Mudlark replied to the topic Wish World
On the subject of names, The Rani addressed the baby’s father as Herr Zufall which is certainly significant, since Zufall means chance/happenstance – entirely appropriate for the seventh son of a seventh son in a Black Forest fairy tale.
Greetings Puro.

Mudlark replied to the topic Wish World
The whole point of the false world is that it can be destroyed by doubt… And the Doctor’s breakthrough doubt is powerful enough to break into the underverse where Omega is supposedly trapped.
Yes, the Rani made that very clear in her exposition to the Doctor. The reasoning seems straightforward enough: the universe is too robust and sta…[Read more]

Re: Disney+, I think Who is on there for Rest of the World, in the UK it’s BBC / iPlayer.
I don’t think even RTD would retcon the entirety of Who, by making it a story within a story. Would he? He can retcon The Timeless Child as much as he likes, though. 😀
Tears is definitely this Docs thing. It appears to be Gatwa’s…[Read more]

the Land of Fiction
This was mentioned during in the last season’s comments (somewhere…maybe even by me), so it might have some legs. I wonder if RTD will go back to the well of old Who for a second season on the run.
Mrs Flood was obviously the Doctor’s original Nanny

“The Mind Robber” is one of the great original Who stories (with a real “Alice Through the Looking Glass” feel to it) and could well be related to the way RTD2 wants to play in the land of fiction.
As for Mrs Flood, while Mrs Blenkinsop and I were sitting out in the garden room this evening, I pronounced to her (after…[Read more]

also, the similarities of Mrs Flood’s dress sense to Romana 1 and Clara shown on the link does echo a recent debate about whether we saw the remains of the Blackpool or Eiffel Tower at the end of Robot Revolution. Although the Eiffel Tower actually links to Romana 2 of course.
On the other hand this debate is s…[Read more]

Yes v interesting! The Mind Robber was one of the only 3 DW serials broadcast on Oct 5th… the date quoted by 15 in Boom. The other 2 serials were Paradise Towers and Remembrance of the Daleks.
And the penultimate story of this season is ‘Wish World’?
Still wondering about Valeyard, Villengard and the Vlinx though.

We may need a flow chart! That is brilliant! While this web site already has a wonderful sub-heading, I think your line would be an excellent header for subsequent discussion of the world of RTD2.

@ScaryB – lovely to see you and @Whisht back in the DJ box!
I’d missed the detail that it was the TARDIS that clocked Clone-Donna’s long arm at the last – clever old thing. And yes, definitely a play on AI and its current weirdnesses with the human body. AI is terrifying frankly, so a very modern form of body horror.
I had forgotten ARSE – I’m…[Read more]

And finally:
Explain the brilliance of this episode in five words or less:
”my arms are too long”.
Just that – totally brilliant.

Oh, that’s interesting. I never thought of that and it’s starting to make me think of the episode in a whole different light now.
I was wondering if the various bits and pieces were on there as well as the full stories. Right then, I’ll check out the lone episode of The Celestial Toymaker before the weekend.

Second viewing and liked it even more. Still not sure about undoing the previous fate of Donna, and like @jimthefish I think I would have preferred Rose to go off for an adventure with the Doctor. Am really hoping we do get to see Bernard Cribbins again and agree with @BobbyFatv2 that it surely must be significant that Rose is a toymaker.
