    @pedant — Oh, that made my day!  What a sight!  All is well, for the moment anyway, in Ichi-land tonight.

    @cathannabel

    How are you?!  I read your post and so did Mum and she did say to me “watch for Cath’s work at the university.”

    And I DID forget so I’m really glad for the reminder. Mum and I were really interested in the lectures and how fascinating they were -when you showed us where to find the topics that were around and advertised last…[Read more]

    My OH had seen this hoax, but I hadn’t. Loved it.

    Many thanks

    My first laugh of the day, oh dear, oh dear!

    The Doctor (PC) did say that she was “a bad girl, always looking for trouble.”

    It seems she found it! *still laughing.*

    Thank you for this.

    @pedant (and just to include @jimthefish ) Many thanks. Have dealt with the one that posted the spam. I also noticed a few other dodgy ones but am reluctant to jump to conclusions. I mean, slickhotness and fdsa may be very dedicated Doctor Who fans. I’m not counting on it, but innocent until proven guilty.

    Once again, thanks for keeping an eye out.

    @pedant that is indeed brilliant. A few years ago I customised a Playmobil Port a loo into a Tardis. Someone suggested I call it the Turdis. That might apply there too.
    Cheers

    That’s awesome! Mum loves those ospreys and I really liked just sitting there, last winter (here) and holding a hot chocolate listening to the wind and the birds and watching them fly about.

    Thanks @pedant and @bluesqueakpip for your advice and ideas about identity. The teacher said I could use John Searle to support my thesis…[Read more]

    @pedant  It has been established that Doctors lose memories of future Doctors (ref: Day of the Doctor) and that even future doctors can bury the memory of entire regenerations (ref: War Doctor). This is canon.

    So, when he says things like, “I remember every single thing!” he’s, ah, lying, or boasting, or trying to convince himself that it’s not…[Read more]

    There is also the problem that there you can’t guarantee that there will always be a sledgehammer to hand when you need  one, and a sledgehammer is a pretty cumbersome thing to carry around on the off chance that you might encounter a weeping angel.  You would also need safety goggles, because a stone chip in the eye would c…[Read more]

    @whisht LOL

    thought this applies to our now older regeneration considering the diamond he had to smash thru and the different names they had for him.  probably someone else posted it well before I did though.

    @pedant  I think you would also like Pink Floyds ‘shine On You Crazy Diamond’

    Mr Fish Man! Thank you. I obviously mucked that up. Mum would’ve been embarrassed -she still will be.

    And I’m trying to make sense of John Locke. Mum says “economist” and “determinist” and my teacher and philosophy tutor says “Locke is a memory believer”

    😈

    Must post a song on thread -a Pink Floyd which fits the Doctor -one of…[Read more]

    @pedant – True that 46 is no fucking age (says the guy who is 46 for at least another month or so).

    Another musician that has died is the rather longer-lived Hugh Masekela.
    I don’t know his music well; I heard this many years ago and loved it, but a subsequent hunt and ‘Best of’ didn’t have anything even close, so will have to see if there’s more…[Read more]

    Hi @pedant – ah yes, The Farm.

    I’ll admit I didn’t know that one was about the Christmas truce.
    Somehow I’d scrubbed any knowledge (and sound) of them from my ears and brain.

    Thanks for re-introducing that ‘music-hole’ back to my memory.

    @mudlark  What is today in the open, challenged and fought over was then, in the 1950s and early 60s, largely unacknowledged and accepted,

    Exactly; I think they tried get sense of the way the cultural background was not only steeped in racist and sexist beliefs and behaviors but had been so over generations by having D1 share a joke about the…[Read more]
