hey everyone how are you all π
Its great to be at the same level as everyone again after many many years, like were all going into this new Series together π
I watched The Halloween Apocalypse on T.V. last night as it aired and I think its a great opener, yes some areas are still slightly wonky like the Doctor questioning a lot but were improving, the humor was great, amazing spectacles/visuals especially with the Crystal Skull guy (I think he is awesome and very scary and his sister is more cheeky scary), it all was sweet and felt kinda like The Tennant era in a way.
I dont think the plot was confusing but that may just be me, we have lots to learn which is nice I am very looking forward to the next ep.
I like that Yaz is questioning the Doctor like she is losing hope in her I think the dynamic between them two is gonna be good π
I like that the big disaster seems to have links to many time periods and hopefully we see how they play with each other in a very interesting way.
I love the Dog guy Man’s Best Friend after all π his ship looks epic too like we used to have in Doctor Who π
I like Vinder a funny and cool character π
The Classic Sontan’s updated look I wasn’t a fan (grew up on the modern look and to sort of combine them didnt appeal to me) but it was fun to see them scheming and enjoying war and the main one on the ship played his role very well pretty interested to see what they do next.
Many of the actors were good like John Bishop as Dan and the guy in charge of the Mines π things feel natural in the way they act π
I could go on but really sweet for the first ep π
8/9-10

18 October 2021 at 00:39 #72222hey everyone π
first off all thank you @dentarthurdent for your thoughts on my idea , I agree with your points that making The Doctor look like the enemy for a long time may = bad unless done really well for like important reasons.
I think I will leave it there for now cause maybe I have other things to say about it but I am not entirely sure which sounds silly but its just a feeling ever since I say your response.
In other news I finally decided to watch the new Doctor Who trailer and wanted to talk about it a little , spoilers in case you are planning to go into the Series with fresh eyes π
I think some of the aliens looked a bit off, not soo much the new ones cause most are pretty interesting and we haven’t seen them before so to us thats just what we have to go on looks wise however The Odd’s face looks off especially the eyes and The Sontaran’s look a bit mis-molded I know they are the classic ones but still its not quite right I think.
The second new person in the trailer (the women with the hat) bothers me, you think its a women and 99% sure thats the case but her voice sounds like a man and I dont know whats going on there, is the way she sounds an accent I dont know of ? even still some accents dont really change they way you sound in your native dialogue and biological gender.
I hope I have explained that well not trying to offend anyone.
I like many of the new aliens and the battle looks cool π
Some theories I have –
I think the black sort of dust escaping the skull guy’s eyes are the Vashta Nerada just after feeding which would be awesome π
Everyone is saying something called ‘The Swarm’ is important and maybe thats what we see around the planet (in the trailer) , or it could be the death particle spreading even through time cause of Time Lord Technology like the ‘its bigger on the Inside’ prison ship for the Daleks but I really think that perhaps it is millions of Vashta Nerada finding a new place to feed or forests to raise their young, just thought the Vashta Nerada hunt in swarms and the does seem to be a planet with trees around it but everything looks all toxic so maybe the forest is dying perhaps the Sontarans have started another breeding ground cause of the war effort not going well and have made this planet toxic which is damaging the Vashta Nerada breeding ground plus its kinda a jab at cleaning up The Planet which seems like something important Chris Chibnall will draw our attention to π
The Doctor sometimes say times in flux I think The 10th and The 11th Doctor have said that at points so mayby thats what this big story is about and anything can happen as the fabric of reality or the Void wall breaks down like in Series Two and so all these aliens and wars are molding together and time is breaking or like the proper time line is breaking.
Admittedly I have only seen two video discussion but I am surprise I haven’t heard anyone suggest the blue crystal skull guy is The Master, is it just me ?
First of all his voice really sounds like him, two his appearance could be cause of the effects of The Death Particle (or The Vashta Nerada at a stretch) and mayby he started regenerating but he couldn’t full heal cause of the effect of it.
3 The TimeLord CyberMen are back which he made and they listen to him.
Small 4 or d or the little hyphen haha just using that little joke from Voyage of The Dammed even if its a bit improvised from memory The Master always loves a big stand off with The Doctor preferably in the mist of a battle raging near them, the big scale war/ending his just his cup of Tea π
And yes there are other blue crystal skull people but mayby they were attacked by The Vashta Nerada too or The Master created or experimented on them like he did with Toclafane in Series 3 , again seems like his cup of Tea π
I keep looking at the trailer while I am typing this so not to miss or forget things and I saw 2 discussion vids and one said there may be different time periods for this event and I am really seeing that not just like visually but the Victorian looking women who says ‘its happening again’ and then you have characters from other time periods it seems I really do think this ‘event’ or the idea of it like maybe a way of life for some species is happening or happens through out many centuries
The Doctor has said The Sontarans have been fighting the Rutans for ten’s of thousands of years maybe we are seeing some of that through these time periodsΒ and the other aliens are helping either party and maybe its the big day where Victory may be had for one side and perhaps The Doctor is trying to find peace for both sides.
The Doctor does say ‘we dont have any more time’ maybe they dont have any more time periods to jump into to solve this war and are facing the big day or The Tardis has been shut down as the discussion vids said The Doctor and Companions may be on Gallifrey.
Dan seems funny π
I know everyone is saying that fluffy guy looks like Chewy hehe π but I hope he is a funny or cool character and not just a joke cause the more I see him the more I am intrigued and like him just wanna hug him after all the fighting, hugs to you my friend π
As you can all tell I started off by saying I will speak a little about what I thought of the trailer and then it carried on into a movie plot itself as my ideas kept running haha π I now know that feeling of speculation buzz and joy and its wonderful hope you all enjoy the next Series and we will all have lots of fun talking and complaining about it as usual haha π
Take care everyone hugs and kisses π

