    and just catching up on stuff…

    @blenkinsopthebrave – A midges love poem!
    Wow – great to hear poetry here.

    @scaryB – oh god.
    Dagga Doo is bad enough, but I now have a Kenneth McKellar ear-midge!
    ;¬)

    Though “Och aye the midges” by Bob Strachan might live longer!

    @ScaryB – dammit! I now have the song, and the expression “What a load of dugga-doo” stuck in my head 🙂

    On yours and @Whohar ‘s mention of “hasty rewrites” – yes, when you think about the first Gatwa series and how much it focussed on the Doctor and Ruby both being abandoned and adopted children, I wonder if Poppy was planned out, at the…[Read more]

    My theory about Billie is that she may be a temporary interim Doctor till the future becomes clearer.

    I make that 3 theories now:

    1. @jimthefish ‘s Interface theory

    2. Your interim Doc theory

    3. My she’s The Moment theory.

    To which I’d add something I briefly saw online:

    4. She’s a version of Bad Wolf.

    and another thought:

    5. She’s…[Read more]

    The Well;

    The Story & the Engine

    Rogue

    Lux

    but I really want to put the Devil’s Chord in there too. And I really liked The Legend of Ruby Sunday. 😀

    Murky. Gritty.

    oft mocked. Very nasty, dumb title: Vengeance on Varos. If the current arc is VR it needs a Visit to a Virtual Varos if only to dunk The V’linx in some Vitriol!

    Some will be outraged, but it’s a weird mix of unlikely personal thesp triumph not even JNT and Seward combined could contain: Caves of And…[Read more]

    Murky- do you mean top 5 since thE Gatwa Doctor, or from all of Who?

    If it is from all of Who  then the top of my list would probably be the six part Troughton story-“The Web of Fear”. It was a stellar example of murky and gritty.

    And–unfortunately–they don’t make them like that any more.

    Only one loose end Scary hells bells there’s the most glaring and itchy loose end ever and RTD has been dangling it infront of us for a good part of the season———- Bring back SUSAN

    Couldn’t’ help but wonder why UNIT’s defences only face one way!

    Absolutely! And the scene where Kate turns the wheel and the entire top of the building tries to turn…

    Of course, it gave her something to do, rather than (like her father) shouting out orders.

    I should add that that scene was one of the reasons I enjoyed the episode!

    Hello Everyone,

    Your cinema experience sounds fab @ScaryB .

    That was a true emotional rollercoaster, and RTD totally pulled off the surprise, for me at least!!!

    I spent the first part of the episode thinking – jeez this is a LOT of exposition, but hey, I’m in love with Archie Panjabi’s Rani.

    I wasn’t a fan of Mad God Omega or the Bone Beasts -…[Read more]

    Many thanks for that; I hadn’t come across it before and it’s lovely.  And yes, midges are best contemplated from a distance, dancing in columns in the sun.

    Now, the Unleashed episode for Wish World showed how the crew were bitten to pieces by midges for that enchanted forest scene.

    Have just watched this episode at last. I think I was putting it off because I expected it to be a bit cringy. for me eurovision has zero appeal and I expected the S/O would really dislike it. It was surprisingly good and even he agreed that it wasn’t in the least bit “cringy”.

    The whole point of the false world is that it can be destroyed by doubt… And the Doctor’s breakthrough doubt is powerful enough to break into the underverse where Omega is supposedly trapped.

    Yes, the Rani made that very clear in her exposition to the Doctor. The reasoning seems straightforward enough: the universe is too robust and sta…[Read more]

    i think the giant skellingtons stalking all around london are nothing more than an offshoot of the “bone palace,” the rani’s headquarters. purely aesthetic, and a nod to fairy tales, but perhaps also a built-in “test” of how well the wish world is holding together? if everyone is content to accept them as reality, then the…[Read more]
