Having a smaller budget than with Disney+ has nothing to do with the Tenth Doctor story Midnight. It’s obvious to me that the BBC had overspent with stories produced earlier that year, so then they decided to produce the story Midnight. To sum up, I think this story is totally crap, taking place mainly inside some kind of bus…[Read more]

Yes, I’ve seen a couple of YouTube videos on this very subject. RTD’s statement is pretty equivocal, but I am expecting Who to be offscreen for at least two years.

Interestingly RTD also posted somewhere about all the speculation around Billie Piper’s role, mentioning several of the theories found on this very board, so maybe he is…[Read more]

@janetteb     You are so right. RTD could get so many great story ideas from us. I love Rose, she is the first companion in the first Who I ever watched and I was gutted when she left although happy that she got her own Doctor. Billie Piper could be anyone and I would be pleased.

I just felt that she seemed so happy and saying hello to who? It…[Read more]

@nerys  So  we will have a 16th Doctor who looks like Rose and the 14th Doctor who looks like the 10th around at the same time? The possibilities for bonkers theories are endless.

Maybe we need these two to be together to face the Boss, whoever that is.  Maybe the Boss is someone from 10 and Rose’s time together and that is why the Doctor ch…[Read more]

That was more a comment on Chibnall’s previous Who tendencies. I did try Broadchurch. Was mainly watching Scandinoir at the time, itself pretty flawed. So, on the one hand my comment was a cheap shot, imagining what Chibnall might have done with Who (depending on The Corp). But I can’t really say what I saw convinced me that Chi…[Read more]

the behaviour of Byron and his associates was slanted

There was a part where Byron hid in fear behind one of the other, female(?), characters and it really jarred with me. IRL Byron (Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know, per the famous quote) saw some military service in the Greek war of independence from the Ottoman Empire, so…[Read more]

Yet more American interference in British institutions! First it was Trump and Musk, now it’s The Onion. How dare they!
(OK, to be serious for a moment, I got a good laugh out of it. Well done Onion.)

Chibnall had it in him to write a good episode. Exhibit A: “Eve of the Daleks”

Yes. Eve, along with Diodati and Fugitive are, for me at least, the best three of the Chibnall run. Interestingly, two of those were co-written which tells its own tale.

I think the appearance of the Tardis with the Jo Martin Doctor was simply an egregious mistake on the part of Chibbers. One of many.

Will hold off on a more detailed response, as the annual marathon in my town that starts and concludes about a block from where I live is coming to its conclusion, and the ones coming in last are the ones…[Read more]

Yes, the story of the Doctor’s origins as the Timeless Child was first related to her by the Master, as was the first mention of the Division by name, and if that were all, it might be possible to dismiss the whole thing as a lie; an invention on his part to get back at her and justify his genocidal actions. The problem is that everything…[Read more]

@nerys. I am doing the same, reading spoilers. I do love spoilers. I did not watch the final chibnell series. I gave up at the destruction of Gallifrey but I think there is every possibility the Master was lying. After all I wouldn’t trust anything that he/she says, ever. they are not know for their honesty. @nerys  @ps1l0v3y0u      It also threatens the New Zealand movie industry,  depending on the details of exactly what is going to be sanctioned, er, tariffed.    Probably tRump has no idea how he’s going to implement it.   Typical tRump, misses the target but causes the maximum collateral damage all over the place.

Short term it will harm the fi…[Read more]

The best all-American movie I have seen recently is the wonderfully funny (and strangely prophetic) “Idiocracy” (2006).

Surely, according to his logic, we should be penalising Hollywood?

Perhaps the elect have had enough of efficient well trained British thesps what with their manageable egos, professional timekeeping and mysterious accents. The villains need to be less sympathetic.

Just de-lurking from Rarotonga where I’ve been for 4 days; another 3 weeks to go. (Weather’s been OK, typical Raro which is to say unpredictable but generally warm. @thane16 and @nerys. I have yet to watch season 2 of Wolf Hall but have read all the books so am really looking forward to it. It is a well worn story, as Nerys says, but H.M. manages to make it fresh and interesting and the acting and direction is as excellent as one would hope, though no longer expect sadly. .
