Well you all seem pleased! Frankly me and my OH are not! We don’t like Tunrbull, never have and we aren’t celebrating in our house.
Most politicians are liars, promise one thing do something else.
This country has had 5 PM’s in 5 years, would you call that stable? It’s beginning to resemble the Continent – Italy isn’t it? Like a bleedin’ revolving door.
I wonder how long it will be before the public in general, and the Liberal party start moaning about JT and they do it again? Hardly promotes confidence in other countries does it.
Anyway, that’s my opinion. I’d rather vote for The Doctor. *big grin*Regards,
Missy

Thank you puro. Your advice helped a lot.

10 September 2015 at 04:30 #42481This has nothing to do with the Doctor – well, there were two episodes with Matt Smith – and this seems to be the place to post.
How exciting about the find at Stone Henge. Have all of you read about it?
Missy
10 September 2015 at 04:22 #42480Yes, I’ve read a few of his Young Adult Disc World books, and enjoyed them.
10 September 2015 at 04:08 #4247910 September 2015 at 04:07 #4247810 September 2015 at 03:56 #42477Frankly I love all the episodes in Series 8, as well as Capaldi as the Doctor. However, the odd episode I watch less, The forest and Kill the Moon being two of them, but I certainly don’t dislike them either.

Missy
10 September 2015 at 03:51 #42476Trying to catch up here. *grins* I love cryptic crosswords, also cryptograms which I print out.
Missy
10 September 2015 at 03:49 #42475You have my sympathies too. Just over a year ago, I too was infested with the trojan virus – no fire wall *duh*
I was put on to TechBuZZ and they sorted me out. didn’t lose anything, didn’t have to re-install anything, they did it all. Cost a bit, but it has been worth it. Any time I see a problem,. I contact them.

Missy

I am so sorry not to have answered the above posts. It was not my intention to be rude.
Not being on here every day, posts pile up. Also when I receive notifications and click on one, I lose the rest. Obviously I’m doing something wrong? HELP!Regards with apologies,
Missy
4 September 2015 at 11:11 #42347Never having read Radcliff I cannot comment. But Gaskill is probably one of the most boring writers I’ve tried to read.
Somewhere on here, Terry Pratchett was mentioned – can’t find where. Love him and have every Disc World book -for adults.@jimthefish Chabon and Franzen are new to me? I believe I’ve heard “The Book of Strange New Things”
Cheers

4 September 2015 at 11:04 #42346No, I don’t like the word verbose either, as I said, pretentious. Our English teacher pounded into us, that when writing, never use a long word, when a short word would do as well. she was right.
There are too many rules and regulations nowadays: don’t use “lly” words, don’t use “ing” words, it can stop a person writing freely – that only one “L”Dickens passion for calling his characters by daft names, is quite unique too. Has anybody read Barnaby Rudge?
I have all two volumes. A film was made i believe years ago, I think they should try again instead of all the usual adaptations.Missy

Thank you, saw your message.

Missy4 September 2015 at 07:03 #42339@alexm
Thank you for that.
Enjoyed the trailer Alex, but a female doctor doesn’t appeal to me.
Not that that signifies I suppose, I don’t like women playing football or rugby either.cheers,
Missy
4 September 2015 at 06:47 #42338Has anyone noticed, three names? Oswald, Oswin and Osgood?
Do they have a meaning I wonder?
I’m going to miss Osgood and her ventilator.
Cheers,
Missy
4 September 2015 at 06:43 #42337I enjoy Dickens, but can understand why some people don’t. He is wordy, or if you want to be pretentious “Verbose?”
Thing is, he was actually living in that century, saw all the poverty and misery. He’s like a news reporter of the time.
One could say that the Brontes and Elliot are a touch wordy too, Austen not so much.

There was talk that SM would leave DW soon, but never stop writing for Sherlock – as long as ‘the boys’ still wanted to take it on.
I’d rather he stayed for both and I agree, don’t forget RTD, but also Mark Gatiss. He brings a lighter colour to DW methinks.Cheers,
Missy
3 September 2015 at 11:52 #42314@Gunslinger.
Kill the Moon, is not a favourite of mine either.
Cheers,
Missy
3 September 2015 at 11:44 #42313Sorry, but I couldn’t find the Robot of Sherwood thread.
I felt that there was some wistfulness in his face, as if human contact and gratitude suddenly got to him. I found his hand touching where she had kissed him, poignant. It was probably the first time I was truly aware of how alone The Doctor really is.
Does that sound daft?Cheers,
Missy

Oh well, if that’s your attitude. *big grin*

I watched again last night, and still laughed a lot. Some of PC’s lines are hilarious.
“And has anyone punched you in the face when you’ve said that?” “Six months in your case.”
‘Shut up Hoodie.’ “an ornamental plant stand,” and Robin’s reaction. “Stop laughing and I’m totally against bantering.” To mention a few. It’s the way he delivers those lines.
One scene I found very touching. The village girl who thanks the Doctor, kisses his cheek and his reaction.
Rather moving I thought. One wonders what he was thinking about.Missy

Oh dear! And there’s me thinking I was the chosen one! *rolls eyes*
I add my thanks.