14 October 2021 at 16:49 #72209hey everyone π how are you all
Just a quick thought I had , what if we had a Doctor Who Series from the perspective of the aliens and we see their plans ect and how to them The Doctor is ruining everything , mayby we have many types of aliens through the Series and some that are looked down upon or weaker threats to The Doctor , now we the audience dont like The Doctor and when he regenerates at the end of the Series it wont be a sadness this time it will be a triumph from our and the aliens view, I think that would be a really cool though sort of classic story telling way to twist and make the regeneration impactful but celebratory.
What do you all think about it and would it still be Doctor Who ? π

11 October 2021 at 23:19 #72189hey @PenelopeGates , I understand you want the best for him and like for him to connect with others, not sure if there are many people around his age on this forum but maybe its worth a try to connect him with the community here (we are all really friendly with lots of Doctor Who passion) and see how that goes.
Obviously everyone is different, if it was me I would have loved this community when I was younger just as much as I love it now but that face to face connection with others who share his passion is still really important to have soo keep trying and encourage him with that but there is always room here just like in The Tardis for a Doctor Who lover π

8 October 2021 at 16:35 #72168hey @dentarthurdent I think by them waiting and monitoring her brain it implies they know it has to stay in Reinette’s head for it to develop but as you say its a bit unclear if they realize what chopping off her head would do to her and if they care about that, mayby its not their fault since its not in their function to care about people or what life means they are just adapting by harvesting the parts of the crew to fix the ship.
I am glad we are having this conversation and I hope I am not coming across as tearing your ideas apart π
Regards – Declan Sargent
8 October 2021 at 14:02 #72166hey @dentarthurdent oh I must have missed them mentioning there was two ships thank you for highlighting that to me π , my idea is just an idea but it could still fit even with what you say, the Mother ship lets say could have been built over time by the original robots or the ship of the crew that maybe took them in, at some point the Sister ship which could be the original is lost to them through eons.
Its like with game consoles lets say you have the ps3 as the original, then you update it with the ps4 but you dont have to kick out the ps3 if its still useful however over time it could get lost or forgotten like the original ship.
When re watching the ep my interpretation of why they need Madame De Pompadour’s brain complete and are waiting is partly cause they believe she is the key to their ship cause its related to her in various ways anyone could discuss like we have but I think they just need the brain like fully wired its not the shape of it she’s 29 ish or something when they begin the invasion to take her, the brain stops psychically growing when your 18-20 but you can still form new neuron connections all through your life it just gets tougher when your older thats way its easier to learn a skill when your young like learning a language or instrument cause they brain is more flexible and adaptable.
I think they are waiting for Madame De Pompadour’s brain to have enough neuron connections and to be basically fully formed stable lets say to ‘drive’ their spaceship or tell them how to fix things as their central control.
Some creatures dont have a brain and you can take away half your brain for medical reasons such as treatment for epilepsy if your very young like 3 years old and you’ll be alright in your life cause the brain can adapt as the Doctor says The Brian is the most powerful thing in the universe so I reckon Madame De Pompadour’s brain will be capable to use as the central control unit or whatever in their ship when she is old enough especially as she seems to have telepathic abilities which may need time to develop and provide additional storage capacity or something for their ship’s central control unit.
Overall a really fun and lovely ep with many strands we can discuss π

8 October 2021 at 10:05 #72164hey @dentarthurdent lovely review as usual π
I love that The Doctor hints to knowing the ‘robot’s’ from somewhere but since he has newly regenerated he can’t quite pin it, well they are the ‘robot’s or the same model from Girl In The FirePlace which I have recently watched.
I love this cool detail it makes the world feel connected and I like to think they are the original landing on Earth or starting in the Victorian Era, maybe The Doctor didn’t stop them all as I dont know what the ‘promised land’ is so some could have survived and trying to locate their leader in the promised land they used technology of the area or future tech to build their spaceship or mayby they were picked up by the crew as like working robots and we sort of catch up with their story in GITFP as they are running out of parts to fix their ship which may be traveling to the ‘promised land’ like the robots in Robot of Sherwood and since the Computer is very damaged they have become lost.
Yes some parts may not work with GITFP like why the Ship is named after Madame De Pompadour perhaps the crew were her ancestors and named it after her and the robots were integrated into the system so thought Madame De Pompadour was key to their ship but their overall mission was reaching the Promised Land, what do you all think of this idea π

3 October 2021 at 20:21 #72140hey everyone π I have been going through a few eps in Series 2 today very interesting watches and new perspectives , series 2 gets a lot of flack cause of eps like Love and Monsters ect but I dont think its overley deserved.
I watched Girl In The Fireplace then Love and Monsters and just finished watching Fear Her π
GITFP was really nice to experience again now with sort of fresh eyes, yes I know whats gonna happen on a general level from reviews ect but it was great getting the full picture π the mystery of it all especially the at the start was really nice.
It must be an amazing ep on first watch , loved the little details like how the camera was framed on the ‘robot’ when Rose was waking up and her blurred vision started fixing on the ‘robot’ very intimidating in a fresh way too π
Loved the little touches like the crew’s body parts being part of the ship, the broken clock (that scared me soo much when I was young π ) and the ship being named after her lots of speculation can occur π
Lots of funny and great lines like – ‘yeah well I am The Lord of Time’ , ‘I’ve come to fix the Clock’ , ‘The Doctor and the Monsters, seems you cant have one without the other’
The ending was sad I nearly cried as the full experience hit me especially with the lovely yellow glow in the Palace and the bond between The Doctor and Madame De Pompadour soo sweet and clever , its a clear as day why he really liked her and wanted to travel with her even in the slow lane π
LnM was very eye opening it was just fun sweet and a great way to show an ep like through Elton’s monologues/filming π
Elton was a great great character very funny and sweet, I would love it if he becomes a companion in the future
The ending was a bit wack we could cut some of that out and it would be lovely, I feel like the ep should have ended just before Ursula spoke to Elton in the room.
The alien’s human form Victor Kennedy was actually very cool yes weird and scary as usual but a character with depth even though he just wants the Doctor but who doesnt haha π
Loved the music in the ep especially Mr Blue Sky π
Everything was soo fun just fix a few parts like the weird ending and its much better than its reputation π
FH was pretty nice to sort of cool things down after the other two eps , The Doctor seemed off quite a bit and the Council guy really grasped information he shouldn’t trust soo easily or even know about from like a linear point like how does he knows certain things if nobody told him or he knows where to be but again its a bit like jumping through hoops.
Yes all that sounds like I hate the ep but I just wanted to get down the wonky parts before I forget, on the other halfΒ Β a lot of things made sense for example why the creature is alone and what that means for it and everyone on the street, Chloe’s fear of her Father showing up in her nightmares even long after he has passed.
I liked Rose’s determination at times and her working out the solution.
Not sure what else to say I just liked the ep a lot more than previously and its kind of an ep to just watch and relax you know, there is more I could say but I think hearing others thoughts on it will help me focus my thoughts π
GITFP –Β 10/10
LnM – 8/10
FH – 7/10

