Does anyone know when The Doctor will be aired in BBC America in the near future?

    #73116

Thank you, Janette. It must take a lot of courage to kill off someone that is very popular. Or even “send them away” like Rose,  Rory, Amy, Mickey. (I’m the tin dog, funniest line on the show). Also, in the “dangerous” world of The Doctor, there has to be casualties, sadly.  And I have enjoyed the programs with more than one doctor showing up. Always interesting. Have a goodern. (From a southern, country boy, Whovian).

I’ve always found it interesting/ironic that the writers have never had a problem killing off characters we really like, unlike other TV series where popular characters last forever. And nobody rocks a Fez like Matt Smith. 🙂

I believe the TARDIS is just like Snoopy’s doghouse, it has an indoor pool, right?

I feel like I just need to post my actua photo and she won’t bother me. LOL

I really liked the contrast between the different doctors. Eccleston looking at his “big ears”. More “athletic”, Tennant and his “brooding”, Smith’s “goofiness”, Capaldi should have wailed away on his guitar more. Some changes I didn’t like, the sonic screwdriver not being used, the TARDIS looking like the bridge of a starship, the loss of companions I really liked, but I realize if there hadn’t been changes, the TARDIS would be getting really crowded, no matter how “big it is on the inside”. The “special shows” with the return of old doctors and companions were always great. Or to see Tennant and Smith play off against each other and then Hurt shows up. Great. I must confess, I have not watched the latest doctor, but hope to do that soon. Ya’ll have a goodern.

The Doctor isn’t a real person? OH NO! Seriously, I always enjoyed Capaldi’s guitar playing.

I realize that many of the past stars of The Doctor would have a difficult time coming back full time, and I don’t think I would want that. I was wondering about a “special guest appearance”, or a special show. I do not want to see it get bogged down, either. I’ve watched other shows in the past and I finally got burned out on them after so many years.

I have been DVRing the new episodes and have not watched them yet. With the holidays coming up and regular TV goes to reruns and Christmas shows that aren’t very Christmassy, I hope to get caught up. 1st, glad the Doctor has a sonic screwdriver again. 2nd I still liked the old TARDIS better, the new TARDIS looks to much like a carousel  at the fair. i liked the baling wire theme the old TARDIS had. BTW, I have never watched the old Doctor programs, the old black and whites, hopefully BBC America will run them sometime in the future. I’m wondering, whatever happened to the Doctor’s granddaughter, where did she go? Or the Doctor’s daughter cloned from David Tennant’s Doctor? Why can’t the Doctor go back in time and visit Amy and Rory? Clara Oswald was the “Impossible Girl” who supposedly couldn’t die and then did????? Donna, Martha, they aren’t dead, are they? Why can’t the Doctor ever see them? So many great characters to miss. Loved Sarah Jane Smith, what few shows I saw of hers, and her limited series. Any answers, comments, shut ups, (LOL) would be appreciated.

So regeneration can change XY chromosomes into XX? 🙂 My biggest “complaint” although I’m not really complaining, is “falling in love” with the characters and companions of Dr. Who and have them “move on”. Rose, Clara, Martha, Mickey, loved his line “I’m the tin dog”, LOL. But I can’t change things so I have to move on. Haven’t watched the new doctor yet, but will soon, DVR’ing the new episodes with intentions to watch them when the weather gets cold and nasty and it gets dark at suppertime. Feel free to reply, but keep it clean. :-).

I don’t even remember when I first watch the Dr. I worked with someone sometime between 1975-1984 who watched the Dr. on public TV in the US. When I signed up for Dish Network with BBC-America, I discovered the Dr. and I think Chris Eccleston was the 1st Dr. I saw. I was finally warming up to Peter Capaldi and now he is gone. I will miss his guitar playing. I haven’t watch Dr. Whoette yet (LOL) and am wondering how regeneration can change an XY into an XX. Ya’ll have a goodern.

I haven’t posted or followed the forums lately, but apparently there has been a flame war going on. I have read a post by one person who rambled on so that I was totally lost as to the point of their post. As for Mel, while he may be a jerk, he is also a “talented jerk” like far too many in Hellyweird. Ya’ll have a goodern.

When I watch The Doctor, there is always a wide range of emotions. When beloved characters leave, it always leave me sad, but I don’t want “depression”. When The Doctor stays “gloomy” for several episodes, yep, depression, pretty much. And I miss the “old” TARDIS where everything looked like it was patched together with baling wire, a oppressor to duct tape and Superglue. the new TARDIS looks like a carnival ride or carousel.

