    Actually for me that flick was always about putting aside your dreams which is why he considered

    suicide.   I never liked the preachy message and I never agreed with it .   “A Wonderful Life” has

    always been a twisted movie to me.   Just saying…………

    ooh – missed a few of these!

    @toinfinityandbepond – great song – I’ve not heard of Dar Williams before.
    I liked this version I found (prodded by you) as I somehow heard the last verse better – maybe as i wasn’t distracted by the images. thanks!!

    @Wolfweed – I’ll admit to not being a massive ELO fan but I AM a fan of Silent Running!…[Read more]

    Wonder where The Doctor stands in the list of BBC talent salarys?

    I just posted a link on the news thread…

    Great posts (as always), Thanks @Whisht, @toinfinityandbepond, @phaseshift, @Craig, @Wolfweed and all. @Pedant – you have great taste! Thea Gilmore is fab.

    Bit hard to get away from politics in the UK this week, but I don’t really need an excuse for The The, haha. Love this –

    @wolfweed and @toinfinityandbepond – fantastic posts.

    I’ve been going through my music and though lots popped up, when listening to them, there isn’t that sense of “ah – that sums up the episode!”.

    So, I have one I posted before which is… interesting and always a great tune so doing it again…[Read more]

    I would certainly be prepared to stump up a good deal more than that for the license fee.  The problem is that if a household owns a TV set or sets the license fee has to be paid, whatever their financial circumstances and whether or not anyone in the household watches BBC programmes, and there are a good many vociferous pe…[Read more]

    What? There is a Sherlock thread among other things, but it isn’t a prime mover – so to speak.

    @alexwho:

    Good for you, I’m comforted by my many box sets, especially Peter Capaldi. Roll on April.

    Well, it’s been a pretty lean time for new Doctor Who to discuss over the last few months, so when some new writing by Moffat and Gatiss comes along…

    And there has probably been more discussion of the US election on the Maldovarium thread than there has been of Sherlock. I see the Forum as a broad church that includes…[Read more]

    Thanks for the link to the Pearl Mackie interview. It still seems like an eternity to the new episodes, and one gratefully grabs at whatever crumbs drop from the table. So, did we find out anything about the character of Bill? Apparently,

    She’s funny and geeky and vulnerable. There’s a goofiness to her and a big heart. She…

    @toinfinityandbepond Indeed thanks for the news. Something to tide us over until next year.. Will be nice to return to Coal Hill, where it all began. I do hope we get to finally meet Ian again or at least to find out a little more about him.

    Cheers

    Interesting, thank you.

    I also had to smile at the 10 things Americans like about we British. In particular the way we take the micky out of ourselves.

    @pedant  @sirclockface @puroandson   Watched and loved Arthur singing. Broke out in giggles a few times. Thanks for the giggle.

    @toinfinityandbepond       I watched the first episode and it seems pretty good. Love the long coat and time machine.

    Where he plays a “Time Master” in a stolen time machine, wearing a very long coat.

    Spot on.  Although I missed the detail that the time machine was stolen.

    You see, I’m familiar with the character – Rip Hunter, Time Master – from the old 60’s comics.  But I can’t claim to remember much about it, except that I enjoyed the s…[Read more]

    River asks how did he get another regeneration, and The Doctor says “a thing happened”
    Question, does he remember?

    I didn’t think there was a suggestion he’d forgotten- only that it would be complex to explain (and of no benefit in moving the story forward for him to do so).