3 October 2021 at 19:36 #72139The episode is called Arc of Infinity , I think its a pretty cool ep , havnt seen it in a while and it didnt stand out to me as much as other 5th Doctor eps I have seen so far mayby cause it was slow in places ect but the ideas are interesting I think and yes its cool that you seen Colin Baker in the ep π

I was just wondering if anyone wanted to ‘watch’ some Doctor Who with me tomorrow , feel like I need the company but dont feel forced if your busy
Thank you

20 September 2021 at 16:46 #72067hey @dentarthurdent I completely agree about Billy , he lived a full life and in my view he is not an important character or anything , important to Sally but for Doctor Who no
My friend saw this cool as ice flirt and got annoyed that they took his character out even though he had a sweet ending in the Hospital so for my friend his love of cool Billy Shipton ruined the ep and mayby Doctor Who in general as he hasn’t watched many eps since which is disappointing but all of us here know what he is missing out on π
Regards – Declan Sargent
20 September 2021 at 14:57 #72063hey @aidan
There are many great parts/elements that make Midnight a really cool and popular ep but to pick the high points the ep is really great at building fear , there is fear of the unknown , its scary how Powerless The Doctor is and he doesn’t know what the enemy was , fear of people like these nice holiday makers start turning on each other and you see the destructive side of humanity when they lash out cause of fear , the whole environment is really claustrophobic and the syncing of dialogue and the aliens powers are really unsettling.
Regards – Declan Sargent
19 September 2021 at 19:29 #72061hey everyone I was just thinking about The Sarah Jane Adventures and all the cool aliens they have , Doctor Who is like the big cheese lets say haha and then you have like spin off’s like The Sarah Jane Adventures , TorchWood and now Class
Do you think there are limits to which elements you can take from them and inject into Doctor Who , I am thinking about the cool aliens at the moment but there are other dynamics and things to bear in mind , should they be separate from Doctor Who as much as possible or not for instance ?
Regards – Declan Sargent
19 September 2021 at 19:19 #72060hey everyone its soo lovely to see soo much discussion π
hey @aidan welcome to the Forum π I hope you like it here and take a look around π
About what eps to introduce your friend to I tried Blink with my friend cause everyone recommends that for a introduction ep and it was a bit more horror like which suited my friend however Billy Shipton stuffed up their enjoyment of the ep cause he died pretty much so its not always a guarantee just see what your friend likes and try to match it to an ep or many , and mayby have some diverse eps like so they see the range Doctor Who has π

12 August 2021 at 16:12 #71957hey @dentarthurdent thank you π
Yes I havnt really seen the ep where he is back hut Rassilon was better on his first come back in New Who , I watched a bit of classic Who were it was Time Lord focused and it was pretty cool there a lot of extra lore you can find through these eps not just the obvious π
It was pretty cool when The Master got his revenge and crushed Rassilon and his group and locked them back in The Time War π
Again I havnt seen the ep just clips but the new Rassilon wouldn’t he be happy with The Doctor for saving them in the 50th Special he seems very cross with 12th is there a reason for that.
Regards – Declan Sargent
12 August 2021 at 09:36 #71955This is cool and helps certain parts for me like the not fair bit that was cool but now I can see it in a new light with The Time Lord Victorious allowing him freedom to do whatever but ‘its not fair’ after centuries of abiding to the Rules of The TimeLords when it hurt him as he couldn’t save people and stop massive history events when thats finally gone from him its too late and the ending part for me where he says ‘I dont wanna go’ I find that much better now and it fits him really well.
Who knew on a Thursday Morning thinking about how annoying an ep is could lead to a new found discovery that fixes major issues in it and boosts my appreciation for the big elements that dragged it down for soo many years in my mind, yes there are other annoying or wonky bits but I am glad I have fixed the ending cause thats the bit where fate gets locked in which really really bugged me before and now I can like it yay π
Regards – Declan Sargent
12 August 2021 at 09:24 #71954hey @dentarthurdent I like the fun elements but it the fate spinning and how The Doctor goes down really hurts my enjoyment of a story that isnt perfect even before all the pieces of the Doctor’s downfall start interlocking.
Mayby 10 deserved better or mayby something like saving Wilf a major hit to his new ego is what he needed.
I thought just recently the ‘I dont wanna go part’ is better than I ever thought before –
If you look at Ten he lost Donna and a lot of his other friends but you seem him in the Specials like Planet of The Dead where he is having fun and The Next Doctor he fixes a broken man and is praised on Christmas by everyone and then Time Lord Victorious kicks in at some point (not sure the ep order) and that boosts his ego and desire to survive and change things that was locked away to him morally cause of The Time Lords no interfering Policy but it all ends when he has to save one old human man a normal person after surviving soo much even The TimeLords who were back and could have punished him for his reckless behavior but no he survives them and yet has to sacrifice his life and the time he could have had to do whatever he wants for an old man.
The ‘I dont want to go’ isnt said angry because I think the sadness of having that freedom to do what he likes and have fun again which has been snuffed out from him is soo very tragic especially for his character, its wanting to experience life when your suddenly at the end that’s why he is sad about going compared to his other incarnations he was the one who could have had and done it all but fate (hehe I am starting to find many places for this word) cut him down, he said to Wilf he knew he was going to die soon but when he thought he had overcome his enemies after The Master stopped Galifary from coming back he gets up knock knock knock knock and bang there is Wilf and fate is locked he didn’t escape it not even Time Lord Victorious can escape their own fate .
Regards – Declan Sargent
11 August 2021 at 14:35 #71950* There should be a comer , between locking up The Master safely and when jumping
Also gone to The Tardis to escape better at the point after knocking out The Master
I just wanted to fix a few sentence errors so its makes more sense π
Regards – Declan Sargent
11 August 2021 at 14:27 #71949hey @dentarthurdent
I totally agree I love Wilf but the way in which The Doctor efficiently lost cause of having to rescue Wilf from the Radiation Chamber is very annoying and if I think about it I can trace back (even if your not meant to) all the key like turning points that led to this;
The fact the Doctor used up his matching receptical either cause he was distracted by seeing Rose again or its part of fate that Cann set up which if its up to fate is very annoying cause Cann know there would be two Doctors so even this random event/accident in the street seems tied to fate.
The Doctor being reckless, examples such as walking straight up to The Master who shots him at one point with the lighting powers, not tieing or locking up The Master safety when jumping through the glass ceiling from like 50ft lets say when he could have dropped from a lower height also couldn’t he have gone to The Tardis at that point to escape better.
There’s more examples if I think about things but I dont want to ramble on, so mostly a lot of fate and reckless/not thinking things well all leads to The Tenth Doctors end which is soo annoying partly cause you dont want him to go and partly cause you see the pieces that lead to it and like with The Tardis idea you can think of ways round it The Doctor didnt
Remember that quote by River in A Good Man Goes To War ‘He will rise high, higher than he has ever done before and then fall so much further’ feels like that for all The Tenth Doctor faced and beat and then to end this way I know its like the tragic hero but it still really hurts and is annoying.

