Missy replied to the topic Jodie Whittaker announced as the new, 13th Doctor
@mirime: I think @missy and I feel similarly about the Twelfth Doctor – and I also don’t feel the need to have everything wrapped up neatly with a bow on top, nothing wrong with loose ends!
Agreed. Also I have many friends who watch DW but aren’t fans, they also feel that a female Doctor is a mistake.
Time will tell of cour…[Read more]

@antaus: re your post 61219 – an the rest as far as I can see.
I couldn’t agree more. Naturally to be able to criticise and judge, I must watch series 11, or some of it at least.
Justseeing JW in the Tardis makes me cringe. Just to repeat myself, before we knew that JW was to be the next Doctor, my OH and I ere watching Broadchurch series 3. T…[Read more]

@tardigrade: However, I actually think it may be a good time to ditch the Time Lord/Lady terminology altogether, as it’s not just the gender of the term that’s the issue. The modern connotations of “Lord” don’t sit well with the Doctor’s character. I don’t think that “Lady” is much better in that respect- it makes me think of “tea lady”, which d…[Read more]

I just found this and it says everything I wanted to say but hadn’t the words
Although I don’t quite agree that NO ONE could replace him, I am wholeheartedly behind the rest of the article.
Hope this computes.

At a quick glance, feeings appear mixed. I shall read all posts later. Good to see that the /my Doctor is still on the title page, at least until after the Christmas special.

@glasgowboy: I second that. What a flippin; disaster!
@jimthefish: Well, he Kris marshall, isn’t to blame for bad choices is he. The role (apart from PC) was made for him. Unlucky 13 mayhap?
@exfan: Now that’s where we part. Peter Capaldi was the best, and I’m certainly not an EX fan.
@mirime: I did see her in B…[Read more]

Like you I have liked all four Doctors of the new series, but Peter Capaldi is the best of the lot.
Of the Classic series, William Hartnell, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were the best – in my opinion of course.

May I add my congratulations to that of Thane and Puro.
Our childrens friends are astonished that my OH and I are still together after 50 years! so I can see thane’s point.
Hope it was a great party.

Can an actor who has already playd the Doctor, play him again? I liked DT, I liked all of them, but if PC was staying, I’d like it even more.

@serahni: Not to worry about spoilers, it happens.
I’m with you about Rose, but I should liked to have seen more of Bill.
@sabesjt98: Hey, they are Time Lords, they can do anything. As for Kris Marshall, we will have to agree to disgree.
He would be perfect in the role. He can be, clumsy, silly, funny, writes on bits of paper,…[Read more]

@nerys: MISSY: Well, we thought we might chuck you off the roof, but I wasn’t sure how many regenerations you had left.
MASTER: Yeah, we could have been up and down the stairs all night.
That is my favourite conversation too. I posted this a while ago, but the wording was wrong.

@winston: Nothing could overshadow Peter Capaldis work on this show or his finale , his Doctor has been wonderful and mysterious and sad and brave and way too many more things to mention. I will miss the 12th.
Same here. To me he was the perfect Doctor, and there is only one actor (that I can think of at the moment) who will come close. Kris Ma…[Read more]

@thane15: I think Rose and 9 -and then 10, and the way it planned out (with all the ‘snogging’) was what was needed at the time. Without it, maybe the show would’ve fallen out of favour?
But yeah, sketchy maybe? But it worked -for me.
Me too, I loved rose.

I have just finished listening to “Rogue Herries” on BBC 4. What a story. I was in my early teens when I read this book, and still found it enjoyable. They did make a film of it a few decades ago, but it would be interesting if the BBC brought out another updated series.