30 August 2015 at 08:51 #42180It’s taken me long enough, but this is – to my mind – the funniest episode of the series.
Peter Capaldi excelled himself and had me chuckling for most of the 45 minutes.
The Robot Knights were terrific, those faces. I hope we see them again.
Cheers

30 August 2015 at 08:47 #4217930 August 2015 at 08:45 #42178Many thanks Narvin. Thing is, I understand the first part of your message, but not the last part. *frowns*
The Bluetooth thingy I could manage, but my OH’s mobile is basic, we can’t download anything on to it.
Oh well, thank you anyway.

Many thanks for the info puro.
I shall be ready with my leek soup, animal shaped fruit gums for afters and breath bated.
Frankly I like all music from DW, but Rose’s theme, Gallifrey, Mat Smith’s theme and this Doctor’s theme are my favourites.
21 sleeps.

30 August 2015 at 08:32 #4217629 August 2015 at 06:29 #42116Some really interesting ideas here. Thanks to all of you.
Time is dragging.
My nails are taking right bashing, down to the quicks!
You will doubtless get series 9 before us – as usual.
Cheers,

29 August 2015 at 06:25 #42115Yes, I live down under – no worries, she’ll be right! *grins*
We’re Londoners, but have lived here a looong time.
I told my OH that if I had a mobile (which I haven’t)I’d have the Tardis sound as a ring tone.
Can you imagine the looks I’d get.29 August 2015 at 06:20 #42114I knew you’d say that. what a shame.
My OH built me a 2ft high Tardis. Painted it, put on all the stickers, light at the top which goes on. plug lights up inside when you open the door – all I need now is the NOISE! Boo Hoo!Thanks anyway,
Cheers,
Missy

I think that “Listen’ is one of the best episodes yet. Fascinating to realise that some of the Doctor’s fears,
were explained to him by Clara when he was a child.
I can still feel the goose pimples which broke out on my arms, when she heard the man say that the boy crying in the bed would never make a Time Lord, and Clara’s wide eyed comprehension of where she was and who the boy was. Classic.
The one thing which puzzles me, is the plastic soldier Dan? Given to Rupert in the Home by Clara, returned to her by Orson Pink as an heirloom. She then leaves it with the young Doctor in the barn?
Enigmatic? Or is it me?Missy

Memory worms?
What are they?
Who are you?
Where am I?Wish I was wherever, whoever, they are. *big grin*

28 August 2015 at 11:19 #42082Damn! I’m in Australia and all I want is the sound of the Tardis. as ‘the moment’ says, “that wheezing, groaning.”

You’re right about Kris Marshall, but at times he does come over as slightly mental, which isn’t a bad thing, look at Matt Smith.
Ben Millar my personal choice of the two, he was very amusing in Death in Paradise and hilarious in Robot of Sherwood – without actually trying.
Anyhow, long live Peter Capaldi.
cheers
Missy
26 August 2015 at 06:35 #4205226 August 2015 at 05:47 #42046I was thinking. who would you all like to be the new Doctor?
Ben Miller or Kris Marshall would get my vote, both of whom were in Death…or was it Murder…in Paradise.
Both of them are somewhat eccentric and young enough to take the strain.
What say you?
Cheers,
Missy
26 August 2015 at 05:44 #4204525 August 2015 at 09:45 #42039Kill Clara to save the doctor? Interesting idea and a thing that SM would do.
Capaldi’s Doctor has always come over (to me at least) as more human than the other three, with all the elements which make us up.He seems so unsure of himself at a times, and yet manages to to seem completely assured. In fact he’s more complex than the other Doctors.
That say the rest of you?
Cheers
Missy
25 August 2015 at 09:39 #42038To one who was in at the start (1963) I would begin at the beginning of Series 1 (2005)with Eccleston and Billie Piper. It’s a roller coaster journey and well worth it.
Cheers

23 August 2015 at 09:19 #4200623 August 2015 at 09:13 #42005PS. I did get the information from Google, so it’s a bit of a worry.

23 August 2015 at 09:12 #42004I do hope you are right janette and I think your idea of a mid series is a good idea.
SM and MG wrote a special Sherlock to keep the Sherlockians (of which I am one)happy, so why not Doctor Who?
Or have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick.Cheers,
Missy
23 August 2015 at 06:46 #42002Sorry, sorry. Sorry sorry – as the Doctor would say. I posted on the wrong thread.
PC must stay for at least 2 more series ……….PLEASE! The waiting is bad enough, but to hear, or rather read, that both PC and SM could be leaving the series, is quite frankly a nightmare!
I am not happy. Not happy at all!Missy