I got my school exam results yesterday (its a little over midnight now) so thats the big development currently, been struggling to pick eps to watch and been doing other things in the mean time as we, so I might slowly engage more with you all (got lots to read through on here) glad your all happy and talking to each other π mayby I need my Doctor Who friends far more than before, been lots of ups and down and its nice that if I am welcome (cause I ramble and sometimes leave for weeks) I can talk with you all π
Little talk piece to get things going I find helpful – what thing or element/theme occurred in an ep or maybe a two parter for instance that really bugs you, for example in Classic Who the way Adric (spoilers in case) dies in a sort of domino effect starting from the greed of the Captain and you just watch the pieces fall in place like destiny really bothered and annoyed me through the ep, same could be said when Wilf was in the box, I don’t remember if he had a certain amount of time but couldn’t The Doctor find another solution and again its like locked in fate really bugs me sometimes.

27 May 2021 at 12:11 #71714hey everyone π
On the Sofa I mentioned considering writing a Doctor Who story or ep with the Cybermen (more details can be found there) and I just had a light bulb idea;
Like Captain Jack and Sam Swift what if more things could be immortal/indestructible, imagine The Doctor made a planet immortal, it can be mined, extremely old or lost from its origin but it survives it can not be fully destroyed, maybe has a healing factor (like Wolverine) and chunks of it re grow, maybe its alive like the Sun in The Rings of Akhaten ect anyway its indestructible though many groups have tried to destroy it time and time again.
As time goes many of these groups realize the planet is immortal and so its used for conflicts, wars and experiments like what happens to a planet if nuclear war occurs and black holes exist ect and this planet could be an origin of the CyberMen, their planet is ruined by war, experiments, invasion and environmental effects time and time again so they keep finding ways to survive and become CyberMen, in a way The Doctor is responsible for creating them.
Maybe this planet idea would be better for a full book separate from Doctor Who but who knows could be a cool way to flesh out The CyberMen and The Doctor’s impact on others.
I look forward to anyone’s ideas or discussion on this.
Thank you π

24 May 2021 at 16:27 #71709hey everyone π
I have been thinking about writing my own Doctor Who Story (like a book) or story like an ep , I dont want to show off or take everyone’s ideas just looking for a few tips
I have been writing my own Sci Fi story (book) for a while now but its different from Doctor Who and I wonder if there are themes to stick too ect
I am going to write about the Cybus design CyberMen and mayby place the story in Victorian times (like a book I have of them and The Christmas Special) or some future space time like Earthshock but going for planets ect not just stuck on a ship.
I could place this in Creative ideas section but I think it will be noticed more On The Sofa π
Thank you too anyone who helps out and feel free to write your own stories ect π
Take care everyone hugs π

23 May 2021 at 19:21 #71707hey Dr-Nao I just realized you said alien or planet landscapes, its funny when you read something but it doesnt quite click so prehaps my suggestions arent what you were looking for.
On the other hand from a positive angle I think the round building behind the CyberMen could easily be a spaceship or painted with some extra details or colors to make it look alien π
You could paint London Bridge the way it looked in Victorian times and Big Ben (mayby the Houses of Parliament too) could be the alien aspect of the painting π
I hope that helped π take care hugs π
Regards – Declan Sargent
23 May 2021 at 19:09 #71706hey Dr-Nao Welcome to The Forum , I hope you enjoy it here if you decided to stay π
I was thinking about your query (its a very sweet Birthday treat π ) and though I thought of the cliff-face in Castrovalva and picturing you two rock climbing I wasn’t sure if that interests you and mayby again the cliff-face is a bit bland though the castle like area on top of it is cool π
So I thought about images from these two classic and commonly discussed scenes, I hope you like it π
Take care hugs π

