The old saying that you can’t please everyone all of the time (misquote, but you know what I mean) is true, but how are these bright young things going to take to a female Doctor?
As for tea making. The pot and cups (bone china) should be warmed first. The water should be boiling, in my opinion the milk goes in first. It should be strong brew.

Did they actually watch any of the series? Especially the Peter Capaldi series?
Are they so determined to be the ‘equal’ – which of course they can’t – of men, that they were/are in denial?
On wonders what these same females will think of JD, and how long before they find fault with her.

My grammar isn’t too bad, but could be a lot better – at least I know where to put apostrophes. *grins*
Unfortunately even the presenters on TV don’t seem to have a grasp of English grammar – in this country at least – and after a while, no matter how hard I try, some of it must rub off.
My biggest failing is being able to put a sentence together which makes sense! I know what I want to say, but it seems to come out ‘arse upwards’ as it were. Everyone on this forum is eloquent – most of the time – which makes me feel a lot worse.

As for hateful comments about JD I agree with you, not necessary. I don’t want a female Doctor, and JD certainly isn’t
that talented – what I’ve seen of her and that’s a lot. However, making nasty comments is quite, quite wrong.

She chose to go on the adventure with eyes open, though probably not quite aware enough of the risks (also foreshadowed by Oswin – and imbeciles call Moffat lazy). Even though that cost her, she did not regret it for a moment. She died where she stood, and it was beautiful.
And the Angry Virgins hate that.
Ouch! But you could be right. If Moffat didn’t write about strong women, I must have missed something.

In the middle of ‘car accidents’ was my birthday. The kids (and grand kids)took my OH and I to a Chinese restaurant.
There I was regaled (if I may use the word) with gifts of potted flowers, two Dvd’s, two Doctor who T-shirts, a DW purse, a lottery ticket and an electric toothbrush.
Then came the cake? An 18 inch Tardis! It was perfect in every detail even down to the St. John’s Ambulance sticker.
So superb was it, that other diners came over to look at it. As you can imagine I didn’t want to cut it.

Thank you for your good wishes, and so far so good. I have always preferred small cars, The Mini have played a large part in our lives.
Really enjoyed reading all stories about wild life and in particular the tale (excuse the pun) of your adventurous cat, We had a cat like that, we would send him for a holiday with friends in Queensland – why?- because he and their Seal point Siamese were firm friends and missed each other. Jason (black moggy) would patrol the outside of the house, whilst Caruso patrolled the inside by way of window sills. When the local canine population had the temerity to venture anywhere near the house, Jason would see them off with zeal. Tragedy struck one day however. Whilst out for a stroll, a dog chased Caruso up a tree, where he became wedged in a fork and died. If Jason bad been there, it would never have happened. We still sent him over to spend a week with our friends now and then, where he would sit for hours on the spot where Caruso was buried.

The accident happened in a side road, so the driver of the other car wasn’t going fast. Thanks for your warning about whiplash, but my OH seems to be all right and it’s been over a month. Nope! None of the above. It’s a 2002 Toyota Echo hatchback and we were fortunate to buy it from an In-Law for $1,300. Only 100 thousand Kilometres on the clock and apart from a few little scrapes on the chassis, in excellent condition.
They had two cars, but the old chap couldn’t drive anymore so their second car was rarely used.
Oddly enough, the last car a Daewoo hatchback, we bought from our daughter-in-law and it did us proud.
Talk about keep it in the family.

@oswald I feel the same as you about Peter Capaldi and Bill. Although I had great affection for Clara and Donna, Rose and Bill remain my favourite companions. Peter will always be MY Doctor.
@kharis I Know how you feel, and unlike some I am NOT looking forward to the next series. Telly Tubbies join the Wiggles, this series must be for 5-6 years old children going by the outfit!Unfortunately I must watch at least two episodes so that I may pass judgement. *shudder*
@mudlark Most kids bought the monsters not the actual Doctor, so I can’t see the problem the BBC had?

