It is a show that amuses and relaxes and everyone in it are mint. Staged is like that also.

I will probably watch one version of Scrooge maybe even Scrooged and the animated Grinch which I have watched since I was a child. We also have a list o…[Read more]

I just copied a few onto my laptop for the next few days, have just watched the Christmas episode of Goodnight Sweetheart, have the Christmas specials of Upstart Crow, and Hogfather on the list and one of the old BBC versions of A Christmas Carol. then the Dr Who Christmas Specials but hopefully will be…[Read more]

@thane16 Hi. Hope the weather is being nice to you up in Brisbane. WE are finally getting some warm, spring weather and the jacarandas are in full bloom. My favourite time of year.

and @winston I liked AVenue5 too. Some of the humour was too ott for my taste but overall I enjoyed it and will certainly watch the next series. As Winston says we all…[Read more]

@thane16    Hello!  Sorry it took so long to answer but life will interfere with my spare time. I hope you and the family are all well and enjoying your summer. We are having a bit of a snowstorm right now but we are tucked up inside so no big worries. Winter is coming…….

@thane16 No, I’m not high, not an actor, and not a writer either. When I say I’m not a writer, I mean that I don’t write any short stories, books, or scripts, although I might be able to. My favourite TV programmes are “Doctor Who” and all Star Trek series except the animated ones. I’ve recently been watching some other series on Britbox, such as…[Read more]

@thane16 (welcome back, old friend) and @winston

Like you, I would probably agree (now that I give it more thought) that the final Whittaker special deserves a rewatch. Funny, the appearance of Tennant in a story with Whittaker evoked a memory of Broadchurch. A pity Chibnall didn’t manage to squeeze Olivia Colman in as well.

@thane16 Lovely to hear from you, (both) Big waves from way down south, (and quite a big west) Hope you are not being flooded. The east coast is really suffering. We are just getting moderate rain, which is very welcome, though the farmers will start complaining if it doesn’t dry up soon in time for harvest.

@thane16   Hey!  I hope everything is good for you and the family. We have been busy here getting all the fruit and veg harvested and jam and  jellied, pickled and preserved, frozen and dried and stored away for the long dark of winter. Although I love gardening and all the work that goes with it I am so happy when winter does  come. Almost 4 whol…[Read more]

@nerys Hi. Hopefully things will be fine now and as a positive, the “complaints” have spurred us to start long overdue work on fixing the website and we are now getting our podcasts onto Spotify which will make them far more accessible and hopefully increase our listener base.

@thane16    I saw the flooding in Brisbane on the news and it is devastating. I hope you and your family are safe and my heart goes out to the families who have lost so much.  Just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts ,crowded as they are.

@thane16   hi there!  A week of rain can cause a lot of trouble so its good you are on a hill. We live on a creek and have a bit of flooding every spring and every now and then a big flood but we are also up on a hill so we are usually OK. One year the water came up to 4 or 5 feet from the house and it was very tense for awhile. Luckily it re…[Read more]

@thane16 Good to see you back here in these parts! I’m glad you enjoyed the New Year’s special. It hit all the right notes, for me. I could ask, “Now, why weren’t we given more of that with this Doctor?” (And I did.) But I’m also grateful that we got what we got.

so, I had a “s**t” night. A committee meeting that left at least two people in tears, one of them being me, the other my daughter in law to be, and my son, who is the Chairperson, trying to console us both. So, I asked the s/o to put on one of my favourite Dr Who episodes, Hell Bent because of this discussion.

He has just walked into the diner.…[Read more]

A reciprocal, though belated halloo. It is good to see you here again; you have been missed.

I guess you are right that the Doctor used his sonic/wearable technology and/or psychic paper to obtain money. On the face of it that would be fraud, but if, as Kate once said, he is ‘on the [UNIT] payroll’, maybe it would…[Read more]