19 May 2021 at 10:45 #71701hey everyone π
I’ve just re watched Night Terrors (which I havnt seen in years) it was pretty nice, I hate dolls they just freak me but I didnt really feel scared this time around mayby I’ve grown up a lot cause fears can affect you for years, I actually found it comforting which you could say is an issue its meant to be a scary ep but the message about family no matter who you are I found more rewarding than the scary factor, The Doctor was great, Rory really shined ‘The Doctors in Eastenders Town and were in 1700’ haha π
The end yeah you could say bit typical when all the dolls stopped and I thought so too but then they went straight after George which was a nice re fresh of tension and his Dad saved him even though he is an alien π
Some funny characters like that old Women and when the trio tried to find the kid the reactions of the civilians and the trio getting rejected cause they are a bit weird was really good π
I always found the inside the Doll House interesting and Amy and Rory being soo confused of where they are with wooden pans and giant eyeballs in the draw hehe pretty unique setting π
The fact that George is an alien so his fears can be real and his main fear is being rejected (part of his species) all was a nice way of explaining what was going on π and is like any other kid just with alien powers π
The Dad was good, felt pretty genuine (cause he believed the Doctor pretty quick without slamming heads like with Craige) and clearly loved his son π
Good to see The Doctor super scared sometimes and a cupboard of all things so we wonder what could possibly be soo dangerous and scary for The Doctor π
I think the really quick cuts of people getting taken, the CGI of the man getting sucked into the floor (which I thought lasted longer or was scary being a bit off) and the lift door closing at rapid speed was a bit wonky and so I guess thats my only really issue with the ep
As I say its pretty comforting with good family messages and humor with a unique setting I didnt give this ep much credit in the past but maybe its a hidden gem π
9/10

13 May 2021 at 17:36 #71685hey everyone in my previous message I mentioned checking out the theories about The Lodger ep, I didn’t realize if you search ‘Doctor Who The Lodger Theories’ or ‘CaptainJimiPie’ it will likely appear at the top of the YouTube search bar so I warn you of spoilers if you don’t want to know about the main details of the theories before watching the Doctor Who ep The Lodger, thank you π

13 May 2021 at 17:29 #71684hey @dentarthurdent The Lodger ep is next for you, on re-watch yesterday it really struck me how good of an ep it is, I often check out reviews and sweet theories about it too π
The more I watch the ep from time to time the more I enjoy it so I skipped to Closing Time because its basically a sequel to The Lodger and it was pretty nice on re watch good to re fresh you know so a nice little package π
I hope you enjoy the first part (The Lodger) and check out the theories discussed by CaptainJimiPie before or after you watch The Lodger if you like π

29 April 2021 at 18:38 #71625hey everyone π , I did it I watched World Enough and Time and The Doctor Falls :0 π
Two very good eps I dont feel like knocking off points cause generally it all works, a cool story and ending to one of my now fav Doctors I am glad this is how he went out plus I love The CyberMen so very cool (I know he had another ep but I would be happy if he went out here) 10/10 for both.
Every ep has some issues, the main one I noticed here was a CGI Issue near the beginning of the first ep but you know what I dont really mind, mayby I would have liked a bit more time with The CyberMen being built ect and what that means like the gory details but the pace though slower at times made sense and when it really started kicking off it was amazing π
There was some nice jump scares and legit I jumped its great to have a dark and creepy tone in Doctor Who every now and then.
I loved the Masters interacting with each other (though I knew it was coming) it was far far better than I would have imagined, genuinely funny and complex my love of both of them grew in spades π
I really love the scene where they are on the balcony I was laughing soo much at the silliness and the perfect dialogue lovely π it may be one of my fav scenes in all of Who π
I loved how shocked and annoyed they get when The Doctor messes up their plan very smart too π
The CyberMen and the cloth ones were great, when they turn on The Masters it felt like zombies no matter how many you kill they will keep coming and surround you, very creepy and cool π
I loved Bill blasting another CyberMan to help the Doctor and holding the ship with one arm wow I didnt think these Mondasian CyberMen would be soo strong it was a great moment π
I loved all the time dilation and science things (I know a lot about Black Holes and Space things so very enjoyable) and everything looked very crisp and clean (apart from that one blimp whoops) the best of which was the outside shoots of the spaceship genuinely crisp, beautiful and epic love love love it π
I loved the idea of the CyberMen getting stronger and there being little time to stop them ect even the op Nightmare in Sliver CyberMen could be destroyed with a lot of super weapons which looked cool and phew that helped.
Its great that the CyberMen could spring up anywhere there is people sort of an inevitable path many will land on.
I loved all the CyberMen in this the fear factor and power of them is back yay π , I never liked the Mondasian ones much out of all CyberMen designs in old and new who but big surpirse this ep really boosted them and I really like them now especially the face mask which was a big problem I had with them before and its cool they have a sort of super strong laser gun with that light bulb lovely π
You really feel the hurt The Doctor is going through when he pleads to both Masters to help him and John Simm’s version straight up ‘I didnt listen to a thing’ ouch I would have punched him at that moment if I was The Doctor.
I love that both Masters are soo happy that stabbing each other in the back is the way they should go what a great way to end the character π , I feel like this was an ep with proper endings if a next series didnt happen which was cool.
Loved Nardole, Bill and The Doctor they had great lines, moments ect
I really love The Doctor carving down CyberMen in the Forest happy as can be in the moment saying all the places they have come from and where he has beat them, the determination and energy in that was amazing, everyone he loved has gone, trying so hard to fix Missy and have his friend back but failed in his eyes with the cost of turning Bill into a CyberMen who’s isolated and feared, whats The Doctor got left no wonder he through the rule book out have your last hoorah Doctor it felt very Logan when Wolverine (my fav) was in that forest both old and wounded fighting till the end beautiful scene and a lovely moment for The Doctor π
Soo much awesome things in the ep , I really loved Razor, I thought he is gonna be cheesy or not feel right from what people said about him but I really really loved him it would have been lovely if he was a proper character and not (spoilers) the Master in disguise cause you know there is a sinister motive there but I was genuinely starting to care and feel love for him and the way he acts, when Bill is about to be fully converted (if I didnt know) I would have thought he is genuinely trying to help Bill ‘strengthen’ her up so he is a very cool character and well played by John Simm the disguise is very convincing π
I loved the lighting, set designs, props ect in this ep everything was great but I remember that scene as I was saying where Bill was about to be converted and the jump scares of The Cloth CyberMen sitting there in the dark was terrifying and chilling and then that tall guy approaching Bill half in the dark with a creepy yet soothing voice and the Maid Women next to him who is very intimidating a brilliant scene.
I love the CyberMen repeating words over and over gain ‘pain’ ect its like they are human but CyberMen mixed through that as well as look cause its like the pre phase before we get ‘delete … delete … delete’ but with human feelings and I love the look of the face mask with tiny holes so they eyes can see its kinda cute but creepy at the same time.
I loved the Cloth CyberMen being hung up each day like scarecrows, its creepy and a good use of their look, you feel like its a video game wave after wave day after day they will be back to attack the house again even when you put them back.
I loved Nardole’s cheeky nature like when he was upgrading the weapons which was awesome by the way and he’s like ‘is that windmill importantΒ to you?’ then proceeds to blow it up to test the gun without a care in the world haha priceless
Bill was ofcourse great in this ep, her determination to wait for The Doctor, showing her knowledge and love of The Doctor ‘thats his planning face’ and her becoming friends with Razor over time π when she gets to grips around being a CyberMen she focuses on helping The Doctor even though he put her through this ‘knew it was a bad idea’ for over a decade she sticks with her friends π
P.S. I dont remember who sorry but someone mentioned a theory where the dial that turns up or down the audio of the cloth CyberMen’s voices is like the first inhibitor which I think is really cool π and plus the creepy guy said Bill will still feel pain but wont care so The Mondasian CyberMen have a primitive version of the emotionally inhibitor right I think small details and theories like that are really good for The CyberMen especially in these two eps cause it really is the progression of them in all aspects, there must have been problems with CyberMen having emotions between Mondasin and the newer versions and so that had to be placed in later versions π
I would have liked to see a few more CyberMen designs like The EarthShock ones which are up there with my fav classic look and mayby a Cyber Leader with the black handle bars but oh well every CyberMen in this was great, it was cool and funny seeing how they all differ from each other in the forest scene for example like how the Cybus CyberMen walk very robot like but the predecessors and successors are more fluid π
I love these eps the more if think about them, I said before watching them I am glad it looks like The Doctor would have a great final with an awesome CyberMan story and now I know it was incredible π