Love the guitar, but does he have a sonic screwdriver? If not, he needs one. That’s as much a part of The Doctor as the TARDIS.

I like him a little lighter at the least. The Doctor was getting depressing, too much “inner guilt”, for lack of a better term.

I told one I was 67 and had been happily married for over 43 years. Maybe I should have added I’m also flat broke.

Thanks, appreciate that, but it sounds like Common Core math to me. LOL

Help me here. The Doctor can regenerate 12 times, or there can be 12 Doctors total? What happens when we run out of regeneration’s?

Anyone besides me get dizzy the last 15 minutes of Heaven Sent?

Don’t know where to post this question, but does anyone know why the Time Lords are such jerks? They are supposed to be “the best of the best”. Super intelligent, super civilized, but acts rotten. Also, how could the “greatest’ get their hineys whopped by the Daleks?

    #48656

I have slowly warmed to Peter Capaldi as The Doctor. I will miss Clara, she is/was so cute. As the “Impossible Girl” hasn’t she already died twice? Sometimes hard to keep up. Some of this may have already been covered. I need to visit here more often. Spoilers anyone? Catch me up please.

Blue, you got that right, all I have to do is walk to the mailbox and pull out the bills and reality happens. 🙂

I’m feeling kinda dizzy, when you start researching The Doctor and his friends and companions, you go around it circles, it seems. Must be a timey-wimey thing. Took me a little while to realize he went to see Rose Tyler before he met her in “The End of Time”. I also didn’t realize that Martha Jones married Mickey Smith. When you research these things on the internet, your head starts to spin.

To those of you new to Dr. Who, be warned, you will get lost/confused/not sure of what century you actually live, ENJOY!

Being a latecomer to Dr. Who, although I have watched every episode starting with Chris Eccleston, I have a big question. How is it that Galifrey with it’s “superior science” and mentality can get their butts kicked by the Daleks? Also, why do the leaders of Galifrey come across as “evil”? I thought superior minds had superior “thoughts”. Help!

The best Canadian joke I’ve heard was by a Canadian comedian was when she stated she was from Canada and someone asked her since she was from Canada, did she know “so-and-so”? She replied, “do I know them, he!! yes I know them, there aren’t but 5 of us living up here.

Thanks, Bluepipsqueak, always felt bad for Rory and Amy for losing Melody. (The Doctor is affecting me too much, feeling bad for fictional characters.)

    #25538

Stone sliding? At first I was thinking “3 skips on the water” like Peter Pan.

    #25534

Just wondering, does anyone know if Rory and Amy ever had anymore children after the Weeping Angel “killed them into the past”?

    #24401

I was thinking of the music of the “When a Good Man Goes To War” episode, but don’t remember how it goes for the life of me. Where are those earworms when you want them.

    #24397

“Who’s on first”.  A question or a statement?

BTW,, love the music when The Doctor “goes to war”.

    #24356

On to other topics. I appreciate the input and have a better understanding of The Doctor. I’ve never watched the “first” Doctors, other than an episode or two. In those days, we only had one TV when The Doctor was running on “public television”, and my wife wasn’t a fan of SciFi. The sacrifices we make.

NOW, I love the music on The Doctor. The choruses and orchestral arrangements. If they ever start using “rock” music in the background, I’m through. Rock just wouldn’t work with The Doctor. That’s my two cents worth.

    #24320

I’ve been wondering after thinking about how “might” or “powerful” the Time Lords were, how could a bunch of playground bullies like the Daleks give them such a hard time? I’ve saw this on other Sci-fi shows, also. Stargate SG-1, the Asgard struggled even with all their knowledge. Then there were the “Ancients”, mentioned in Stargate Atlantis. The Wraith managed to give the Ancients “fits”.

So just why did the Time Lords appear to be so “defenseless”? Any answers, ideas, or thoughts?

    #23975

Meadowrose, I just started seriously watching a couple of years ago. I’ve seen most of the episode starting with Chris Eccleston. Really liking a Doctor and then loosing him can be rough, but that’s the nature of a Timelord. The same thing happens with companions. I typically DVR an episode and then watch it. Sometimes the “accent” can be a bit difficult to understand some words, so I have to back up and listen again. I have little experience with the “black-and-white Doctors. PBS wasn’t a very clear station when they were on. One reason I love The Doctor so much is because it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been a Sci-Fi fan since my first Superman comic book. ENJOY!

Checked my Spam box on my email. Had two emails informing me my ATMOS bill was available online.