I cannot believe that it’s been 2 months!
Although I’m not looking forward to the next Doctor, I still want to be a member and commune with all you friendly people. So, whilst dinner is cooking, here is a precis of what I’ve been up to.
My OH was in a car accident – T-boned I think it’s called. The fire brigade had to smash windows on the driver’s side and take the door off to get him out. Although he was rushed to hospital and into emergency, he escaped with only a bruise on one arm and one on his back! ??? No one could understand how he got out injury free, especially as he is nearly 83. They put it down to the fact that our car was a 1998 model and stronger than more modern cars.
Unfortunately, it was his error, he didn’t notice a”Give Way” sign. So, we had to find finance for another car, plus all the checks, police, insurance – you know the kind of thing – then the shock set in. Ironically one month before, we’d paid for our funerals to save our kids the trouble. *rolls eyes*
Needless to say, I hadn’t the heart to join all of you here. However, life has calmed down, loan almost paid off plus another car.
Most of the threads I shan’t try to catch up with, only the 12th Doctor and notifications.

@janetteb: We just (re)watched Deep Breath two nights ago. We have been working through all of AG Who, with a few exceptions. I have enjoyed every Doctor and wish they had all done at least one more season but I don’t think any burst onto the screen with quite the same “Doctorishness” that Capaldi does and that is no mean feat. Capaldi “owns” the role from the offset. I don’t think I would ever tire of watching him as the Doctor. The more often I watch his episodes the better he is.
My sentiments exactly. I try to think kindly about a female Doctor and JW in particular, but I can’t. It’s all wrong in my opinion.
As I’ve mentioned ad nauseam , Kris Marshall should have got the role, he’s perfect.

At last! Real life has given me a proper pounding lately, so much so that I could only be bothered to e-mail.
One thing I do agree with, is that emissions are not good, especially for people with Asthma. But I still still need to be convinced that we are to blame for all the disasters on this planet. I’m not being bloody minded either.
Experts, change their minds on a regular basis, in particular dietary experts – so-called. Newspapers have played no part in my conviction, simply common logic, whatever you think.
I cannot say with satisfaction and conceit that I am right, but then neither can the experts, whatever you say to the contrary. You may be well travelled, but you weren’t there millions of years ago every time this change happened.
No one’s opinion should be thrown out because of what the experts say.
In thousands of years time when all emissions have been stopped, the Earth will be going through the same old changes that she is now, unfortunately we won’t be here for me to say, “I told you so.”
There is one thing we can all agree on AND prove, the terrible disaster of plastic bags. That HAS been proved conclusively. Did anyone see the whale that washed up on the beach? After it had died and they cut it open they found 80 plastic bags in its stomach. It had starved to death. Now that is what I call proof positive.

they are making an impact on the Earth’s climate, they want to study past climate properly.
Thousands, if not millions of years ago, most of the Northern Hemisphere was blanketed in ice. Indeed the UK had
the odd glacier or two.
Whereas, the Southern hemisphere and 7 deserts, were tropical forests.
Where were the emission then?
It isn’t what I want to believe, it’s simple logic.
You believe it I do not, either way it doesn’t matter, Earth will do exactly what she has been doing for millennia, without any help from us.

Just after and probably during the war (the 2nd btw I’m not that ancient) Horse was very popular and, like whale, cheaper than beef, lamb or pork. What he didn’t allow for, was my love of horses. *shudder*
I much prefer plain English food, although I do enjoy a good curry, Italian and Thai at times. None of the meals your Mum makes appeal to me, too fussy – sorry Puro. The fish in particular I love baked on it’s own, afterwards squeezing at least half a lemon over it, lightly salted potatoes and fresh unsalted spinach. All covered with lightly salted parsley sauce…YUM! Plain Jane that’s me…or rather Missy, I simply don’t like tinkering with food. I’m not keen on fruit either, much preferring vegetables.
Oh how I love pumpkin pie! Covered with nutmeg, my favourite spice and a large dob of clotted cream, if you can get it. The only way to eat the vegetable.
Sprouts…..how can you stand the taste of them? besides, I can live without garlic, you don’t need the stuff, but I do like leeks, so wouldn’t defile them with sprouts and garlic!
I always laugh when we go out for dinner/lunch with my OH’s Canoe club . “What’s the betting, say I, that pumpkin soup is on the menu?” I’m always right!

The only veges I don’t like are: Sprouts, turnips, (unless they are in a genuine Cornish pasty) squash (tasteless)
pumpkin (also tasteless and OZ’s staple diet it seems!) and new potatoes.
Mind, I do like American Pumpkin Pie for pudding.
My favourite is Spinach, raw or cooked.