21 April 2021 at 12:52 #71614hey everyone π
This is my favorite to least favorite episodes from The Fifth Doctor’s first season (19) , I want to say overall this season is really good, the eps at the lower end are still really good eps but some things didn’t click or I couldn’t put them above others for slight reasons.
1 Kinda
2 Black Orchid
3 Time-Flight
4 Castrovalva
5 Four To Doomsday
6 The Visitation
7 Earthshock
P.S. The top 3 I am happy with in that order, I like Castrovalva more than Four To Doomsday but I struggled to place the later and the last two since I liked a lot of elements in the eps and the supporting characters really help.
The Visitation had a wonderful supporting character and other nice elements but I like Four To Doomsday more even though its a weaker ep for the fun element (like Black Orchid), it its quite cheesy especially how the bad guy was defeated and (spoilers) I like The Doctor pretending to watch the dances so he can tell people plans whilst Persuasion is suspicious but remains oblivious haha.
Earthshock had good supporting characters but somethings in the ep didnt click mayby cause I knew (Spoliers just in case) of Adric’s death so I was contently thinking what goes wrong cause it all seemed fine but the butterfly affect, greed and bad luck caused it all to go wrong.
IΒ just wanted Adric to save and prove himself another time, The Doctor kinda lead to Adric’s death as he said The Doctor makes people wanna try and Adric mentioned feeling like an outcast.
I love the CyberMen, they had some really nice moments, I really like them recalling how previous incarnations of The Doctor had beat them but overall IΒ expected more out of their invasion.
I like the fact The SpaceShip crashing into Earth is what ended The Dinosaurs, its sort of has to happen and I like the characters realizing that but Adric not knowing or thinking he can fix it tries soo hard and nearly alters events in time.
Though they are very interchangeable I have decided to put The Visitation above Earthshock, both have good elements but for reasons above Earthshock didn’t click, that may be a poor reason but its what I feel and think and if Four To Doomsday wasnt so fun The Visitation would be in 5th place.
If anyone wants a full reason I could say more of what I liked or not about some eps.

21 April 2021 at 09:19 #71613hey @dentarthurdent that was 8:37pm its now 9:17am if that helps π
I am really enjoying The Fifth Doctor’s first season I think a lot of people overlook some of the eps cause of Earthshock and The Visitation.

20 April 2021 at 20:39 #71611hey @dentarthurdent if I have got this right do you still have time to watch (you know what I mean) some Doctor Who with me today its 8:37 here if that helps and I am about to start Time-Flight so that may work time wise, let me know if this suits you.
Regards – Declan Sargent
20 April 2021 at 09:43 #71608hey @dentarthurdent what you imagined is correct I just wondered it as watch together sorry for the confusion, I think New Zealand is 12 hours ahead of England so we will have to work out a good time for both of us.
Regards – Declan Sargent
20 April 2021 at 03:04 #71606hey @macca I understand what you mean about watching the show get worse ect but for me its not bad or anything generally (though Series 6 and 7 are kinda the weak points generally) more recently with CapaldiΒ its been amazing π even Series 11 with Jodie I liked a lot.
I quess growing up on Series 3 and 4 was awesome and everyone says 4 is the best series which I think thats pretty fair but I am finding that Series 8 has some really nice eps too but most of all Series 10 for me so far is nearly perfect, yeah some eps are weaker than others but they are all still really nice and from Oxygen onwards (before the final cause I haven’t got there yet) its excellent π so I guess things can improve and there are lots of great Classic eps if your interested in that I put a link to them in a previous post of mine today π
hey @dentarthurdent that is lovely to hear mayby at 7 ish (if that suits you) would be a good time π I look forward to it and thank you for accepting to watch some Doctor Who with me I really appreciate that π
Take care everyone and stay positive hugs π

