How are you?! I read your post and so did Mum and she did say to me “watch for Cath’s work at the university.”
And I DID forget so I’m really glad for the reminder. Mum and I were really interested in the lectures and how fascinating they were -when you showed us where to find the topics that were around and advertised last…[Read more]

Away from the party for a few days…There are some very moving posts above, and am especially grateful to @ichabod and @cathannabel for sharing their stories.
I was fortunate enough to get to a cinema show last week, and thought Rachel Talalay’s direction was even more impressive on a big screen than on TV. The shots up and down the sta…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing your RL experiences of dementia. It’s a horrible thing to watch in a loved one. And yes, it does focus one’s thoughts on what is “self”. Very often personality changes come in too. We hang on to the little flashes in the eyes that suggest the person we knew is still in there, somewhere. Hugs to you both.

Thanks to all of you who have commented here – [pedants] remarks struck me particularly forcefully.
That’s very kind.
Moffat was holding these characters: the new Doctor, the present Doctor, the first Doctor and the soldier, very gently in his hands, shaping and highlighting, forming and processing. It was a sight to see…

A very happy Christmas to all my fellow Whovians.
Personally I can’t wait to hang with the first again, I’m going to shed a tear or two of goodbye to the magnificent twelfth… and I really can’t wait to meet the thirteenth. (Will be timeshifting tho, so will catch up with you all in a couple of days (NO internet for me till then!!)).
I can’t…[Read more]

You aren’t the only blubbering mess! That’s why I shan’t watch until Wednesday mroing or afternoon. as I said, there is no way I’m going to bed happy and tired after watching the end of an incredibly wonderful series.

I am here in snowy northern Canada feeling slightly jealous over @phaseshift and his very lucky Mrs. going to see PC and his last episode. A happy/sad event. But his romantic story made me happy!
@mudlark You seem to have a lovely day in store for you and sometimes, just sometimes mind you, Doctor Who must wait.
@cathannabel I hope your day is…[Read more] -

Aw shucks that was awfully decent of you!
Yes, I am now 16. And my acne has really set in. On a positive note, my hair is turning curly and I’m taller.
Thank you :

As a whovian, I can only agree with you about it’s survival.
What makes it impossible for me to accept a female Doctor I think, is that having watched the very first episode, as it was aired, and every series since, I have a mind set about it being a male.
Chosing JW to take the role, from what I’ve seen of her, is simply adding…[Read more]

As the 13th Doctor has closed – which is not a surprise, what else is there to say? – I was unable to answer your posts
@cathannabel and @thane15
Sorry abut that, but I can’t always spend so much time on here. Anyway, suffice it to say quickly, I have my opinion and you both have yours – and I could be wrong. Time alone will tell.

@blenkinsopthebrave @jimthefish @cathannabel I agree also that this thread has probably run it’s course, though not necessarily that it’s having a negative impact. I don’t think opinions are going to change or solidify very much until we actually see episodes with the new Doctor and showrunner, which is further off than I’d like.
We should keep…[Read more]

@cathannabel: We’re on this Forum because we care about Doctor Who. Some of us are feminists, SJWs even, some aren’t. Surely all of us want the show to be successful, to continue to capture the imaginations of children and adults, to retain the loyalties of long-standing fans (I’m one of those, I go back to the Troughton era) and to attract n…[Read more]

@wolfweed — I saw Davison has quit Twitter and it is a real shame because his original comments have been totally misrepresented. He was very encouraging about JW and did little more than ‘wonder’ about the removal of a male role model. Personally I think he’s worrying unnecessarily for reasons gone into in detail elsewhere but that doesn’t mean…[Read more]

Thanks for writing this. I agree that often it is not worth engaging with the “PC gone mad” and “SJWs have ruined culture” brigade, because these phrases are lazy covers for what such arguers don’t […]

The most important thing about casting Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor is that it displays, in a way beyond words, that strength, courage, compassion, intelligence (and the attention span of a five […]

Yes, the Doctor and Rose was very irritating to me too. He’s ‘The Doctor’, not some love sick puppy from outer space. There have been many companions in the past far more developed and interesting than Rose Tyler, and he didn’t fall in love with any of them. My favorite companion from the New Who was Donna Noble. I think she was a good companion…[Read more]

@cathannabel Personally I don’t think ALL feminists or SJWs are bad. I think there are people in both groups that see the wrongs and ills of society and do want to change them for the better. My major malfunction is with the people who run the organizations because from the experiences I’ve had, I don’t see them as having the best interest of the…[Read more]
