really loved this, a nice wrap-up for all the cast. it didn’t feel as epic as previous moff finales, but i guess that’s because he’s not steering the show into the next series, and there was only the need to finish up the story threads and character arcs from this year?
over on reddit, someone thought that perhaps missy was letting the doctor…[Read more]

My husband and I were trying to figure out how there could be two of them (same way we got multiple Doctors in The Day of the Doctor).
in ‘tDotD’ it was the involvement of the Moment, a force/source of great power, that allowed all the doctors to interact, so i’m guessing any “great force” can overcome the blinovitch limitation effect……[Read more]

i love the beard, too, but was also grinning madly when it (finally) dawned on me that he was razor, in disguise the whole time! that gave it such an old who vibe…
also made me wonder if his chosen name was “the master… of disguises!” and he’s just shortened it since? LOL

“avoiding something else” I can only think that this is his regeneration.
i had a thought that perhaps he nose about his coming regeneration, because he had a peek into river’s diary? “a thing happened.” and so he’s suffering from existential dread, knowing it’s coming…
it often seems to me that the doctor has a bit…[Read more]

5000 Romans of the 9th Legion defeated an army of 30,000 Picts – according to the Romans. It was on their journey back south from this battle that the 9th seems to have disappeared.
when i read this, my gut reaction was “simple propaganda.” most likely the picts defeated the romans, but the leaders back home couldn’t report that, so…[Read more]

I repeat. Bill’s phone ringtone could be of some significance. (see post 58281)
what a brilliant catch! i checked ‘the pilot,’ and bill’s ringtone is the same there (when she gets a call from her stepmum)… so is this series dovetailing with the harold saxon storyline, somehow?! could bill’s mum be one of martha’s sisters? wow, i wi…[Read more]

And then the Doctor’s sight is restored remotely, using essentially godlike powers. I’ll avoid using that three-letter acronym, to avoid raising hackles, and just settle for the innuendo in calling it “godlike”.
that scene would have made more sense, had they simply used the light from the pyramid to bathe the doctor in a healing…[Read more]

so, any classical lit people care to ponder on whether/how the monks’ brightly lit cables are inspired by the greek fates, and their loom of life? it was the first thing i thought of, since the monks use those cables to “read” the future…
i admit, i didn’t have high hopes going in to this one, as it’s the middle of a three parter, but the…[Read more]

oh, i agree, it would be a cheat, and would cause more problems than it could solve. i’m merely throwing out some mad thoughts about how two mad characters might work together…
as to the how, look no further than the chameleon arch, which disguised the master at the end of time, and the doctor when he was hiding out from the family…[Read more]

also, hasn’t someone else had the thought that perhaps missy is parading around as the doctor, so far this series? could the doctor have made a deal, and an audacious “switcheroo,” before sealing up the vault, and it’s he who is actually in there?
it’s a half-baked idea in my mind, at the moment, but the 1,000 year promise to not leave the vault…[Read more]

An alien race running a ‘matrix’ like simulation to figure out the best way to invade the Earth. Just interested in only the Earth?
it took a while to catch up on all the posts, this was from page 1, and i don’t think anyone else has responded to it…
but, i think this has to do with two things. the first is the obvious one, and ties…[Read more]

It can only be…RICK WAKEMAN!
LOL… but there aren’t nearly enough notes squeezed into those two little piano pieces, for it to be The Cape, himself!
some great theories about the vault since the last time i checked in. i’m still thinking, tho:
1) the master. (why is the more important question, instead of really?) perhaps the m…[Read more]

oooh, i just had an interesting thought. perhaps bill is in the vault, and the doctor’s keeping her there against her will, or for her protection (from missy?), for some yet-to-be-explained reason?! we just haven’t seen her play the piano, or learned that her stepmum had her take lessons… yet.
😀
or, bill’s mum?!

Fur Elise, not brooding, but was with hordes of youngsters playing….stick a fork in my eye. I therefore get your point
lol, you have my deepest sympathy for having had to endure that!
but i wasn’t specific enough in my post, the nature of the piece isn’t brooding, it’s being played by someone* who’s in a brooding mood, a bit sulky, a…[Read more]

how did a six-year old survive on his own, while caring for his mother? Oh, probably not supposed to ask that.
i was wondering that, too. perhaps they were already living off an inheritance, and he’s really, really, really frugal in spending that money? i wondered, as well, why he wouldn’t know the current prime minister,…[Read more]