20 April 2021 at 00:56 #71603hey everyone π
This link https://olddoctorwho.com/ is where I have been watching Classic Who Today and I really recommend it π
I know I already said Kinda is one of my fav Fifth Doctor eps and generally Classic Who eps that I have seen so far which is still the case but on re watch my love of the ep grew a lot for instance I forgot how scary and unnerving this ep is especially part 2 and 3 I think it was.
First though I realized the Mire in The Girl Who Died are not The Mara in this ep or related to them in anyway I got the names slightly mixed up sorry everyone.
Spoilers though some may not count as such
Tegan’s dream sequences got really terrifying plus imagine if you were trapped in that woah I dont blame her for snapping and giving into the guy in the dream (Dukkha) he was soo chilling and his name in Buddhism means Doctor isnt that scary like ofcourse Tegan gives into him a sort of evil version of The Doctor (before the Black Guardians) and its like he knows far more about the dream place ect than those two people who he is in control of like his sort of trapped companies similar elements of The Doctor.
I also think Anicca (the other man in the dream place) is creepy cause his sort of square face and the way he turns to look at Tegan whilst his eyes try to keep up and roll in he seems harmless with a sort of cheeky grin but like dead at the same time and maybe playing chess with the Women (Anatta) is like playing with peoples lives very chilling.
Hindle and Actor Simon Rouse who played that character was incredible much much respect to him, I have not seen much Classic Who but even a lot of the New Who I am seen very few performances soo excellent, a lot of people say Harry Charles performance as Baines in Family of Blood is the best ever villain performance in all Doctor Who and that may be the case I agree his performance was amazing but I think in Classic Who the equivalent is Simon Rouse’s Hindle very powerful performance, you know The Doctor and Adric especially are pushing their luck the times they try to reason with Hindle.
I think the ep said the box sort of refreshed or reset his mind and so he is more mild again like a child even though when in power he had those child like elements (building the City out of boxes ect) and tempers very interesting.
In addition in the ep The Doctor and Todd (the Female Scientist who teams up with The Doctor) a very interesting character (played by Nerys Hughes) discover the truth about The Kinda and find out they are very intelligent and have powers like telepathy (which makes Aris even more scary when controlled by the Mara) and the box that heals people (even the mind) in a strange way amazing for what seems like ‘primitives’ but the really strange one I missed or forgot when I first watched Kinda is that (Spoilers) the old women sort of didn’t die because her memories and more strangely her self got transferred to the young girl she was so they sort of co exist like when Tegan’s had a double in the dream, its strange to think of these people with no tech or anything like that with such powers beyond what we know as normal, they must be a very powerful Species.
At later stages in the ep like when Hindle starts to really lose it after taking charge and the mention of the wheel or time crushing though anything in the way you really start to feel dread, isolation, helplessness and fear in the ep which I guess a lot if not all the characters experience a level of that;
Tegan trapped in that awful place, Hindle and Sanders losing their minds, The Doctor really struggling to gain control of the situation, Aris gaining and using voice to manipulation all his kind, outside help will arrive but what in 6 years so basically they are on their own whilst Hindle has a rule of tyranny threatening to kill The Doctor not even allowing Adric to walk the halls at the end to remain under his watchful eye like a prison, the Dome at risk of being blow up and killing everything in like 50 mile radius and Hindle having the power to make that happen and finding joy in that (mostly to prevent the trees ect from getting him which he fears deeply like a phobia) is disturbing crushing others hope in his child like enjoyment of destroying things, chaos and craving power over others its clear he mentally snapped and is soo unstable, end of the World in a repeated cycle its like a horror film in Doctor Who, the cliffhangers are scary too even beating the Mara at the end isnt certain as Tegan looking at it in the gap between the mirrors gave it a place to escape too through her this ep is pretty disturbing.
As I say everyone was great in the ep with a few outstanding performances by Actors and there were lots of great interactions, dialogue and one liners π
The scenery and special effects really add to the ep
There were some funny, heartwarming and beautiful moments in all this horror like The Doctor being fascinated and perfecting the coin behind the ear magic trick, the Trickster was always funny, ‘an apple a day keeps the …..oh never mind’ haha great line and a good thing too π cause there isnt much happiness in the ep especially in the later parts.
So overall an incredible, chilling, perplexing, unique and thrilling ep of Doctor Who such a treat in Classic Who 11/10 if thats allowed plus its the prequel to Snakedance which makes both really cool and scarier still as Tegan doesn’t seem right at the end of Kinda.
Can I make the review of this incredible ep shorter probably but I think that wouldn’t do it justice.

19 April 2021 at 20:59 #71602Hey Macca π Welcome to The Forum I hope you enjoy it here and take a look around π
What is your fav Series of New Who so far ?
Hey everyone I found a really good place to Watch Classic Who, I’ve been going through The Fifth Doctor Era from the beginning and what a treat it is π about to get to Kinda one of my favs π
So far I really enjoyed the first two eps if you call them that cause they are 4 parters, The Doctor is great, all the Companies are great even Tegan who I am growing more fond of, I really like Nyssa now, ofcourse Adric as always been my fav out of the three so we will see π
After having the Regeneration what the Doctor goes through is really cool and a rush and the Companions all seem very capable which is great π
I like that only one of them is Human gives a lot of character and good moments to all π
The Eps are very cool for the beginning of a Doctor’s run, lots of Scientific things like Speed of Light ect (trying not to spoil) and the cliff hangers are great the most recent one really shocked me, I am worried for ………. spoilers even though I know it will be fine cause I have seen a little ahead but who knows if its a long term thing I dont remember.
I dont really care about the Special Affects or whatever for the 80’s its really good and not too off-putting.
What do you all think of Castrovalva and Four To Doomsday,Β I think my fav is Castrovalva just about ofcourse excluding Kinda and Snakedance at this point since they were the first eps I saw of The Fifth Doctor and are still my all time fav cause of this and them being really great eps but my opinions may change as I go through all the Fifth Doctor eps π
I am keen to see the ep with the Tractator’s since they freak me out but I didnt properly see the whole ep just a few parts so I wanna know more and see how The Doctor beat them π

18 April 2021 at 22:16 #71598hey @dentarthurdent very interesting about going back in time and The Train crash Dickens and family were on, they were very lucky π
Did you read this book online or in physical form it sounds very interesting and I really like trains π
About your point of the timeline not matching up I am sure the Doctor meant to go to 1860 but for some reason he and Rose ended up in 1869, I remember someone saying it would be 1870 soon.
I forgot to mention in my review but I really like the idea of the Gelth being able to use people like a car and The Doctor saying ‘its like recycling’ the reason being decomposing bodies create gas inside its such a genius explanation how they can control these dead People I love it π

18 April 2021 at 01:32 #71594hey everyone π
Question – Who do you have in mind if you could cast the next Doctor ?
For me I would pick Hugh Jackman π he is such a kind and humble man for instance he was being interviewed by the press and immediately noticed his former student (he used to be a P.E. Teacher) asked how he was and made him laugh ect π , he is always happy, keeping healthy, never pompous or rude cause of being rich and or famous he is always kind to everyone and helps lots of people a true role model π
He is my favorite actor and a phenomenal actor too boot, he was incredible as Wolverine in the X Men films for around 17 years and is the main reason I got attached and fell in love with The X Men and Wolverine my fav character π
I could see him being a very kind Doctor to his companies and aliens that need help but very intimidating and emotional almost ruthless (like Wolverine) when there are bad aliens or bad things happen plus he is 6ft 3 so can be very scary if you cross him or a big friendly giant if he loves you π
Off topic a little I really like Sacha Dhawan’s Master π he is funny, kinda crazy, lots of energy, ruthless, smart and very menacing when you make him angry.
He is like a spoiled kid who just wants to win in style his way (example being the catchphrases) and its funny when he messes them up cause he is too focused on killing someone, keeping his plan on track or battling the Doctor which make him very unique and entertaining to watch so much so I want him to win sometimes and I hope he doesn’t regenerate anytime soon π
I am sorry to 13th Doctor and Jodie Whittaker fans but for me Sacha Dhawan’s Master out classes or out shines Jodie’s Doctor.
I am not sure if Sacha Dhawan has any other acting roles to note but in Doctor Who at least he seems like a really good actor and is my fav portrayal of The Master so far with Missy very close behind unless both finals change my mind.

17 April 2021 at 14:20 #71593hey everyone, the last post about The Unquiet Dead in the Retrospective section was 5 years ago so maybe its time to freshen it up and highlight both it and the ep to more people on the Sofa π
The more I thought about watching this ep for the first time the more excited I became and it didnt disappoint.
Spoilers Ahead –
I loved the Christmas and timely feel about the ep
It was really good that Rose pointed out that The Doctor can visit these time places over and over again but for us (without a TimeMachine) they are gone happend once and you think about that in the opening which is fantastic π
The dialogue and how people spoke felt very of the time but perfectly no criticism there I enjoyed it, really giving the ep depth and realism whilst slowly placing you in that time period π
Everyone was great through the ep even Rose though it was a bit odd she didnt want to help the poor aliens and didnt want Gwyneth to help them and push herself but I guess from her view she doesnt want her time period to be overrun by these aliens and is trying to care for Gwyneth who protests and thinks about helping π , I am glad the Doctor questioned Rose and really wanted to help these aliens you can see his regret of what The Time War did to lots of aliens.
The opening was great and you quickly understand these Ghosts are becoming a common issues to these funeral people.
I loved the look of the aliens, the dialogue was amazing, questioning whats right and wrong, hinting to some sort of power Gwyneth has to see future things, Dickens and the Actor who played him was remarkable and the Doctors love and appreciate for him ‘number one fan’ was lovely indeed π
Plus the scene where The Doctor finds out its Dickens is better than I thought it would be from clips I have seen, soo lovely how they bounce off each other and Dickens telling the Driver to speed up as he values human life and The Doctor’s friend far more than whatever prior arrangement he had and The Doctor with that beaming smile looks proud of him , a lovely, heartwarming and funny scene π
I was getting annoyed that Dickens who writes these stories and has such an imagination for out of this world ideas kept denying every possible evidence of the Ghosts to a point that even number one fan The Doctor snapped at him (ooo you dont get in The Doctor’s way no matter who you π that was great ) but it was soo heartwarming that after this Dickens went out of his way to investigate and well safe The Doctor and Rose in the end he played an active role and the joy he got at the end when he believed these amazing things was riveting and even more heartwarming π
It was really interesting these these aliens live in the gas plus every light you see could let them through which created some tension π
I thought it was very cool that Dickens is famous but not too famous in a way and he monologues his stories on stage to hundreds of people and they are fascinated by them and I think he gets joy from that even though he is getting old and worn down through these plays π
You feel story for the aliens and though it may seem they were bad all along towards the end I just think (and in the ep it hints to it) that nobody realized these ‘endangered’ species are still in their millions so everyone sort of underestimated the situation which puts credit to Rose warning about opening the rift and gives the Doctor and great line ‘I think its gone wrong’ , Dickens realizing the solution was great it was kinda complex and I didn’t understand how it worked so Dickens really must be a genius π
All the characters feeling real and interesting brought urgency for the need of sacrifice and poor Gwyneth who was brave went out brilliantly, I loved Dickens saying how he was gonna write about the ‘Blue creatures’ are something similar and like the Doctor said was rejuvenated but what a tinge of sadness that he had a week or so left to live good old Boy for spending your final days with your Family on Christmas π happy as can be π
10/10 for me the Highlight of Series 1 and a beautiful Historical Episode with heartwarming Christmas feels π
I guess I have wrote too much again but ultimately this story is amazing, funny and riveting but most importantly it is in one word heartwarming π
